By far the best k-drama I’ve watched in 2024-2025! The storyline develops slowly but with great originality, offering a good mix of suspense, unconventional romance, comedy, and action.

Regarding the science-fiction aspect, it’s true that this genre is often judged more harshly, as it appeals to a more discerning audience. However, let’s not forget that even blockbusters like Armageddon, Jurassic Park, or Gravity (and many others, whose major scientific flaws I could detail here) contain inconsistencies. Yet, when it comes to Hollywood, we believe in it? The secret to their success? When a film or series manages to fully captivate and immerse its audience, these details become secondary.

That’s exactly what When the Stars Gossip achieves: despite taking some creative liberties with science, the action, and emotions are so well executed that we are completely drawn into the world of the drama.
I hope that this series, in terms of the sci-fi questions it raises, will dare to fully explore its
concepts.

For me, that would have been cheating if ML, while telling the first girl that he loves her, etc... continued his relationship with her but also had something going on with the second girl. This is exactly the case with FL’s ex-boyfriend – that’s cheating ! I think the author should develop each of the four characters in more depth more quickly. So far, we don’t have much information about them, which is why everyone interprets things differently...and 2 week's fact .... it’s just the style of narration... A perfect example of narration is Hamlet. He’s also an "imperfect hero" with flaws, but we understand and accept him because his character is well-developed. Perhaps we just need to wait until the end of the series ...??

Regarding the fact that he found someone else while still in a 'couple,' it’s not badly executed, but it's written in a very realistic way, much more than the fantasies often depicted in dramas where a boy and a girl in their 30s can sleep together chaste while still loving each other. At the beginning, he wasn’t sure of his own feelings for the first girl, but now he seems to have found a deep and mature love, which doesn’t rely solely on physical attraction, and he’s willing to sacrifice his life for her in such a short time.

However, what troubles me a bit in the narrative is the speed at which he seems to have felt this true and absolute love in just two weeks (considering the training before the departure). A connection like that in such a short time... After all, why not? I don't know.

I love your 1st comment, however I think all the actors you mentioned ( Gong You Lee Dong Wook Lee Min Ho or Gong Hyo-jin are on the A-list actors , and the director (who is much more important than an actor) is also on the A-list. Success is never predictable, but trying to diversify projects and step out of one’s comfort zone is always appreciated in the art of filmmaking. And yes, a script with flaws is something no one can truly fix during production or post-production. But this script also has good aspects; it's not something to discard entirely either.
And sometimes the audience may strongly reject a film upon its release because their expectations were different, leading to a strong reaction. But later, years down the line, they might come back to rediscover and appreciate the work. Conversely, a film might be a success in its time but fail to stand the test of time and fade from memory.

A quality work explores emotions, themes, or universal questions that resonate with humanity on a lasting level, whereas mainstream productions primarily aim to meet immediate audience expectations, often by following predictable formulas. One transcends trends, while the other conforms to them.

Personally, I prefer to TRY something experimental, even if it might be bad, rather than spend my time watching ten completely identical series, generated based on viewers' preferences – probably by AI. Yet, that’s the direction Netflix and other platforms seem to be heading. Even this site collects our behavior as viewers. Do you really think current productions don’t use that data? In series, there are three things: rapid consumption of what the audience likes to better insert product placements, standardization to maximize viewership, and often propaganda for trendy ideologies of the moment. I’m not saying this series is exempt from those three things ...But sometimes the balance is at its peak—what do you think?
