i'm with you on this one. at first they may sound weird, but with great execution, like here, these kinds of shows can be really unique, fun stories to follow. it's what sets kdramas apart from western shows for me, they're just so unabashedly sincere and writers aren't afraid to pull off the craziest plots and can do so without making any of the many genres involved feel lesser than the other. if honestly wouldn't be surprised if chicken nugget turns out to be a massive hit 😂 but if happens i'm all for it! more diverse stories is always a win

god i am glad that at least kim sun joo in the phone decided to stay, i don't think i would've been able to handle them leaving min ah without her dad (on top of ma pi dying, i am STILL sad about this). but does anyone know, if in the webtoon, he eventually wakes up? was the ending any different from the drama? i liked this ending, but i'm just curious.
this drama was so good and 100% an underrated gem among last year's shows! it isn't the absolute high of storytelling but it's entertaining in its own right and poignant in its own little ways :)
a thing i just realized– there's this funny dichotomy between his drama and his movie characters. sjk, in most or pretty much all of his drama projects, is always an attractive, dashing guy (and often even referred to as such within the story), smart and witty, sometimes even manipulative but always straightforward with what he wants. but then you go over his filmography and you have characters that are messy, unkempt, covered in dirt half the time, struggling with survival or grief or life in general and are never portrayed as "handsome heart throbs" at all. maybe eunseom is a special case bc he fits in here more lol. but it's hilarious because even his 3 new movie roles fit into that description. i'm sure he's not the only one like this but it's an interesting obvervation, maybe says something about how he approaches choosing his characters/scripts for dramas and movies differently ...the k-drama VS chungmuro lens 😂
