Her male lead and romance was my favorite part of the show. I think Yelu Xie was a fan favorite too If I remember…
She's matched up with Peter Ho's character. I don't want to spoil much about his character so I'll leave it at that. This drama is really old so I don't know if it'll be outdated for you, but back then I purely watched it for Liu Shi Shi and definitely enjoyed it!

So I took a break from asian dramas and I actually miss watching them. This is one of my fav historical/Romance…
Ooooh, it seems like no one has recommended this drama to you yet, but if you're into dark romance with serious black flag vibes—similar to Goodbye, My Princess—you have to check out Love & Bid Farewell. It's borderline toxic, full of angst, bloodshed, and deep emotional turmoil. Unlike Goodbye, My Princess, this drama doesn’t shy away from fully embracing its dark and twisted themes. The male and female leads absolutely ate their roles—their acting was phenomenal.

Does Liu Shi Shi have a big role in this drama?
Her male lead and romance was my favorite part of the show. I think Yelu Xie was a fan favorite too If I remember correctly.

One major issue that’s been bugging me is the soul situation. I really don’t like that Xi Yue is in Xi Yao’s…
LOL, I'm at the point where I want to drop this. I decided to stop for now at ep 16. Will see if I pick it back up tomorrow.

IDK if I'm correct, but so far from what I can see, It seems like the two sisters are supposed to be the same person or avatar whether it'd be Xiyue or Xiyao. I just have a hard time, still, rooting for the FL when she can't really see herself as Xi Yao and all the horrible things that she did to Xiyao.

So far, I’m on episode 8, and the drama is not bad, but not that good either.
Ep 15: Oh man...Emperor is wicked! I hope Yan and Yi team up.

One major issue that’s been bugging me is the soul situation. I really don’t like that Xi Yue is in Xi Yao’s body. It just doesn’t sit right with me. The original Xi Yao went through so much pain, betrayal, and heartbreak, and now she’s not even here to revenge herself. Xi Yue doesn’t deserve to be in her place because she just doesn’t care. She’s only doing it to complete her mission. It’s hard for me to root for someone like that. That said, I give props to both actresses because they are doing a great job especially the FL actress as she's playing two characters.

Now, let’s talk about Liang Xin. That maid got off way too easy. Like, excuse me? After everything she did, she just gets to walk away like nothing happened? Nope. She needs to be humbled and dragged through a redemption arc, minimum. LOL because I'm petty.

Also, I have zero clue where the story is headed. Without the original Xi Yao present, it feels like we’re missing the emotional backbone of the whole plot.

And don’t get me started on those flashbacks. They’re so disjointed and keep interrupting the flow. The writers really should’ve dropped all those backstory scenes in the first few episodes and then moved forward with the time reset.

I am 💯with you on the FL's make-up and loving the angst, lol. It's soooo ridiculously over-the-top on the melodrama…
Seriously, FL's makeup was too much.

You and me included then because I loved the angst lol. 🤗

Tell me about it! I've gone through most of his dramas where he's the male lead within this past 2 weeks, and I've been trying to get my sisters to watch him too! 😄 He's sooo good!

Totally agree about Fan Zhi Xin. I've watched him in a few dramas and he is so good. Where I really realized how…
Okay, I'll take a look. He looks dashing in there too!

I disagree with everything you said about the FL. It doesn't always have to be the ML simping over the FL completely…
We can agree to disagree. No hard feelings. You like her character, that's fine. That doesn't mean that I have to like her character.

Not that she doesn't love him any less, but you can tell that he loves her more just by his action. He's willing…
LOL, I have a feeling we are never going to come in terms together. If the odds were switched in her favor, I would have defended ML regardless, but it's not so of course I would defend the FL because I understood why she did what she did too.

What did she do to manipulate the ML? Was it when they were playing their love game and she used the SML? Emotional punishment? When? When she said she liked SML instead of him?...They made a bet. The ball's in either one of their court so both would try to win. Of course, she's coming off meaner because she's serious about kicking him out while he's taking it as a chance to win her heart-their goals were already different from the start. This doesn't mean that she's manipulating him, but because she's serious about kicking him out. Again, it reiterates communication. It's not like she lacks common sense, if ML had told her, she wouldn't even be doing all this. She didn't even make a big situation out of something when she found out that she was not her father's daughter.

Again, with the slapping. Don't act like ML hasn't force kissed her too even when she hasn't slapped him yet. Why do you think she slapped him? Why do you think he force kissed her? Because both have emotionally hurt each other deeply. This is them subduing each other. Him kissing her emits power over her and her slapping him emits anger and disgust.

I understand ML is closed off and likes to hold things in because he doesn't want to hurt her. I know this, which is why I said he loves her more because I can see this. Again, why do you think FL's suspicious? It's because she doesn't know about ML's revenge plan. She's still trying to kick him out while being suspicious of his relationship with SFL. Sure, she's also jealous of SFL because she likes ML while not knowing his motives.

The attempted rape was not an accusation. He did try to attempt it. Why do you think he threw her on the bed and try to tie her hands with his belt. If he wanted to lock her in the bedroom, he could have easily thrown her in the room and jam the door lock. Why do you think he looked so shock when she slapped him back to his senses?

There's no double standard. If I was doing that I wouldn't even be defending him and mainly paint him in a bad light all the way. I'm only defending her because you're bringing up things about her. If people were talking about his character, I'd defend him regardless so IDK where you get me being double standard. If you want to defend him, go ahead, but don't be bring me into your double standard reasoning.

Ugh, but I'm tired of this back and forth. If you want to reply back just know that I'm not going to reply back.

Okay... I stated that both leads make mistakes, aren't perfect, and are flawed. That was my main argument. Every action they take is a consequence of their own choices. In this case, it's a fact that the ML started the issue—this isn’t a justification, just stating what happened. You're rewording my point as if I'm saying, "because he did it first, he deserves it," which isn’t what I said at all. Why does the FL have to understand what the ML is going through if he doesn’t even communicate with her?

The ML gives back just as much as the FL. Don’t paint him as some weak character who can’t defend himself against her slaps and outbursts—because he’s dished it out too. If you want to draw comparisons, the same can be said about the FL. The ML had many opportunities to come clean with her about his identity and about finding out he was her brother, but he chose not to. Don’t forget, he verbally told her he was using her for revenge and even came close to attempting rape.

News flash: he did push her away.
Why wouldn’t the FL walk all over him when his relationship with the SFL is so ambiguous—and now the SFL is tied to her dad? She’s trying to protect her family and their heirloom. It’s also a fact that the ML wanted to destroy her father and take over.

I’m not saying the FL was right, but at least she acknowledges her mistakes and apologizes—which is better than acting like nothing happened. People make mistakes; that’s why apologies exist. To move a relationship forward, you need to realize when you're in the wrong. When the ML tested the FL’s feelings, he never apologized for it.

There’s no need to reverse gender roles here—both have hurt each other deeply, both physically and verbally. What I want to know is: if they’re both bad to each other, why does the ML get a pass and not the FL?

I disagree with everything you said about the FL. It doesn't always have to be the ML simping over the FL completely…
It doesn't have the be to the point where ML has to devote his life to her. I like the way how ML is written because it goes with his character. He's been bullied since young and the only thing he has in his mind is to come back and rightfully take his place. I don't mind that.

I also don't mind when a FL pursues the ML, but their relationship has to be like a balance pursuit yet her character comes off a bit strong at times out of character. In her mind, all she thinks about is the ML; no ambitions, no dreams, etc which is why I said she lacks dignity. If it was the other way around and we have the ML doing this, I'd still have issues with it too. It's the way how she's written. If I'm wrong, tell me what else did her character do besides stick with ML and her working for a bit doesn't count?...

Also, I never said that I was okay with the ML doing all the pursuing, but the lack of him doing it. For example, in the republican Cdrama, "The Princess", FL was the first to say I Love You to the ML and is not afraid to initiate intimacy first yet she still has her priorities and things she needs to do. Or even Fan Zhi Xin's recent drama, "Game of True Love", he pursues the FL, but the FL also flirts back at times with him, yet he still has his own priorites; his revenge and his work which his character clearly stated that he doesn't want dating to bring down the impact of his work, yet his character still manage to show that she's more important than anything.

I don't mind FL's pursuit on ML unless the writer makes their relationship more balanced and FL is also on the receiving end. It sounds like I'm yapping at the FL, but it's because I see the imbalance in her character; his priorities over hers. Why does the ML get to recieve all the loving and not her? Doesn't she deserve it too?

DNA test is the real plm in every dramas.🤣🤣🤦‍♀️
They didn’t show the scene, but the male lead had already done the DNA test when he first found out, which is how he knew. This was later mentioned by the second female lead to the female lead.

😂🤣 I love the ending! Brought a smile to my face because of how silly, yet reasonable it was.

Besides that, FZX is always nailing his role. His character was interesting and charismatic, but I feel like at times his character couldn't do much and was powerless to the situation because of his background. He looks hot in here too! Loved all his long coats.

The FL started off awkward in ep 1 and kind of found herself along the way; she's kind of rusty for an actress but I've seen worst. Surprisingly, I think she's one of FZX's best visual FL actress but their chemistry was okay.

The story started off pretty interesting and then half way I found myself wanting it to end already. I was super annoyed at the loud and constant background musics; plus all the slow mos and dramatic scenes. If we take away all this, the drama wasn't too bad.

I agree with you. 10-15 eps would have been good.

Sometimes, those long dramas doesn't mean that the story quality is any better. I am thankful that his dramas aren't the 1-2 min eps because oh lawd those would have killed me. Also, I'm just glad that FZX has some nice diverse work where I can enjoy his acting.

Honestly, for this drama I skipped all unnecessary scenes and characters. If I were to watch this drama in time frame by time frame, I would have pulled out my hair in frustration.

I didn't mind FL's styling. She's pretty and had on nice clothes. Like you said, her clothes were already screaming center of attention so I think they could have tone down her makeup tbh.
