oh, not a medical drama, please :(

I'm at episode 36 and while I admit it has a good story, I'm not really addicted to it. Thing is all the praising and the hype around this drama got me too excited and the expectations were set (way) too high. It's probably me, but I'd pretty much start a drama with low expectations in order to leave enough room to impress me, than to get into a story which is belived to be flawless and end up being disappointed. The bar was set too high for EL as far as I'm concerned, which is a pity, because I'd have probably enjoyed this a lot more if not for all the praising about how perfect this drama is. It's easier for me to be more forgiving with the flaws of a drama, as long as I do expect a drama with flows, but when all the reviews are talking about how perfect a drama is, I do expect perfection and when I realize that there's no such thing as a perfect drama, I on the contrary tend to notice the flaws more.

But as I said, it is still a good drama, but it's not working for me the way it worked for others. Probably I should of wait for the hype to calm down a bit before getting into it. Just a matter of wrong timing, I guess. Thus far, I would rate it with 8, but I don't want the general rating to go down, giving that so many people loves this drama, so I'm going to first finish it and perhaps it will get better along the way.

Up to ep 36, it's a nice drama, but not really as addictive as I hoped it will be. I like Ye Hua and Bai Qian a lot, but plot wise, their story-line isn't as intriguing as I was expecting it to be, especially giving the 3 lives premise. Dunno exactly what's missing, so let's just say that their plot-line is a bit too softcore for my tastes.

On the other hand, I find Feng Jiu x Dong Hua much more interesting and intriguing and I'm more curious to see their development. I'm more for the mysterious / cold type of characters, who aren't as easy to read. They keep my interest alive by letting me guessing what's on their mind.

wow, I don't think this can beat the k-version, but I can't wait to watch it!

I think you gave up on it too early, watch the first 15 episodes or so and if you still don't like it, than it's not your thing.

I've never liked her much either, good thing she was only a supporting character and not a main.

You can try out Ice Fantasy, I'm up to episode 18 of Eternal Love and while the plot is quite different from Ice Fantasy, I do belive these 2 dramas share quite a few of similarities, both of them are fantasy (and not really wuxia as legend of flower nor historical as sound of the desert). I loved ice fantasy and hence up till now I like eternal love quite a lot too. In ice fantasy there's the fire tribe, while in eternal love there's the ghost tribe. Also the mermaid tribe who appears in both dramas. Romance-wise they are different, but I still belive both dramas are epic and worth watching, altough some people might disagree with me.

Same, I'm all for the inner strugles of the characters, rather than the action. Sadly there aren't many dramas who focus much on this aspect, which is a pity, because I'm sure there are plenty of viewers who would enjoy them.

On the other side, I do and I don't understand hateful comments about slap and kiss lakorns. I do understand them because the younger audience could get a wrong message and that can evolve in a real issue, BUT I don't belive these dramas are targeting the young audience. At the end of the day, even the usual rich guy / poor girl rom-coms can leave a wrongful impression on the viewers, especially on teens, who might actually get to belive that meeting a hot rich guy in real who will irrevocable fall for them isn't really out of the ordinary. Luckily, I know where to draw the line for myself and I can enjoy all kind of topics, as long as they entertain me one way or another :) I don't go as far as to visualise a real rapist and a real scenario, I only see the hot conflicted Ken and the twisted intrigued story they try to deliver to us. I'm not judgmental at all when it comes to television as long as it tries to be at least a bit meaningul :)

I've seen all your recommandations, but I wanted to ask you personally about a similar drama to SB, because I really wanted a similar drama to SB in terms of theme / acting, and not just a good lakorn and reading your comments and feedbacks, I knew I coud trust your suggestions :)

Thanks for the reply, I haven't finished sawan biang yet, but so far it's a great ride and I'm already trying to find something similar to watch after I'm done with it. It is my first lakorn and unlike others, I do enjoy the theme a lot. It was a really nice change from the usual rom-coms, I had to much of them. Though the episode is kinda long, I never got bored :D The acting of everyone is amazing, but as you said, Ken stole the show. I always had a soft spot for conflicted and tormented characters, so I guess you can imagine what a nice surprise it was to come across this drama. I'll make sure to check luk mai klai ton out too, I'm just hoping that I'll find it subbed, considered that it's kinda old and it's a thai drama. Too bad the 1998 version of SB isn't subbed, I'd have loved to watch that too, just so I can compare them.

Edit: it seems that luk mai klai has subs on youtube, so looking forward for that, after I finish SB!
