As much as I love some of the writer's previous works, I must say UF could have been done a lot better. That's not to say it's a bad drama, it has some epic iconic scenes, but I was expecting more from LKH, giving that melos are her thing - hence my disappointment. I'm a big fan of tearjerkers and I'd probably never get tired of some of their cliches, but UF felt more like a family drama than a melodrama.
WooBin's character could have been written better, especially if I compare him with so ji sub's character in misa (like really, woobin's character wasn't even half as sympathetic and pitiful), and there were too many unnecessary conflicts. It would have been so much better if the writer focused more on woobin's character, and less on the family part of the story. His character doesn't shine as I was expected to, giving that most of the characters in this drama are more or less troubled. She should of kept the focus on woobin and his angst alone, as in make HIM pitiful, and not everyone else around him too, because it's so much less effective. Let the audience take his side and sympathize with him, make him the star and make this HIS story. Sadly, the writer took the family route, hence why it feels like a family drama more than a melodrama.
Nevertheless, still a good drama, but it could have been so much more. I rated it with 10 just because there are people who rated it with 1, but frankly speaking I belive 8 is a fair enough number.
Adultery and incest were quite common back in the day, so I don't mind them in sageuks, as some people do. I applaud the producers for having the guts to stay true to the facts and I'm looking forward for the story to unfold. I'm a big fan of the chinese version, but hopefully the korean version will do justice to the story too.
I just cannot comprehend how mature people can like this. What some describe as plot twists I view as plot-randomness…
I 100% agree, a mistery to me how can some people call this bs a masterpiece, the so called plot twists are so lame and illogical and the romance is plain chessy
Don't hate me for saying these, but despite loving a happy ending, I'd rather have JY died in the end while settling…
Most likely he won't survive, but I guess the writer could go for a scent of a woman type of ending too, although I'd rather have the sorry i love you tragic ending more. Either way, I highly doubt he will get miraculously cured.
The first episode was a lot better than I thought, I usually avoid tvn's dramas, but cinderella and four knights might actually get me hooked. I'm getting a hana yory dango vibe and I'm loving it.
This drama is freaking brilliant!!! *is a 23 year-old who's been watching kdramas for 5 years and hates when is…
You're 23 and it's your messed up logic that puts you under shame, not me. Sure, it's anyone's right to enjoy whatever bs they like, but there's a difference between enjoying something and calling it brilliant, hence my statements. But I get it, you felt offended by my comment and you probably thought is both imperative and necessary to teach me a lesson and gather a few likes in the process, but heck you should have tried harder. Funny thing is that you could have spared yourself from all that typing, giving that your whole reply basically express the same idea under different *phrases, but meh, you probably thought it would have been less effective that way.
This drama is getting dumber and dumber, I keep coming back to it because people praise it like its a masterpiece, but is average at its best. Freakin' brilliant? Perhaps, if you're under 14 and you still sleep with a baby blanket and a teddy bear named pikachiu.

PS. I really hope the writer will go for a sad ending, and not a bittersweet one.
