DId I miss something in prior episodes? Was there a reveal as to Eun Yu's bio dad anywhere? From the looks of it, she still didn't know who her bio dad was - although by that time she was no longer suicidal and I supposed no longer mattered as to her paternal origins.
Don't bother with this series if you are looking for similar stories or atmsophere like the original Japanese episodes. It seems like the writers didn't know if they wanted it to be Solitary Gourmet with side stories that provide an appetizer for the episode or Midnight Diner where the meal directly links to the human stories and drama. Most episodes the meals don't even start until nearly the 20 minute mark into the episode and in one or two he didn't even eat in any restaurant, just takeout bento box in the case of episode 6, and a takeout box soupy buns in episode 11. Too bad, I was really hoping for some scenics of Taiwan. They just decided to add more drama and theatrics to a relatively simple series of food enjoyment.
I agree with other posters, I think this movie could have benefited being a bit longer and explaining or elaborating some of the scenes they glossed over. Considering the anime was 12 24 minute episode so roughly just under 6 hours of story telling, I guess they tried to condense as much as possible. I did wind up watching the movie a second time to catch some added meaning, but it wasn't until I watched the anime more clarification came out.
While I would have loved a longer version, the entire movie still captivated me. I absolutely enjoy watching Meguro since Silent, and Imada from the Trillion Game.
I here for Namkoong Min everyone else is a bonus tbh. I hate that it's split into 2 parts
yeah, right? same here, NM will get me watching his series any time. From the looks of the initial opening, he is actually quite the fierce and able fighter, not simply a romantic lead. It looks like they have kept tight lipped on any of the plot as there is very little info (english translated) that tells any more of the story other than the brief description. While I will likely watch the entirety, my wife hates me if I get her hooked onto any long drama with an unhappy ending.
I haven't watched it but given the previews ive noticed she looks like a princess but I think it gets darker as…
Yeah, I'm hoping for a good outcome, but from the looks of things, and in light of several of NM's other series the ending often do not end with happily ever afters. Also, wondering how they break the 20 episodes to broadcast as 2 parter? They did the same with Big Bet taking 16 episodes and making it 2 parts, which kinda sucked for the wait.
So true. I felt the last scene in 9 would have been the perfect ending, and just let our imagination take us to whatever conclusion we would like. Actually I was left with a downer at last scene of ep 10.
So disappointing. To go from something fresh and great and to fumble it so bad is unfathomable. This show feels…
Yeah, I don't know what happens with the writing in some of these kdramas. The start is always so good, great writing, great characters, story lines, but yeah a few of the kdramas I've seen then just descend into mediocre or simply garbage second half episodes. Like you said, often it doesn't seem like the same writer/team did the entire series. Almost like, okay I'm done on my episodes - now finish it for me!
While the world's blood boils for In ho, I at the corner is equally weirded out about Mr. Roy Kim's character.…
But not sure if you saw his initial interactions with InHo, the first time he realizes InHo's passive negative attitude to offering his liver to his wife in first episode, and then ep 3 when she is now intern, InHo is pressuring Roy not to reveal that he is married to CJS. Roy is pretty intelligent and broke through the code that InHo really doesn't love his wife. But I don't think he was being opportunistic, I just think he just fell in love with her.
Wait another week for the conclusion to air. For me since started the series a way back, I'm sticking to the end, if only for the conclusion. I'm also on the fence as to my review, as I tend to hate watching series that have a long suffering protagonist and an insufferable antagonist that just don't know when to quit. I think the writers will drag out the divorce finalization to the very end - literally "will they/won't they" until the very last episode. Myself, like some other commenters are likely in the same boat for the ratings review - while currently 8 - 10 (earlier episodes are good and funny), will drop to 1 - 2 if there she eventually give in to reconciliation.
Kim Mi Kyung’s acting is so good, her micro expression always on point, whether she’s surprised or angry or…
Yes, so much so! While she is usually in support roles, many of her scenes are impactful and life changing for the main characters. Her letter, and the scene as she is narrating it to Dr. Choi was so perfect, her expressions as it shows she really meant the words she wrote to her. I also liked her in Crash Course in Romance.
Holy smokes! Are they for real with the ending of ep14??? WTF is with her coughing up blood????????!!!!! Did her body reject the earlier liver transplant?????
Ouch, that hurts. Can you elaborate what you’re trying to say? Like, do you mean she acts really dumb or she…
I don't feel she looks dumb, but rather she seems to lack so much confidence. I felt that too that even tho she is really bright and had very good grades, she often appeared to question or doubt herself. Maybe it was just having made to kowtow for so many years, and getting used to the abuse from the MIL and her family? Yeah, many scenes with her were a bit infuriating as I thought she knew or could do much better if only she pushed back a bit. Also maybe just how she facial expression, but even as she tell him she wants a divorce, I couldn't get the feeling that she really means it. Just my thought anyways.
The trajectory of the show... Yeah 1/10 and dropped. The remaining episodes, the writer will just do mental gymnastics…
yeah I'm also very close to pressing the "drop button", especially now that she has seen the affair with her own eyes, and in light of her own personal development and achievements, if they write her going back would just be a kick in the nuts to everyone watching this series. I mean, has she forgotten that she was left to die by the actions of her MIL and husband and even the OW not to donate his liver to save her life? Yeah, that alone should have solidified her resolve to leave if they were so willing to let her die. Maybe I had higher hopes, just getting revenge for trying to kill her I had hoped maybe it could be more like that 1989 movie "She Devil" where Roseanne Barr gets totally even with cheating husband and all.
I felt bad for Dr. Choi after learning about her heartbreak and could somewhat justify her, but after her feeling…
Yeah, honestly each episode that ends with "Will she cave?" just drives me nuts. Although she is slowly getting her red pill, she still seems to waft back due to the long term effects of the blue pill. Hopefully the final episodes will see her just remove herself totally from such an uncaring spouse and MIL.
