Ehhh, could have been better. Second half dragged on with ex boyfriend's story, and I had to double check if he wasn't the male lead because it felt like he was. No real romance development between the two main leads especially the FL. Also, I still feel iffy that FL was with the ex for 7 whole years.
Goodness. This drama was OTP ridiculous and silly! The writing was a complete garbage, but somehow it was hilariously addicting. The story had an interesting premise, but the bad writing and bad directing couldn't save this - it was a complete mess.
At first, I was on the FL's side and gave her the benefit of doubt but then later on she just upped another level of crazy denial by the end like whuuuut?...The actor for the ML looked quite arrogant at first but he grows on you. I especially loved his height and long legs lol. I definitely stayed watching this silly drama because of him though. His character was slow and too whip for the FL, but that was also the actor's charm.
Coming from their drama Lost and Found to this-chefās kiss. The leads looked amazing together, and the sexual tension? Through the roof. š„ Seriously, every glance and every near-touch had me holding my breath.
That said...the plot? A total mess. š I havenāt been this confused at a drama in a long time. Half of the time I was wondering what is even going on and why are the characters making these decisions?
Still, I have zero regrets watching it. Those steamy scenes were absolutely worth it! š
Rewatching this now, Iām realizing how underappreciated the piano scenes were at the time. Theyāve honestly…
Rara usually jumps to her own conclusion and we've seen this happen especially with the identity for dodosolsollalasol. If you think about it, she corrects herself at the end, "I thought you were dead. "
Also, Jun's mom never once mentioned to Rara that Jun is gone - just that he's ill and can no longer come to meet them. Jun's mom never said yes to Rara's question that he is dead. Like mother, like son. Sighs....
One thing they could have done with the epilogue was to have Jun say it to Rara instead of a voice over with old pics. This is saying that he beat the cancer because of his happy memories with her.
Rewatching this now, Iām realizing how underappreciated the piano scenes were at the time. Theyāve honestly become some of my favorite moments during rewatchāespecially the ones where Jun and Rara play together. And knowing that Go Ara put in so much effort, practicing for months to perfect her piano pieces, makes those scenes even more meaningful.
As for Jun, I'm a bit more open minded now to see that he can definitely pull off something like that ending. He was always this complicated mixāwarm and kind, yet secretive and selfish at times. He chose to carry everything on his own instead of leaning on the people who cared about him. Rather than letting Rara go through the pain with him, he pushed her away to protect her, even if it meant breaking her heart.
You have two very beautiful and broken souls who were meant for each other but couldnāt be together. Fake Hong Rangās backstory was so tragic. He suffered so much, both mentally and physically, from the moment he was born into this world and in the end, he didnāt even get a happy ending. He finally found a reason to live⦠but succumbed to the poisoning. :'(
Jae Yi spent most of her life waiting, and sadly, it seems sheāll continue waiting for the rest of her days. She lost her mother, father, brother, stepbrother, and lastly, her lover. The writer was incredibly cruel to both of them.
This was actually a really good story, but the drama suffered from having too few episodes, with the series ending at just episode 11. Because of that, the writer had to rush the story. There were plot holes that werenāt explained well and didn't make sense.
That said, the romance ā especially in the second half was done really, really well. Like I mentioned, the story was rushed, so we didnāt get to see a full process of how the leads fell in love. It jumped quickly from strangers, to curiosity, to care, to acceptance⦠and then BAM ā āI love youā LOL. It wouldāve been so much better if the drama had just one more episode dedicated to showing how they truly fell for each other. Still, they had a very beautiful love story. Also, I'm surprised that Jae Yi didn't get pregnant when she's slept with Fake Hong Rang like three-four times.
As for the characters I hated ā obviously the selfish dad who only cared about himself, and the obsessive stepbrother who didnāt know when to stop. The stepmom was mean to Jae Yi, but she served more as a background character than anything else. And we canāt forget that psychotic Grand Prince. Sighs.
Alsoā¦I still canāt believe the real Hong Rang was always so close to Jae Yi all along. That part was heartbreaking too.
Honestly, it's a good watch, but I couldn't rate it higher due to the plot holes and underdeveloped romance at the beginning.
š¬ If he couldn't even realize that the FL he chose to act in that drama couldn't act while on camera on set…
I didnāt even finish it to see how bad the storyline got, but I just find it funny how you called out the whole cast except for the female lead. I agree the writing was bad and the characters were written poorly, but I have to disagree about the actress not being the problem. Honestly, I thought she gave the weakest performanceāno emotion, no reaction. I didnāt feel anything for her character, and thatās why I stopped watching. Thatās just how I felt, and itās totally fine if others see it differently.
Impossible heir, director? what abt writer? i really hated Impossible heirš„²
š¬ If he couldn't even realize that the FL he chose to act in that drama couldn't act while on camera on set as he's directing then uhhhh....see yah š.
I kept getting distracted by FL's mature look that I had to double check her age. She's pretty ngl.
Also, I felt so awkward whenever the leads are close together. Plus, they're not selling me on their romance (Could be coming from the ML, he's handsome, but needs more acting lessons). They give off a vibe of a real pair of siblings that are just kissing each other š¤®.
OmGah! FL's character is so annoying and slow š. She knows that her boyfriend has these bad traits and he's…
š I just got to the part where ML offers her two choices to choose from and he'll help her mom. Can I say those 2 choices are so bad š¤£. He didn't even offer a lifetime deal š . Even I wouldn't choose; either be a mistress until gawd knows when or be a divorcee in 1 year. sighs... edit: nvm, ML purposely said 1 yr for a reason.
Also, It's so ridiculous how FL keeps needing to get saved like the repetition is real.
Was "A Chinese Odyssey" by Stephen Chow out during this era? š¤£š¤£š¤£
OmGah! FL's character is so annoying and slow š. She knows that her boyfriend has these bad traits and he's not ALL that perfect which she makes him out to be and she let's him slide like giiiiirl, get out of here!
ML is handsome! I've always seen him as a support role in other dramas, but didn't think he was THAT good looking until I saw his other traditional drama where he play as a jerk general. He was quite good looking in there so I had to check out this one and boy he's handsome in here!
You are going to wait a long time for round 2. This is TPOB, not Bridgerton āThe duke and Iā lol. I just want…
š Your comments were so funny!
I feel like I'm laughing but I feel the same way as I've read the novel so I understood your frustration. At least, give me the angst with the plot! š„²
