I am hating Dong Fang Shi the more I watch, which may be the complete opposite of what others think of him (for now), maybe it's because I'm on episode 42??
I just realized... this drama has so much women empowerment: BuQi's intellectual street skills (along with her business savvy mind), Dong Fang Shi's female sidekick, Liu Ming Yue and all the female badasses with their kungfu and also healing skills (and vise versa with the poisoning skills), and the director casting a female to play a male character. :')
i just watched ep 38 and 39, i can already feel the annoyed comments about BQ. they'll be annoyed at BQ for being so jealous of CY and LQW. reminder for those folks: LQW killed BQ's uncle (and by that, ah huang died later because they had to run) so of course BQ would be annoyed (and not just jealous) that CY is taking care of LQW.
but on the other side, there will be people who are annoyed with CY for taking care of LQW. reminder for those folks: LQW saved CY's life and in that time, men would never let their savior be in a dangerous situation because they, in theory, owe their savior. CY is at a point where LQW hasn't (openly) done anything harmful to CY so CY has no reason to be anything but kind to LQW besides the fact that he loves BQ.
I think people just annoyed with her because she’s not popular like other actresses. And she’s not as pretty…
Ariel Lin has a lot of fans, especially from ISWAK and TKA (It Started With A Kiss and They Kissed Again) and she is a top star for sure. It's because all her fans are older and mature since all her top dramas are about 10 years ago while the fans of the newer actresses are young.
I think it also has to do with the fact that Ariel Lin acted mostly in Taiwanese dramas in the past, rather than Chinese dramas. And also the fact that she stopped acting for awhile after getting married so people haven't seen her on TV lately.
I actually don't feel bad for Dong Fang Shi at all, he isn't a sweet second male lead like Cousin Yun Lang, Dong Fang Shi always manhandles BuQi and continues to stalk and pursue her even though she clearly doesn't want him to. I think some people romanticize his stalking and manhandling too much... esp in episode 35.
I don't get why anyone hates the female lead. She is intelligent and loyal. For the conditions, she was born in, where she knew little of her identity and was forced to be a beggar despite having business wits, she is so brilliant. She uses her wits to trick people, be it through her intelligence or her acting. Come on, she used her acting to try to hitch a ride to the capital city with Cheng Yu not because she didn't want to walk but because she didn't want her uncle to have to walk.
People seem annoyed at how she is always saved by others due to her inability to fight for herself.... Did people expect a beggar who often goes days without eating to have superhero kungfu? Especially under the watch of her uncle who didn't want her to do anything to attract attention to them? Where else would you find a female lead that makes sure to remember Uncle Jiu and Ah Huang in every episode? It shows how loyal she is and family-oriented she is.
She is so brave. She confessed to Cheng Yu first! Half the time she has people trying to murder her, all she is doing is keeping herself alive and the people she loves alive. Did you guys not see her literally give her life away to Dong Fang Shi just to save her cousin? Y'all might think she was stupid for that but I think it proves her loyalty more than anything. She uses whatever limited power she has to do good and make sure she lives on. Nothing annoys me more than dramas where the female lead is selfish and only cares about her and the male lead. (i.e. female leads who cry for half a second after a second male lead are killed for their survival).
She doesn't even do anything about Mo Mother because she doesn't want her older brother and cousin to be in an awkward situation where they have to choose between her or Mo Mother. Come on,,,,,,,, there's so much to love about her which is why this drama is like a reverse harem where hella guys like her.
NOT TO MENTION HOW BEAUTIFUL ARIEL LIN ISSSSSS!!! She looks so good for her age.
Am I the only one who doesn’t like seri? I think it’s totally fine to not do what your parents want but if you are gonna rebel, move out and 100% rely on yourself. Instead she committed fraud and used her tuition money to follow her passion and then throws a tantrum when she is reprimanded for it. I don’t like Professor Cha anymore than she does but she isn’t showing me that she is the carefree and self reliant character that everyone seems to praise her for.
I’m not up to date yet so I don’t know if we got character development yet but if Yeh Suh did go to her dream…
Getting a job at a hospital would not be hard as long as you have the proper connections. Yeh Suh is probably a good student to her teacher, which is why her teachers use her as a good example of an ideal student who doesn't get into trouble.
