lol, I've seen so many dramas with bad endings that I'm kinda immune to them by now, although I do get a little carried away when I happen to fall for a character. I don't expect a happily ever after ending, hence at this point I don't even expect a love confession anymore, but I do, however, hope for some sort of closure. In the worse case scenario, Yan Da's going to sacrifice herself in order to save Shi, which is somehow ok with me, giving that at least I'm going to see some tears from Shi for once, but I do admit that having Shi sacrificing himself for her would be even better : D
Bottom line, at the end of the day, it's not my loss, but the production team loss, as I know that a lot of people were watching this because of YanShi. It's easier for us to move on to another drama, then it is for them to deal with a faillure, hence the ratings. I'm not saying that ice fantasy is a bad drama, on the contrary, is a lot better than most of the c-shows nowadays, but it could have been so much more, it could have been epic. It's a pity that the writer didn't think forward and anticipate the viewers wishes, that's the real disappointment.
Moreover, if the writer wanted to stay true to the book, he shouln't have added Yan Da into the story to begin with - but he managed to create a highly-sympathethic character in order to support a not-so-sympathethic character, who kept giving her a cold shoulder throughout the whole drama. Hence, more or less everyone in drama gave her the cold shoulder, including his brothers.

I'm not too familiar with C-dramas either, I did manage to finish a few while trying a whole bunch, but most of the times I find it difficult to relate to them. I'm not sure if it's the dubbing or the c-style as a whole. For instance I did try to watch some of the most popular c-dramas out there, such as love o2o, boss and me, novaland etc, but I got bored after a few episodes and eventually gave up. Ofc, that's not to say that they aren't worthy, moreover since so many people seem to enjoy them, just that they didn't work for me.
Ice Fantasy, on the other hand, it's like crack to me, I wouldn't have guessed in a million years that a chinese drama can actually get me so hooked, like really, I love everything about it - although truth be told, it isn't flawless, BUT I had 0 expectations when I started watching this, so that's also a factor to keep in mind as to why it hit me so hard. I usually find c-dramas to be pretty childish and their characters pretty one-dimensional and annoying, but ice fantasy does have some pretty deep moments and characters and beyond the fantasy image, some serious themes too. Also, another thing that I find intriguing is the subtle-side of some of the characters, there are times when you can't really figure them out or know for sure what are they actually feeling. The ost is great too and the CGs... well, if I were to compare them to a typical wuxia. it's safe to say that the CGs for ice fantasy are beautiful done.
Of course, if you're not familiar to chinese dramas AT ALL, you won't enjoy this as much as someone who is would, but hence, if you had set your mind on them, you've got to start somewhere. I see you like Moon Lovers, so you can try to give BuBu Jing a go, in some aspects it's even better than the k-version, just that the start is a lot slower.
Can't belive there are only 12 eps left, I'm going to miss this fairy-tale-drama so much. This show is definitely in a league of its own, on the one hand I'm so curious for eveything to unfold, but on the other one I'm sad that the ending is so near...

So far I'm loving it (it hasn't finished airing yet, 20 more eps to go), and that comes from someone who isn't too fond of chinese dramas in general and wuxias in particular.
I did watch a few of the most popular c-dramas out there, Bu Bu Jing, Chinese Paladin 3, Legend of flower, but I don't remember enjoying them as much as I enjoy Ice Fantasy. I don't know, there's something about this drama that's highly addictive to me, hence I even love the CGs.
I started it to fill the time while waiting for the next eps of Scarlet Heart and Moon Lovers and ended up filling the time with SH and ML while waiting for the next eps of IF. I love the story, I love the ost, I love all the characters and I think that regardless of the ending, this is going to be the best ride I've had in a long time. That's not to say that is flawless, just that it happens to work great for me.
My advice is to watch a few more eps, the real story starts after episode 5, iirc.

The main couple is alright, thing is the second couple overshadows them (against all odds, giving that they aren't even a couple :), so some people, including me, tend to be harsher with the leads, although truth be told they are pretty decent too.
Ka Suo does not deserve a brother like Shi T________T

You're somehow right, thing is it was Shi who took his love for his brother too far, he kinda developed an unhealthy obsession for him and there were a few times when he literally pissed me off because of that.
I do love and hate his devotion for his brother, I love it because I always had s soft spot for these types of characters, who aren't afraid to risk everything for the well-being of the loved ones, and I hate it because due to that, he was unable to fully love and open his heart to someone else (and I'm talking here about Yan Da).
I'm hoping that after he loses his memories about his brother, Yan Da will be there to fill the spot and maybe, just maybe by the end of the show he will realize that Yan Da is as important and means as much as Ka Suo means in his heart (that is if he won't replace his "I live only to set my brother free" obssesion with the "I live only to defeat Ice tribe" one)

I don't know if this is true or not, but someone from facebook said that Shi wasn't created biologically, but out of a cherry flower or something along these lines. Again, I have no idea where did he/she came with this idea, but I guess it's too soon to tell.

I kinda agree, I do like Ka Suo's character a lot and I, too, belive he's a great brother to Shi, problem is his love story with Li Luo is kinda boring, hence sometimes his character seems flat.
I'm so glad that Yan Da finally knows that Shi isn't her brother, moreover she and Ka Suo were the only ones who received a message from Shi before he killed himself, which makes me belive he really did care about both of them.
I can't wait for the last part of the story, I belive there must be a reason for Yan Da to say "I'm glad that we aren't brothers", I hope she knows something that we, the audience, don't know yet.
