I honestly believe Tong Hua didn't like Jing much and beside using him as a plot device, she also used him as an exemple of DON'TS. That interview with her speaking about those 2 women, one who took her own life because the man she loved died, leaving her kids out in the air and the other one who, faced with a similar situation of losing the man she loved, decided to keep on living and raise the first's woman kids. She build Jing very similar to that first woman, a man who doesn't care about abandoning his nephew and who's fast to give up on life when losing the one he loved.
