I'm enjoying the show, but episodes 13 & 14 were very boring to me. The ML's spirit arc and FL's sniffing…
The first two episodes started off weak, then it gradually got better—improving with each episode—until it peaked at episode 8, and from there it quickly went downhill. The woman’s fantasy world has no appeal at all. They’ve become a boring couple. None of the side characters are engaging.
The strategic mind games in the battle scenes, combined with the male lead and the mystery of Han’s past, along with the light mystical touch of the fantasy elements, had made the series feel different and enjoyable—but now they’ve shifted into a very cliché fantasy world, and the most boring kind at that.
As for the male lead—a gray, charismatic genius with an assassin past—they’ve turned him into a constantly grinning, foolish lover. Like a little puppy wagging its tail after its owner. And there’s nothing exciting about that.
The battle scenes were good, but as the fantasy elements increased, the series started to become overly boring—and it’s been like that since halfway through. The only character I felt connected to was the male lead. But once he devoted himself to the “fantasy leader” and gave up his own goal, he lost all his appeal. What happened to the male lead who was seeking redemption and had a clear purpose? Also, once the mystery about his past disappeared, so did any sense of curiosity.
Now, just like in many fantasy series, we’re probably going to watch the leader ( Dilraba ) struggle against her foolish enemies. The second male lead will also go mad when his love for the female lead is not returned. The spirit realm will also fall into danger. Then there will be all sorts of sacrifices to protect that “tree of life,” and so on and so forth.
Same. Very special place in my heart. I sometimes slow the video down or even go frame by frame to see details…
I can't get enough of watching it. Even the supporting cast and minor characters were great, not just the main couple and the villains. I rewatched it again a few months ago. Both lead roles were my favorite roles in this series. I also miss Zhang Wan Yi so much. I can't wait to see him again in a historical drama with such a solid role and another amazing partner.
