I love how the family dynamic are shown, they're so layered and well created. some things I noticed:
- Paranoid mom obviously disturbed because of bei yu's death, but still cares about her kids so much
- Kind of irresponsible dad who doesn't care about much but has a very Asian trait of wanting to support his parents/brothers financially while his own kids and wife don't have any money
- Good elder daughter who needs to be a good example for her brother, and is told to focus on studies like that's her only life
- Younger boy who thinks his parents only treat his sister well, family members give him money but not his sister.
At this point, Ruoxi still thought she can save 8th from his doomed fate by giving him all the information he…
could be! but i think her break up with 8th prince being because of what she knew. she just wanted him to forget the throne to not let those things happen. he chose the throne anyways, so she broke up. she also says "if I decide to be with him, we will still have 16 years. is it because that's too little, or do i not love him enough?" But even after this, again she asked him to give up his ambition. but he wouldn't so she did finally leave him.
It's not super clear to me either but i think the writers wanted to show that she didnt love him THAT much plus her knowledge of the future interfered.
It feels like you are talking about someone completely opposite to her.
tbh I loved both her romance dramas, so I'm not contradicting my statement. My point was just that most actors mostly do romance dramas (nothing wrong with that), and she's so pretty and also popular so I bet she gets many scripts for romance, but she chooses different things for herself. The cold girl character has appeared in only My Name and Gyeongsang Creature, so it's not like she's only done that. She's trying a little bit of everything and I love seeing it.

Every time Zhou Yi Ran comes on screen, I'm starry eyed
