I like the series and my PondPhuwin <3 so far, but I can't help but wonder how they're going to fill 16 episodes. I mean, three of the four couples won't be taking a very long to come together from what I've seen so far, and we're only at episode 2. I get that there must be more than just the romance part and maybe we'll be getting a longer part of the series with the couples being together already, but still... 16 episodes? Unless a big plot development is coming that would take several episodes to get resolved.
The trailer was all wrong.. it gave the impression that Moo was going to fall first and wear Kang down, but Kang has already fallen hard and won't need much convincing. Seriously, the boy has been infatuated with cutie Moo from the very beginning.
So Payos is into his best friend who is completely clueless... fun! :)
A show that doesn't avoid some problematic topics and has the healthiest couple in BL history who know how to communicate with each other and support each other all the way. I'm convinced and hope the last two episodes will be as wholesome as this one was.
I'll post a proper comment after rewatching, but I just have to express my respect for Achi and his methods to get his guy.
Like really, after several failed attempts to confess because he indeed is too chicken to do so, he decides to invite Ji to watch a movie and picks a porn(ish?) one to get him into the right mood, then propositions him and oh wonder... it works! Well, not for long, but long enough to give us an unforgertable NC scene and to blow both their minds to an extent they can't forget about it for 10 years.
This episode was very triggering for me, because I recently (two weeks ago) lost a very good colleague to cancer and additionally, I can't deal well with abusive parents, they make my blood boil. It was hinted that the father is not a good parent from the beginning, but that brutal beating and Ji mentioning it was not the first time made the episode very hard to watch in combination with the cancer storyline.
Everyone's putting the blame on Ji for getting between Achi and the other guy and getting punched, but sorry, what was Achi thinking he was doing in the first place? He confronted and tried to hit that guy without knowing what was going on and without speaking to Ji first. I get that he was trying to defend his friend, but how about getting to know your facts and speaking to him before you get violent? Pear was the one to call Ji, so what exactly was Ji supposed to do, just sit and watch? And then Ji got brutally beaten by his father because of it. I don't care if I'm the only one who sees it that way, but yes, Achi had to apologize - not for hitting Ji, but for not speaking to him first about the situation.
Ji and Achi becoming parents to the most adorable dog (well, together with Coin) and them hanging out together at the end were the best parts.
To end on a positive note, I saw the spoiler pics for next week's episode and can't wait! :)
The first meeting at the airport was orchestrated by Peh & his brother. I’ve watched it a couple of times -…
From what I gather, Ji is angry with Achi for breaking off their friendship. Probably there will be more to it, but from what I've seen, this is what it looks like.
Finally someone that has the same opinion as mine. I'm in love with this series and seeing so much people complain…
Taste is subjective, but I will still claim that this is a good series if you bother to take your time to watch it and pay attention to the details, which is necessary to understand it. And I'm saying this as someone who is not the biggest fan of best friends to lovers. But if I find more friends-to-lovers like this one, I'm willing to be convinced.
Ji and achi had sex in highschool,ji was the one who initiated,I repeat it was ji who made the first move. Now…
Please don't be angry, but would you mind editing your comment, it's a little confusing to see that long post, but only the last part is what you meant to say. :)
Well, I think that most of us who've been watching carefully would not be surprised that they had sex, it was to be expected, with them crushing on each other in the past and the present and the speed their romance is developing in the present. It just needs to happen asap, because it didn't in this episode and they are running out of time with only two episodes left. The preview for the next episode looks promising, though.
I'm curious! Did I miss something? Did they show in any of the flashbacks how Ji and Achi became friends? We see…
Nope, you didn't miss anything, that part was not there. There was the moment Achi asked for Ji's number, but it wasn't really showed how it came for them to meet again after that first meeting in the butcher's stand when Ji threatened Achi with the knife. It was said, however, that Achi's mother was a regular customer there and the owner of the place where the butcher's stand was located, so it's implied Achi had a reason to go there again, besides his initial interest in Ji. ;)
I know everyone's hating on this at the moment, which I find amusing. "It's slow!" Sorry they didn't have sex…
I agree, I like the show very much and think, whatever people think of the pace, that it's infair to say the acting is bad. I can feel Achi's genuine feelings and Ji always being on the edge about deciding what to do about his own feelings very well. Both are doing a fine job.
I like this show so much that I rewatched all 5 episodes and want to share my thoughts after rewatching and catching on some things I hadn't paid attention to the first time.
First of all, a spoiler: in the recently released OST to the series there's a clip showing Achi throw the stuffed rabbit and the tiger into a rubbish bin in front of Ji and Ji looks heartbroken watching this. I think this gives the answer to the question why Ji is weary of Achi: it was Achi who cancelled the friendship, for whatever reason. I'll share my theory on this later.
I saw many complains about the flashbacks, but I think they are very well incorporated into the story and absolutely necessary, otherwise the story wouldn't make any sense. The flashbacks are also IMO always placed at the right moment to explain why Ji and Achi act the way they do in the present. It's not like they are repeating things we've already seen. Without the flashbacks, the story cannot be told.
There are also complains the story is too slow, but actually, if we look at the timeline, it's not. Achi and Ji meet the morning the day after we see Ji operate on the little girl's finger. The same evening, Achi appears at the party, drives Ji home, kisses him without his consent and gets punched. Ji flies back the next morning, Achi follows prompt after (I think we got enough clues to say that Peh is on it and is the one giving Achi the information where to find Ji). He gets into Ji's apartment, refuses to leave, Ji brings him to dinner and leaves for the hospital. The same evening, Achi picks him up, brings him to his apartment and they have a consensual kiss this time. Ji interrupts it, and seemingly a day or two later Achi is in the hospital with his ex-girlfriend and starts courting Ji by bringing him food and both of them exchanging cute post-it-notes. So in fact, their romance in the present is developing very quickly, even though Ji still seems cautious. The reason it looks slow is because of the flashbacks inbetween, but again, the story cannot be told without them.
My theory on what happened in order for Achi to call off the friendship is that there was something that happened between them we haven't seen yet. So far, in the past, Achi is the one fully aware of his romantic feelings for Ji, while Ji feels the same, but doesn't know it yet or if he suspects something, he's in denial or fighting it by dating Pear. IMO, something will cause Ji to slip and give in and they will sleep together. Afterwards, there are two possibilities for Achi to break off their friendship: either Ji will refuse to break up with the girlfriend and want to have his cake and eat it too, i.e. suggest to keep his relationship with Achi a secret, or, which is more probable, because Ji doesn't strike me as a selfish person like that, he'll tell Achi that it had been an one-time thing and that Achi should forget about it, and this will push Achi over the edge.
One last thing - clearly Achi returned back to the rubbish bin and got the stuffed toys back, because we saw him send them to Ji in episode 5.
What I really hope to find out is why Achi decided to fight for Ji now, after 10 years, because clearly, everything he does is planned and he's in contact with Peh, who feeds him information about Ji, the entire time. I wouldn't be surprised if even the first meeting on the airport was orchestrated by Achi and Peh and Achi went there knowing he'll see Ji. What happened to make him take action now?
One last thing: Coin is like the cutest dog ever, such a baby. :)

Best moments for me: when both Fang and Pheem asked about whether it was still functioning... :D

Mad respect, I'm telling you. 😉

I can't wait for this one, I enjoyed most of Korean BLs last year and Love for Love's Sake was brilliant. Hope this one can hold up.
