Ofc they don't get paid. Many popular idols get their paycheck after several years of career because their income had been cut entirely or partially to pay their cost /debt for training, debuting and producing music. Promoting in tv and other media also requires money. They pay to secure a stage in tv.
During the process of paying debt, they rely of allowance from the company or simply ask family support.
This practice apply for all of idol agencies in SK. (Only YG CEO said they don't charge a debt to their trainee, because they splurge money into trainee s as investment. Either it will vanish or come to fruition someday. But we don't know behind the closed door)
I remember a girlband that disbanded after several years and they literally didn't make money.

Even if those idols put away the money problem, they still receive harsh treatment from their agencies. But not all agencies sucks.
The recent case from omega/ OX boyband is a tip of an iceberg.

I think signing exclusive contract in Japan n Korea is quite scary. I saw many Japan talented actors went downhill after trying to break (long term) contract, by force or naturally. They also cannot demand works if they lose favor from agency.

Many idol singers didn't get much from their musical career. Producing and promoting music can be expensive. So the agency cuts the artist's income to cover the cost -mercilessly. Then we hear about the term 'minus singer'. With that clause, the agency manipulate LSG into believing that he was a minus one. It understand able if he didn't seek further info since he put his trust to agency that managed his career since forever. Perhaps he didn't think much either, since he had other income source s, from acting, mc and cf.
In this case, he is betrayed by people whom he trust.
