Agreed! My anti Q Yan zhi comment is strictly for the character of the older sister. Nothing to do with the actress her self. If anything the actress is doing such a good job that the character is more hateful. I can’t wait for the older sister to know that Qiyan purposely shot the arrow in a way that two of them can have a chance at life. You r right about ur sentiments. To be honest, even if now Q-Yan-zhi leaves Qiyan, doesn’t get physical with him or even passes away, she cannot undo the fact that she married the love of her younger sister. Eewww gross 🤢

So I randomly picked this show up from episode 5 and onwards. I am so glad I did so. I came to this page all excited but scrolling through the remarks, it seems like the first 5 episodes made the folks tired of this show. Future followers- please start the show from episode 5. It is one cute thing to watch. The ML is always low key jealous and his acting for the role is apt. The FL is so cute. I have seen her period shows before and to see her in a non ancient drama is a breath of fresh air. Her acting as well as her screen presence is adorable. Last thing, the English subs actually make sense so thank u subbing team.

Absolutely adore the work of Xu Kai. I have enjoyed Yang Mi’s work but I am not into “Noona” themed shows anymore. I have seen tooooo many of them already in Korean tv.

I am with you on your thought process. The character is well written, full of enthusiasm, devotion and blind trust in Qiyan. She is oblivious of the fact how slowly she is changing the core of people around her.

Yup, I love her in the show from day 1. Everyone else is just simply a corrupt character so I love our diamond in the mud. I am glad we share the fondness.

I love this show due to the female lead. In the midst of cunning times of constant plotting, she is shown to be an innocent believer. I love how the Male lead is portrayed as a weak and vulnerable king who has fallen for a sword bearer who herself is much weaker. It’s not her strength but her believe in him and her innocence that is the focal point of the plot. I can’t believe how Zhang Yu Xi is portraying the character of Yu’er/Chong Ruo flawlessly. The cherry on top is her million dollar smile. The smile that jolts life back into dying and dejected Qi Yan every time.

I get it’s the need of the plot but I am going to wait on this. Caught up till episode 44 without subs. It’s been a while that they have been legally married in the Changan world and I still can’t believe Qi-Yan married the sister and vice versa. Since I love Qiyan and Yu’er, please let me know when this marriage is null and void. No wonder Qiyan fell for Yu’er as she doesn’t involve herself in conniving plots. Yu’er has always been very vocal about her devotion for Qiyan. The older sister, no matter how much was the need for the chess player, still should not have married the absolute love interest of younger sister. Older sis is cancelled ! 0/Zero/Zilch sympathy vote from me.

Loved Xu Kai’s acting in the show. This may have been even better if the no. of episodes were cut in half.

I will have to agree with you. Like u, I am so vested in them that I can barely wait for the new episode to air. I am caught up till episode 28. Love the leads even more with every passing episode. The story is so gripping as well.

I thought Yan Zhi knew all along that Qi Yan shot the arrow. In the flashback She is shown to be quite aware of the situation and the past events. It explains her plotting and hatred.

Ok I am getting depressed. It seems apart from Yu’er no one is nice to Qi Yan. His acting is piercing through my heart. I can’t imagine what his acting will do to me when Yu’er will learn that Qi Yan shot the arrow. I am contemplating if I should stop following the show and resume when all the episodes have aired. So I can just go to the happy place or be a loyal subject and live the pain along Qi Yan and Yu’er. What do u suggest?

Loving these leads in Stand by me. I am hoping to see so much more of them together. They have great chemistry.
