Also, about the beach scene, in the novel they had lots of "underwater kisses" before turning herself into a girl, so it is not like XL tried to do something out of the ordinary, the reason why she refused him at that time was because she was afraid, thus basically confessed herself to him that he is the type to enter her dreams and that is something she is most scared of, because XL would never put her first. I had never interpreted that scene as XL confessing or admiting his feelings for her, I could have seen it as a declaration on his part only if they haven't shared any underwater kisses before, but that îs not the case.

42 or 45, not much of a difference, honestly. I was more curious what you make of her wanting to wait (for 40+ years) before setting a wedding day. Does it make sense to you? As far as I remember, Jing was willing to set a date from the get go.

If we are talking about the novel, than let's be honest, XL and XY are way more intimate than what we see în the drama. I don't remember if they kissed 400 times during their 37 years underwater, but I do remember they were very intimate.

Maybe I am wrong, but I thought YangZi herself said that XY didn't have any other option, I mean it is fair to say that Jing was the only one who actually made any promises to her.

Yes, the mom-child bugs were mentioned în the book as a reference for all the types of Voodoo bugs that exist, but I don't remember the exact context.
Edit: XY did say în the beginning that she raised the bug for XL with the intention to control him.

I might be wrong, but I think what windiaaa is saying is that the bug XY raised was the mother-child one, the one used by mothers to control their children, but the moment she planted the bug into XL, the bug transformed itself into the legendary love bug, hence why the nut dissapeared.

Not that she didn't love him, more like they belive, I think, it was a different kind of love and not really a romantic one. Which again, IMO, everything about XL and XY relationship was definetely romantic. From the bugs, as you said, to the crystal ball she sent him, the mermaid and merman parallel, their deep allusive talks, the way she felt when he was sucking her blood from her neck, the visually romantic surroundings (the moon, the sea) and everything else în between, their whole dynamic basically. For me all of this does scream romantic love, but still the most important part IMO is the scene from chapter 32, where I honestly belive it gathers the author's answer to this question.

Depends on whom you ask. IMO her lightcore romantic scenes with Jing fades compared to the subtle passion / tension she shares with XL, but regarding CX, yes, he is definetely just a brother figure to her.
