I have to disagree again. The way I see it, XY did take the first step with XL and the crystal ball stands as a testimony. In her relationschip with jing/shiqi she was always waiting for him to do all the work.

Honestly, no matter how much I try, your interpretation holds no water and it seems to me that you're overanalyzing things just to fit your chosen scenario. There are so many assumptions in your post, but none you can know for sure. You are just overcomplicating things, IMO.

She was struggling because she wasn't too willing to marry jing either, and that's pretty obvious from her delay of setting a wedding date to him for 43 years. Marrying shiqi was as impossible, yet she had no struggle with that question.

Lol, she was obviously waiting outside dragon bone prison for XL, because she regretted the decision she took a while back , when XL came to save her on that same location, but WXL decided to go with Jing and CX instead. As Jing said it, back then he took advantage of her kindness and trapped her with his 15 years promise inside the dragon bone prison, and even though now he wanted to give XY back the right to chose, there is obviously no turning back for XL, regardless of her waiting outside the prison for him in that red gown.

How could she have said the vows to a man who didn't accept her and purposely burned all the bridges between them? I don't understand this logic.

She couldn't even control herself in front of Jing. IIRC, even Miao Pu got frightened by her wild screams.

Why was she angry at him? I haven't watched today's episodes and I don't remember XY being harsh towards XL out of nowhere in the novel.

The drama made it clear that the only one who matters to Jing is XY. The kid still being able to reach Jing if he needs advice on Tushan's affairs goes agains XY, who wants someone fully commited to herself, so not going to happen. These are just suppositions to make jing look less selfish.

Yes, exactly. He was also the one who was willing to die when XY died, same as CX's mom did when his dad died, thus causing his trauma.

Yes, I always thought the grandfather was the only one who knew everything that went behind close doors. He knew about both CX's love for XY, but also about XY's love for XL.

The scene with Jing's kid really bothered me. Maybe he went looking for him with good intentions, but in the end it felt as if he only cared about taking his blood in order to prove that he's not his. Poor kid, he was so happy when he saw him and called him dad, to think jing is going to abandon him for a woman really makes me angry. I know, he said so himself, he is very selfish and to him only XY matters, but still it doesn't make it alright. He might not be his real dad, but he's the only father that that kid knows of. I still don't understand the message Tong Hua tried to send with this outcome, especially since XY's trauma came from being an abandoned child herself.

IMO the drama made it look as if the main cause for her depression is Jing, which I agree that it's not faithful to the novel. To be fair though, XY's grandfather did note that the reason why XY is depressed is because she lost her purpose, now that CX got the throne and Jing gotten married.

I understand your view, but I just don't feel it that way. Too many suppositions, IMO and some things are too far fetched to be believe ble. I never had the feeling XY kept Jing hidden, so many people knew about their relationship. There is even that scene that wasn't played în the drama, where XY tried to kiss him underwater, but Jing told her that he's not the one în her eyes. Compare this to the scene where XL put his hand over her eyes, because he could clearly see himself reflected into.
I agree that Jing and Shiqi were 2 different people, but that's the thing, between them two, XY wanted Shiqi more. It makes no sense for her to be able to say out loud that she is willing to marry Shiqi, but not being able to answer the last question, unless the answer it's different - XL. She felt no pain when XL asked her about Jing or Shiqi. If the leaked script îs legit, they even have their bugs glowing at unison during that part.
Seems to me we hve such a different interpretation for so many of these scenes.

As I said, IMO XY was looking for a companion in Jing and not actually a husband, that is why she was willing to delay the actual wedding. It was always Jing who mentioned getting married, never XY. Yes, her heart surged with swetness, but that's not much compared to how her relationship with FFB was described, the crystal ball she sent to XL, the pain she felt when she heard about his death, the fact that she wanted to spend her remaining life on one of the islands that XL told her about.
To believe XY postponed her marriage to Jing because she wanted to finish her medical project, as if these things can't go togheter, is like beliving CX was willing to delay his main goal in life, becoming an emperor, because he wanted to prioritize his wine making first. To me it makes little sense, honestly.
