idk why i keep coming back on this page. I've watched this drama 3 times fully and several times for specific episodes/scenes but I can't get over it. this drama is so popular because it's wonderful but it is so sad to see that the more popular a show is, the more toxic fans can become. :( I hope we recognize our love for the drama in all of it's parts (storyline, script, actors, actresses, and more).
also, the witch-hunt on Xiao zhan right now is so sad... the whole ao3 ban is not even his fault at all. he literally did nothing. ofc people expect him to pay the price of what his fans did... poor Xiao zhan.
What a beautiful drama. The drama maintained my interest in every episode. A lot of longer dramas (especially historical dramas) become less interesting in the middle episodes where I only want to know the ending. This drama remained consistent and did not feel like there were a lot of filler episodes. The BL in this drama can be interpreted however the viewer wishes which is great. I’m so satisfied with this.
On another note, I was cringing when I watched Guangyao choking Jinling and Weiying with his string because it looked so painful. I cringed even more when I saw Guangyao without his arm (the same reaction when Xueyang’s arm was cut off).
The flashback of Weixian’s death in episode 33 was executed very well. Made me super emotional. Seeing Jiangcheng unable to stab Weixian and hearing Lanzhan scream “Weiying” and not let go despite Weixian trying to loosen his grip was so sad and realistic. Very happy that they showed us all of that.
Also the fact that Jiangcheng doesn’t attack or kill Weixian after discovering that he has been “reborn” in episode 34 shows how much Jiangcheng is still secretly looking for his brother, the twins of Yunmeng.
Looking at episode 45 to 48 at least the crown prince has memory loss, what does A’du and her teachers has to…
Nah, I don’t think the teacher pretending to be her lover is worse. The crown prince is the one who really played the biggest role in the assassination of her family. Plus, him losing his memory on purpose is stupid. He did it so he could live without the guilt
The writers want to give them an alternative ending... which is very funny considering how I don’t think even the original ending is cruel enough for ML. I’m pissed off at the original ending tbh... why should FL kill herself and then ML lives suffering and then kills himself? Yes ML suffers but FL doesn’t have it any better. She freaking dies just because of hate and guilt (of even loving ML two separate times). She doesn’t deserve death. She deserves the opportunity to find someone who has nothing to do with any of this and live life with him in a place far far away in love.
He deserves way worse considering how he doesn’t suffer for killing off so many innocent people... he only suffers and feels bad for being caught by the one he loves.
And now the writers want to give an alternative happy ending? Funny...
Please tell me how different is the series to the book...This just got me so i want to know how the directors…
Hey, would you mind giving me the spoilers of the novel? What is Cheng Yin's ending? Does he die lonely? How does Xiao Feng enact her revenge? Thank you!
There is absolutely no way for us to forgive Cheng Yin. He has played a significant role in the death of Xiao…
Another note, for those who are rooting for ML+FL, saying that ML is simply using SeSe for political reasons, how is that ANY different from when the ML used our FL's feelings to ultimately betray FL? You guys saying that he is using SeSe is supporting my statement that he is complete garbage who uses one woman and then another.
There is absolutely no way for us to forgive Cheng Yin. He has played a significant role in the death of Xiao Feng's entire family, the citizens, the army. Not only in one kingdom but in Dan Chi as well as Western Liang. There is no way for her to forgive him and if she does, it would be morally disgusting.
I do not feel an ounce of pity for Cheng Yin and I'm on episode 28... I know they will end up together, or even if this drama has a "sad" ending where they both die, I know the writers will let them die together in love. I can't even stand the thought of her loving him. Every time I think about Ah'Du and her brother and everyone from Western Liang and Dan Chi, I feel so angry about Cheng Yin. He had the opportunity to stop and run away to live with Xiao Feng in Dan Chi (which no one except the people of Dan Chi knows of its whereabouts) happily but he gave the location of Dan Chi away.
I know everyone seems to hate the male lead right now, I really hope this energy remains for the rest of this drama. Xiao Feng deserves a happy ending, with someone who has entirely zero ties with Li Empire, Western Liang, and Dan Chi. Give us what Xiao Feng deserves.
Sorry but apparently love does NOT conquer all, seeing as Cheng Yin ultimately betrayed Xiao Feng.
I'm on episode 9. The fact that the real King is assassinated is keeping me from continuing. I really enjoyed the dual characters that Yeo Jin Goo portrayed. I thought it was so important to the storyline to have the King relearn how to live a genuine life as a normal citizen after paying for his crimes (not by law since all his "crimes" were done as a king) through karma. I understand that there is no way he can regain the viewers' love (if we had any for him in the first place) but killing off all of the "evil" characters is not really a life lesson, in fact it's kind of the easy way out.
I do think that the King's death was really beautiful and done very well but I really would've loved seeing him survive and live life quietly (starting with rehab from all that opium).
Usually I hate it when we don't get to see the main characters together (as in scenes together) within 2 episodes but the loyalty and longing Chen Yu and BuQi are able to possess is unlike others. If you think about it, 10 episodes is YEARS in the drama's time. The capitol and Zhu Manor are so far from each other, one has to travel months to reach from one destination to the next. And despite the fact that they can't see each other for months/years yet their bond continues to be un-impacted is terrific.

I’m so impatient and really want to know Jiang Cheng’s (and everyone else’s) reaction when he finds out how he truly got his golden core back.
I’m pissed off at the original ending tbh... why should FL kill herself and then ML lives suffering and then kills himself? Yes ML suffers but FL doesn’t have it any better.
