A little sad that this masterpiece sits at an 8.2 on MDL. I sometimes wonder if dramas that don’t get an American Netflix release are automatically at a disadvantage when it comes to international ratings and visibility.
I also think LFY is off the beaten path because its romance doesn’t follow the progression viewers are accustomed to. Chen Yi and Miao Jing weren’t two strangers slowly falling in love. Their relationship was at its peak long before the story even began. The journey was never about getting them to love each other. They already did.
The real journey was Chen Yi learning that Miao Jing was not choosing him because she had no other choice. She had choices. She had a life. And yet, after everything, she still came back to him.
He spent years believing that loving her meant sacrificing himself so she could have a better life. Miao Jing had to teach him something far more powerful: she wasn’t with him because he was her only option. She was with him because, when given every option, he was still the only one she wanted. ❤️
And perhaps that’s why their love feels so different. They weren’t building something from scratch. They were finding their way back to something that had never truly been broken. ❤️
Up until finding out about her two exes. I'm not against dating other's but it wasn't the kind of true love I…
Chen Yi forced the separation because he believed it was the only way to protect Miao Jing. Miao Jing never doubted his love for her, but she also never accepted his decision to choose her life for her. He asked her to leave, move on, and live her own life.
So, for me, her casual relationships never took away from what she felt for Chen Yi. If anything, I think they showed him something important: Miao Jing had choices. She wasn’t standing at his door because she had nowhere else to go. She was there because, after having the freedom to experience life and make her own choices, she still chose him.
Chen Yi had always taken responsibility for her, protected her, and loved her in the only way he knew how—by trying to shield her from the dangers of his world. But Miao Jing needed him to understand that she wasn’t a helpless girl whose fate had simply been thrown into his hands. She was a woman capable of choosing her own life.
And her choice was Chen Yi. ❤️
That’s why I never saw her return as, “I have no one else, so I’m back at your door.” It was the complete opposite. It was, “You told me to go live my life. I did. And now I’m here because I have decided that you are the person I want to share it with.”
Chen Yi spent years sacrificing himself because he thought loving Miao Jing meant giving her the freedom to find someone better. Miao Jing came back to teach him that being chosen is not the same as being needed. She didn’t need him to survive. She wanted him. And I think Chen Yi needed to understand that distinction more than anything. ❤️
Oh to me, this is the best show of 2026. Watch it when you are ready to give time to the leads. Their journey is incredible but you have to live it with them. A solid 10/10.
Song Wei Long, thank you for giving us a masterpiece. Your acting in Love for You was absolutely flawless. I was obsessed with Shine on Me, and somehow, Love for You surpassed even that. Wishing you endless success, contentment, happiness, good health, and prosperity. May you continue to shine and bless us with many more unforgettable performances❣️
I'm watching this again now and what kind of idiotic female becomes attracted to someone who, only 30 secs after…
Read through all your comments and I loved reading your frustration. It was very well portrayed. I also enjoyed your love hate relationship with this film. You watched it again & couldn't put it down. Seems like this film has that charisma that gets us drawn to bad boys 😂 anyways thanks for your continued work. It saved me from unavoidable angst♥️

You got great taste. Yup! milk, sugar & coffee go hand in hand. Sometimes when i go a bit crazy, i add the orange grind with or without cinnamon stick to the percolator. Depending on how cold the mornings/nights are, a dash of cocoa & coffee granules whipped together with milk give me the fragrance that keeps you going. What flavors you prefer in your coffee?
Soon. The drama doesn't tell us everything straight out. For example, the scene where he hugged her from behind…
The point of that musical scene was actually quite interesting. Those jealous girls were subtly implying that they had a chance with Chen Yi, while Miao Jing didn’t because she was “just a sister.” So, in his own clever way, he was telling them that Miao Jing was just as much his sister as any other girl on the street. 🤣😂 I loved his creativity, even at such a young age!
Btw, kudos to you for staying on board even without his yearning. You’re way more loyal than me, I would say. 😂♥️

Thanks for sharing your list. I need to start Road to success otherwise I will be lost in the constant loop of LFY. Give TBT a chance when you are in a very different mood. It's only about healing with very slow progression. I wouldn't like to impose but only suggesting as You enjoyed Our Generation. TBT is like watching a snow fall. A person who is sitting with a coffee cup, observing from a window will have a very different outlook from someone who has to drive across town on a time crunch so please give it a try when you are in the coffee cup zone. I love all your repeat choices. Strangely though I love the leads but I never watched Love like the galaxy. Somehow the wig of ML bothered me & I couldn't get past that. (So petty, I know;) Same, I was absolutely loving Key to the Phoenix heart. Loved the story & adored the leads yet dropped it after the ML went touring;) not sure how much time you have on hand. There is a strange show that I absolutely love & it's not main stream. It's called Definitely Not Today. I think I have never seen such a unique show in C-world. I hope you get to enjoy it one day.

Happy rewatching. There are a few shows that are keep playing in background when I'm between shows. Some of My newer favorites are Shine on me, love between lines, love in the clouds, The best thing and now Love for you has made to the list. What is your comfort watch list?
