I had the same feeling watching this one and watching anime series.. great start. But maybe I'm not feeling right…
One of the reasons why I gave up on this drama was because I failled to see any real chemistry between them (that and the lazy-absurd writing - though no one agrees with me, I simply can't understand how can she fall for someone who tried to shot her in the heart and almost had her dad killed). I've read the recaps and I did watch their kisses, but I don't know, I can't see them as as a good match no matter what.. She obviously looks older than him, even though I don't necessary have a problem with that, but idk, perhaps is her role, but from where I stand, she's like an ajumma who finally got into a relationschip with her idol. And the fact that acting wise she's over the top and anime-ish doesn't help much either.
I wouldn't recommend this drama to everyone, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's into melodramas,…
I know and it's a pity, especially since the korean-wave started due to a melodrama (winter sonata). I do enjoy the modern day shows, but I'd never say no to a drama that has that old-warm vibe that made me love kdramas in the first place. Hence, I've been a fan of jdramas and kdramas ever since hana yori dango first aired in japan and needless to say I've watched a lot of their shows, but nowadays it's so rare to actually find a GOOD old-school drama and that's also part of the reason why I'm gratefull for UF.
I wouldn't recommend this drama to everyone, but I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who's into melodramas, because it is one of the best melos out there (and I've seen everything, from stairway to heaven and tree of heaven to nice guy and secret).
UF is melo to a T and I love everything about it, the tone, the plot, the cinematography, the cast, the music, the pace.
Of course, people who don't usually enjoy melos won't enjoy UF much either, because melos, just like sageuks, aren't for everyone, but that's not to say UF is a bad drama, in fact UF is a great MELODRAMA (not a rom-com, not a mystery, not a fantasy story), but a melodrama, nothing less nothing more, so if you're planning to watch it, keep in mind the tag, otherwise you'll get disappointed.
Did this get any better after the first 6 episodes? Because that was trash.
Do you even like kdramas? I checked your list, because I was curious to know what kind of dramas do you enjoy and I couldn't help but notice that most of your ratings are low, the very few exceptions belong mostly to j-dramas. Really, do you?
Only question I have is how come the scene where the father stabbed Kang Chul didn't make it in the comic? It…
I might be wrong, I haven't actually seen the episode, but I've read the recaps and I got the impression that the show already went past that stage without any character rising up that question, so they basically turned a blind eye to the issue (?) Idk, as I said, haven't seen the ep and I'm not familiar with the writer, but strictly based on the recaps, I belive it's just a plot hole...
This drama is just more than great but it's not for everyone! So much emotion!!!!
Agree, nowadays most of the screenwriters are trying so hard to come up with something out of the box, and yet here we have UF, that brings up that warm old emotional vibe that kdramas are so known about. I'm just loving it, dramas like this are the reason why I turned my back on american shows and never to regret it.
Thanks, I thought there are more eps out. Imma stick to The Journey of Flower, since I'm enjoying it quite a lot, giving that wuxias aren't really my cup of tea.
I think Yeon Joo was also the original creator of the hooded killer, so he seems to have will. The "magic"…
That's kind of my theory too, probably the hooded killer was born out of her rational side who wanted to end the fantasy and start living in reality. I see no other reason to why this killer exist and wants KC dead, moreover why KC thinks YJ owns the key to his life.
I've read the recaps for ep 6 (haven't actually seen the ep), so I might be wrong, but why did the killer appeared BEFORE the resurrection of KC? Far as I know, the only purpose for the killer to exist was to have KC killed (correct me if I'm wrong), but at that point in time KC was still floating dead in the water, so the goal was reached, wasn't it? So how did the killer know that KC is about to be saved?
Moreover, that brings up another question: if KC can be resurrected, what's the point of having a killer into the plot to begin with, wouldn't his attempts be in vain or at most just temporary? Too many inconsistencies.
Meh, I wouldn't be surprised to find out that both KC and THE KILLER are OYJ's creations and its up to her to eradicate one or another. Either that, either they are all part of a webtoon.
Seriously? What is the hype about? From what ppl wrote I expected some great plot twists, but there were none.…
I understand where you are coming from, I, too, have yet to see what's so genius about this drama, but up until now there are more questions than answers and chances are that a whole lot of plot holes will be left hanging by the end of episode 16. Hence, there's no way for the writer to find a somehow rational explanation to all this mess, but then again, we're talking about a webtoon, so everything can pass as allowed, regardless of its absurdity. Genius writing? I don't belive so, more like inconsistent and lazy.

Herd instinct, I'd think. Average drama for me as well, no more no less. Even the writing seems lazy, these comments about how genius the writer is make me laugh
I haven't seen ep 6 yet, what happened to her father?
So KC never intended to kill him, otherwise he would have shoot him to the heart, but her dad wouldn't have died anyway, because he used his gun from webtoon, which doesn't have much impact in the real world? Brilliant, Imma watch it tomorrow

Can't they just wait for 2020? : D
