I had watched many palace themed dramas from many countries. In power struggle, it often the mother (be it concubine, royal concubine, the queen) who push through their son to be noticed by the king and the court. Their battle is even under the current and can be bloody messy. Resulting in a death or power stripped. Being a queen in ancient times doesn't mean you're safe. You're either the subject or object of a conspiracy. There are stil many women eyeing the position. Being pressed to produce a heir, you also ought to protect the sons because they're vulnerable, most likely to get premature death. Once they passed childhood and reach adolescent, you should make sure they secure a position in court by living the public's expectation.
After a pain I can get hold of the movie with sub (not Engsub though). I can't find any Eng sub in daddict or any blog. It seems Arashi's fangirls has disappeared along the time.
The second female lead wears the same dress for five years LOL!
That is the problem usually found in China's low-budget dramas. IDK why. Should we blame the creative team, the stylist or the director? Why didn't they store their fashion props? It could be reusable in another filming. Also, they didn't need to buy real branded stuff to adorn rich ML/FL. Why didn't they search for cheap local brands on TaoBao? IDK how stylists in K and J drama cope with a limited budget, but in my country, the crew hunted wardrobes to the extent they bought them at cheap thrift shops. The production team often lobbies some fashion label or fashion store to get a free or sponsored wardrobe. Certain actors even brought their belonging to wear, like high-end clothes, branded bags and accessories, etc.
This drama was made by the team who made the Himura Hideo series. lol One-shot special drama is usually not special at all, unless it comes from a popular drama as a continuation or sequel.
Didn’t have much to add from the previous movie but overall enjoyable. Were they hinting romance at the end…
Indeed at the end of the movie, they are hinting a romance. Meanwhile, writer Keigo Higashino often makes that kind of pair/couple. Man and woman work together to solve a problem without any romance involved. They're just a working partner. Even if there is a case, it is probably a platonic one that doesn't satisfy the audience.
Glad I didn't watch this in a cinema. Otherwise, I would fall asleep while watching the movie. lol If you don't want to miss the detail, watch from the start to the end with a wide eye open. I don't mind if they will make a sequel again, I think I'll watch it.
I think I had watched it for one or two eps then dropped it. Keigo Higashino's novel often good, but maybe it is sometimes hard to visualize into motion picture. The execution is simply poor.
Like I had a hardtime watching Parallel Love something, but I could watching Midsummer's Formula again and again.
They can elaborate this drama into 20-24 episodes. When I scroll the director's name, I think I have watched his previous drama. They are great too! The director can make generic theme dramas into interesting ones.
Btw what can you expect from MBS channel? Lol

While watching, I can't help thinking about Hana and Matsujun that they are both alumni of Eitoku Gakuen. 😂
