Thank you everyone for the replies. I've just finished the second ep and I think it does get better. A few more questions though, how is the character development for the FL? How annoying is the love triangle? Any second couple beside the mains?
When you're done with TU, and if you liked the Yi City Arc (Xue Yang/Xiao XingChen), you might give a try to the…
I will make sure to check everything out, thank you a lot for the explainations and recommendations. I haven't read any chinese novels, I did try once to read the novel that ice fantasy is based on (guo jingming is the writer, I dunno if you're familiar with his works), but I gave up when I found out that my favourite character from the drama was made up by the drama screenwriters and she does not exist in the novel at all. I finished TU last night and I did check if there is any other drama based on any of the same writer's novels, but sadly there is none Well, eternal faith, but no one knows anything about release date, so not going to bother for the time being. Also another drama that seems to fit my taste judging only by the plot is immortality, but again, no release date. I love deep stories, with tormented anti heroes, I am not much into cute stories anymore, probably because with getting older I can't relate with that stuff anymore. I am going to try out WoH, I only hope there is not going to be a lot of episodic repetitive quests in it cause that's the reason why i put xianxia genre on hold for a few years now, until TU came in the picture.
About Ji Sung, idk if you watched kill me, heal me, but if not, you should, he was great în that drama too.
I wanted to get back to you because I realized after your second post below that your previous question was zbout…
I do get what you mean and now that you mention it, you are right about TU not falling under the typical xianxia genre. Like I said, I am a newbie to this, a few days ago I wasn't even able to differ wuxia to xianxia, but I do feel like there is a different vibe between dramas like TU, Ice Fantasy (which lead more towards fantasy) and dramas like chinese paladin, swordman, who are like the classical xianxia, regardless of their quality. It's the flow of the story, I think, xianxia, to me at least, seems more like the tyical hero who has to go through different episodic and boring repetitive quests to finally complete a big mission and that's where they lose me. Yea, TU is something else for sure, it's much more complex and deep, especially eps 10-33 were brilliant, perfect in every way shape and form.

I do agree with everything you said about chinese productions, let me correct myself, I know I said chinese dramas as a whole, but what I meant was more the xianxia and the rom coms type (years ago I tried to watch hana kimi, because I loved the japanese version, but I found it terrible. Also chinese paladin 3 (mostly for the second couple and the ost) swordsman (a pain to finnish) and probably a few more which I don't recall atm. I know these are mostly old school dramas, but back in the day they were quite popular. The only other fantasy / xianxia that made an impact on me beside TU is ice fantasy, but that's only because of the second leads, I couldn't care less about the mains. On the other hand their palace dramas are amazing, bubu jing is still one of my favs to this day. I did check winter begonia and it does seem like my cup of tea, the only reason why I am going to put it on hold for the time being is because I think it's a bad timing to watch it after TU, I will probably wouldn't enjoy it to it's fullest because my mind atm is still set on the xianxia genre. I keep browsing MDL for something similar, but nothing really clicks with me. I love the anti-hero type, WOH seems alright, but I don't know if it has enough angst for my taste, lol. I don't really enjoy cute stories anymore, with black and white charcters, I want something more complicated, with a lot of angst and stuff.
the yi city arc was supposed to be a whole novel itself hahaha i agree, i love that part too
Oh wow, I didn't know that. Tbh I know nothing about chinese novels and stuff, hence I don't even know much about chinese xianxia and all the cultivation part, but for whatever reason I found TU easy to follow. The yi City arc blow me away, I really wasn't expected that.
Up until ep 38 I gave this drama a 9,5 score, because I though the best part was up till ep 33, but after watching the xue yang / xiao xingchen arc (which btw their plot line alone deserve a whole drama) I changed it to 10. This show is briliant, I can't belive it's chinese, no pun intended.
Well, I haven't finished either yet (I suck at finishing things in a timely manner, and watch many things simultaneously),…
I still have a few more eps of Tu to go, but I like to plan ahead my next watch. I was never able to watch more shows simultaneously, dunno why, but I am not the type who ff either. If I find a drama who pulls me in (although lately I feel like there's not much to cboose from, especially în kdramas world), I want to enjoy it to the fullest. Tu came as a big surprinse for me, tbh I didn't know chinese dramas are capable of such level of quality, I mean i did watch a few cdramas before, but the angst, the acting, the layered characters, the camera work, the music, the twists and everything was a big surprinse for me, I don't want to sound harsh or anything, but yea, TU is the drama that made me belive în cdramas. I will try Woh after, like you said, it seems the closest to what I am looking for atm.
Can someone tell me if Word of honor is similar to this, quality wise? I am about to finish Tu and I need something as good as this for my next watch, so if anyone has any recommendation...
This drama is amazing, I can't even belive how much I enjoy the story and how much I care for the characters...and this is coming from someone who is not really into cdramas, especially bl and xianxia. I can't belive it, I swear, definitely a must see.
Hello guys!
Is this sequel as good as season 1?
How is the ending? (Is it even finished yet?)
hahaha, np :D It might take awhile for it to be fully subbed though, since viki and DF have no license for it yet, but better late than never. I know no chinese or vietnamese, so I really have no options but to wait and hope that the person who subbed the first 5 episodes will sub the rest too, though I'm sure it's a huge effort for a single person. Also, there were some rumours about a third season / movie, dunno how valid there are, but I wouldn't mind that at all xD A spin-off centered on YanDa x Shi relationship would be a dream come true for me :D

Hey!
It's hard to tell, since only the first 5 episodes are subbed, but I don't think it's as catchy as the first season, giving that the main season had a much bigger budget! Also, Victoria is replaced by another actress, but I think she has an appearance in the last episode. The ending is ok from what I've read, kinda better than the main season's ending! I don't really have more infos on it yet, since I wanna wait for all the episodes to be subbed so I can marathon the whole thing at once, but based on the reviews, it's worth a watch for sure! If for no other reason than watching Shi confess to YanDa! :D
I am really excited for this drama, I haven't watched a j-drama in years, but giving that it's a remake of one of my favorite dramas of all time, I can't miss it! Like really, I'm counting down the days! Sure, I doubt it can beat the original (but no drama could, the k-version is pure perfection, from the acting to the ost), but I'm hopeful that it will give it some sort of justice!!! Sorry I love you is the best melodrama ever and the drama I compare ALL the melodramas I watch to, so I can't wait to see the japanese take on it. I don't think I'll ever be able to move on from this story and adaptation, just talking about it makes me wanna rewatch it again, it never gets old for me! :D
It's been a long time since I last watched such a good sageuk, highly recommended for anyone who enjoy the hero type of dramas. Rebel is defintely up there alongside with iljimae, bridal mask, six flying dragons etc. Really good writer, king's daughter is also worth watching.
I'm on episode 5 and I enjoy this drama quite a lot thus far, I haven't watched six flying dragons, but I find the main lead really suitable for the role. Also I'm a big fan of Iljimae and I wonder if this show follows the same route, as in will his father die and he's going to become the hero who's going to seek revenge? I've watched hong gil dong too, but for some reason I didn't enjoy it as much (in fact it was a real torture to finish it), so I'm really hoping that this is more similar to Iljimae.
Also, I'm a fan of kin ji suk since chuno, I know he's supposed to be the bad guy, but is there any chance for him to be more on the gray side, rather than a villain who's all dark? How about jang nok soo? Will she develop some feelings for him, since I know she's all set up to become his wife? I don't mind spoilers...
