Intentional, most likely by Kudokan request.
the more I watch this, i find the accent quite enjoyable and endearing. It's a really fun series, with some pretty cool surprises. And the fact that several of the actors are speaking english is pretty cool too!

Title All the Long Nights Spoiler
Was a misread on my part. With Mone and Hokuto as the leads I was expecting this movie to be a romcom or something, but the very first scene along with the music just dictated the direction. That said, I watched it and rather enjoyed it. It was just everyday life with people struggling with things, many things that are out of their control. Adapting and accepting, going with it until something changes - or not.

Maybe just too many dramas to watch, I gave ep 1 a watch but I really couldn't get into it. Both FL and ML didn't do much for me, and honestly didn't feel anything. When ep 2 comes out I might give it a watch and see if this series is worth it.

I seriously cant stand the 2 nd lead . I love the way ml came in the last scene
IKR! I can't seem to get him as 2ML after seeing him in My Lovely Liar. And then there's that weird curly do!

This is so cute! Finally the Koreans are back with romantic stories! I am loving it so far!
Definitely looks like a great start watching ep 1 and 2. Fingers crossed the light romantic aspects stays througout. While several series were fantastic over the past few years, there's often a dark or dangerous element added near the last few episodes, which really kind of distracts the enjoyment.

IKR! I really like Koike Eiko and think she is a great actress, but her english in this series is so cringe. But this is hearing her with a NA ear. I suppose the Japanese audience might not really notice the difference as likely they would be reading the subtitles.

Yeah, I think many series seem to be too long or too short, and sometimes scenes or situations get dragged out…
In general Japanese series tend to be 10 episodes. Some can be as little as 7 or 8 and on occasion 11 or 12. I think the numbers tend to work into the TV networks scheduling structure. I also like that sometimes particularly popular series they may also do an SP movie, like a 90 minute or 2 hr special. These are always nice as a closer for a series.

Inspector Ju was the highlight of Episode 9, he had me in stitches 😂
The cafeteria scene was hilarious!

This show was going very well until the 8th episode. I think the last two episodes were too slow. Pacing remains…
Yeah, I think many series seem to be too long or too short, and sometimes scenes or situations get dragged out longer than needed to tell the story. I understand often they need to cut short or extend series based on if the series get picked up by Netflix, Disney, Prime. and I think some of the original writing of the series were based on the typical Korean 16 episode format. That's why I sometimes prefer the Japanese format where 10 episodes is the typical norm, although for some favorite players I will complain the 10 episodes series is too short! LOL.

Wow, I really liked this story. It was dismal throughout, portraying the unfairness of not only the caste system, and those that are deemed untouchables and the suffering they endure. The FL is the grand daugher, who's only crime along with her father is being born. The crime of the grandfather follows them throughout their lives, I presume her father has grown to accept, as does she. But circumstances drive her from the town, good riddance by the town elders, only to seek her return in order to sacrifice her to the gods. The twist at the end was quite satisfying.
This movie has little action, and is rather unpleasant in most parts of people being treated as waste, although from what I have seen still exists today.

A very interesting story. On a rapid FF binge style watch, it appeared to be just a slow ride for the ML to get over his recently deceased wife. But as some parts piqued my interest, I spent time to re-watch the movie and found so many layers. It was surprising in search of the reasons for a loved one's passing and finding peace, it also greatly affects those who help as well. There was a bit of a twist, and the ending is left open ended, but it was good to see the FL experiencing catharsis with not only her family's demise, but over the loss of her true loves in her past.
I really enjoyed this movie having given the time to watch it through. Yes, it was slow in parts but seemed about right for those scenes.

Title This Is Amiko Spoiler
Interesting story, I got invested in with the daughter's situation. She has some autism or some disorder, but it would appear it may have been inherited from her mother who while initially appeared distant slowly falls to mental health issues. I can see the toll it takes on the father, trying to balance his work, taking care of his ill wife and the time for his daughter evaporates. Her father's only decision as the mother's condition worsens is to leave her with her grandmother. I can't help but think how while the mother is being treated for MH issues, it seems that the daughter also shows many similar traits. Without diagnosis and treatment program, history will repeat as she gets older.
Anyways, I found this movie quite enjoyable, the young actress carries herself very well.

I rarely hate movies, but this one definitely went into POS territory quickly. I was just okay with the FL, but ML was utterly unwatchable. Creepy AF this movie should have been a serial killer flick than romance. Honestly there is almost zero romance between the 2 leads, just creepy stalker interchange vibes.
Don't waste your time.

Why the low expectations?
I had the same feeling, but I gave it a watch but ready at any time to switch it off. I was thinking it would become one of the girl boss types where all kinds of special forces skill miraculously gets bestowed onto the team, but never happened. FL played a very down to earth, beaten by the system's inability for justice but stubborn woman who was able to get her revenge on the scammer - at the expense of her face. I felt was a good movie, and I was glad I watched it, and recommended to my wife to watch, she likes these kinds of movies.

Title Out
I just wandered onto this movie, and hadn't expected much more than just another brainless fightfest yankee/yakuza type of movie. But watching a bit, then another bit and before I realized I was quite engrossed into the movie. All the actors played well in their parts (that is to say - gangstas) but also the interactions between them seemed well fitted. While I haven't read the manga to know the entire story, what the film portrayed was quite good. One thing that I was quite intrigued was how the young actor Kura Yuki reminded me of a hybrid of Yamada Takayuki and Suda Masaki from different angles. Maybe that's what also kind of captivated me, as both of those actors are among my favorite actors. Anyways, this was an entertaining movie that I spent an afternoon watching without any regrets.

Title Say Yes Again Spoiler
thanks for the review, i don't like tragic/sad endings so will skip
While the ending is rough, honestly the first 1 hour 16 minutes was a very funny and heartfelt rom com in similar vein to groundhog day. My summation of that was it was a rom fantasy for the ML to grow up and accepting potential fatherhood. The last 10 minutes totally upends that fantasy revealing the time loops to be flashbacks and dreams.

I made my own edited version where I cut out the section from the bed scene to the end credits. My wife watched this version of the movie and she was very happy. If you are able to watch the movie and as soon as that bedroom scene ends just turn off the film, it is an entirely different movie, and well enjoyable.

Honestly the film itself was good, and my wife loved it of what she saw. I asked if she would like to see the full version revealing the intended ending and as she was happy with what I had shown her declined to watch the sad part.

Hope this helps a bit.

Title Extremely Inappropriate! Spoiler
possible that junko is nagisa's mother??
Episode 5 gives some clues that something catastrophic happened to both father and daughter after leaving the restaurant in the morning after the fitting session with the son-in-law. Hope nothing super sad, but looks like maybe a very rough ride.

This series still somewhat baffles me. While it has all the standard tropes and cliches in nearly every scene, they are done tastefully and does not border into any cringe territory. This is still playing on Netflix, and when just needing a pleasant distraction has been one of my goto series to put on. All the episodes still brings a chuckle or smile and sometimes after a hectic day, this is like a nice way to decompress.
Like I can't really put my finger on anything particular, but it's just a nice pleasant series.
