Hey, I also want to add, there were many things in this show that weren't ethical or moral --- there's no value you here you should carry with you in your real life- some times some tales will be like that. Think of old English plays with absolute 0 sense but are still popular to this day and romanticised, think about so many things that are wrong in this world we live right now including war - we romanticise as saving lives. Coming back to the show, nothing here was right in a moral sense, but the creators aren't asking you to watch this to question your values or learn lessons, they don't want you to imitate any of this as well. Nor do they need you to desperately defend any of these characters. You could call these characters for what they are and that's totally fine, and still enjoy this show! Don't let the moral police make you feel like you need to justify any of the NC scenes - because you DON'T have to do that and you SHOULDN'T do that either. This is intended for mature audiences and that includes adults who are able to make choices for themselves and who will not be easily swayed by 12 episodes to take anything from here to your "real life". Just enjoy the show for portraying these two characters, and for showing you their tale of love with all its scars, gore, light and love.

The way every scene and emotion was captured so beautifully, the way they took a book that readers thought couldn't be saved and turned it into this, the way these actors did so much justice to these two characters, absolutely commendable!!! I am genuinely so so grateful for this show as a reader, while they didn't completely "fix" everything "wrong", they somehow retained the essence of the story and gave us the tale of two imperfect souls in love, choosing love and choosing themselves for the first time at the same time since they got together. The 11th episode was it for me, absolute 10/10, thank you team! You did an amazing job!!

while I admit that there's nothing right bout their relationship, im genuinely impressed with how well the two actors embodied the emotions of lu Feng and yi Chen- I was quite relieved and happy with all the things toned down, both with content and timing! I am so so grateful for this rewritten version - honestly the author should too. out of all her work this one was most traumatizing,

hmm round trip to love NEEDS to be toned down so it's remotely ethical, the book was far too wild
of course, sometimes you cant put it down just cause you cant go to bed not knowing how it ends. I binged on the entirety of case file compendium in a day and even took a sick leave lol

haha true, im with you on that! I personally lowkey find this version of Lu Feng healing bits and pieces of the trauma I still have from reading the book with all the aggression he had. I think on the show they've retained the part of him that's obsessed with Chen Yi Chen, especially in terms of being unable to stay away from him physically and they've shown how he loses rationale when it comes to him (not great) as well. However on the other hand, here they've also chosen to portray his character as a more vulnerable version than he was in the book. On the contrary, Yi Chen is portrayed as a way less vulnerable character than he was in the book - here he seems like he has more power to make decisions, more independent and functional as a human, as a man, which is a nice spin as well. The book was just a round trip to hell honestly

OMG YES! I really wish the novel would be re-written ... the shit that came after on 40 year old middle aged men was a little too much to read honestly

Kind reminder that the show is set to follow the novel mostly, which means it's highly likely to have a HE since…
eg: revenge love did have NC too in the book and the show downplayed a bit, but Lu Feng is a whole different level of evil in comparison to Chi Cheng, I'm watching this partly cause in some ways funnily enough this is gonna be healing - healing everyone who couldn't accept the level of atrocities Lu Feng was upto in the book, and if you read the entire universe series you know what I'm talking about, cause this toned down Lu Feng MAAYYY make us feel like they deserved to end up together

Kind reminder that the show is set to follow the novel mostly, which means it's highly likely to have a HE since we get past the two leaps in the show as well. But it also means, it's highly likely we get all the NC stuff from the book. While I wished that they sugarcoated it, like they toned down their falling in love story, I guess the plot cannot run while Lu Feng remains what he was in the first few episodes- KIND AND LOYAL AND IN LOVE. Honestly the book itself was quite the traumatic experience, but there couldn't be a more accurate portrayal of these characters - Ayden and SiTong are the perfect fit! - so I'm seated to see what they decide to make out of it. Please make sure you're watching this knowing that the worst is yet to come, and if this isn't something you're not interested in, then kindly spare yourself the trauma and triggers. The show isn't grey, it's black. and unfortunately, most chinese BLs written in that time were

Im pretty convinced they have a bit of season 2 filmed already, cause this season was the extras in the book and just 30% of the book, there's more of the story to unravel tbh. But nicely done, they did skip a few things from the book tho I guess which made chu san and liu yi's relationship a lot more complicated at the start --- and the OST -- CHEFS KISS! and the main leads are absolutely fantastic!
