I'm at ep 23 where there's supposed to be major tension/rescues happening, but the writing/direction/pacing is a drag. The central conflict is lackluster, and the Fiends are more compelling than the Hunters. The supposed villains are underdogs doing their darndest to survive in the world, but the heroes I'm supposed to root for simply because they are homo sapiens? The casting is really good though, gonna watch it to the end for completion's sake
Good grief. She's a journalist and a communicator. What happened? Always avoiding the topic and cannot be honest.…
I know! I get where she's coming from emotionally but the way she's handling all her romantic attachments irritates me - especially with Dr Lu when she's supposed to be even more mature by then. A age-gap relationship shouldn't be made to work by making the older one more juvenile -______- What happened to the candor and punch she had when dealing with her ex-husband???
I was just under the impression Jang Seong Cheol was loaded? I've forgotten the season 1 backstory now
I forgot most of S1 and S2 too tbh. It says more about me than the show that I can suspend my disbelief of their Batcave and finances, but be in shock at how they don't need to handle overlapping KPIs running on 3 concurrent deadlines🥲
If you ask me, the most unrealistic thing about this show is how singular their project flow is. They can get by, even expand operations, without multiple concurrent deals -- in this economy???
I usually steer away from urban C-dramas but this is going to land very high on my 2025 watchlist. Also lol at that "Ceramic Artist Male Lead" tag; never realized how specific MDL tags could be
The main leads are so easy on the eyes but the awkward, earnest and bumbling energy around the Dr and Lin Ling has me more invested so far. Ahh puppy love
At this point South Mountain Hunters are more monks than hunters 😅 their rituals are far more elaborate than…
Looool so true. Whereas in the last 2 decades the fiends established their human identities and overtook a whole pharma supply chain. They've worked so much harder for their own success it almost makes me wanna root for them instead 😂
Wait is the younger sister actually Yan Tuo's younger sister or not? They act like real siblings but he told the FL his sister is still missing..? Feel like I missed a line or two about their backgrounds
Saved up the last few episodes so I could finish it in one shot. There are definite flaws especially with the pacing/editing in the second half, but 7.5 is unwarranted
If you're like me - loves historical dramas for the action, visuals and suspension of disbelief, but gets impatient at romance scenes - this is a solid watch where the plot goes quick, the fight choreo is well done, and we get interesting fleshed-out side characters.
As someone who read the novel in Chinese couple years back, I'd say this is a fair adaptation of key plot points from the book to broadcast TV requirements.
Will probably write a full review once I gather my thoughts
