THIS PARTICULAR SCENE IN EPS 6 PART 4/4 8:20 - 11:17 is so beautifully crafted, I'm totally blown away. The way the scene played out, the silence of the phone call, Fadel's change of expression, THE SONG (Bitter Heart by Memi, the lyrics are sooo fitting), the confession, the way they kiss as the song play in the background, and that LAST CLOSE UP SHOT with Fadel tears falling as he hugs Style is just 🤯🤯🤯
Guys, this is actually looking really, really, really promising. Here's why:
1. For years, I've been wanting OffGun to get off the university students plots, and do a more mature, serious plot. Because I know they're capable, it suits them and will look so damn good.
2. The story is written by Jittirain, and it doesn't look too crazy and out of touch, which is what I like the most from her Theory of Love. A simple, relatable, genuinely written, compelling story.
3. Of course, the one and only, Nuchy and her unique style in film direction. The soundtracks, the camera work, her work in Not Me is more than just artistic, it's ALIVE.
The thing is, I love Theory of Love for the story, not the direction. I love Not Me for the direction, not the story. And in this one, we get the best of both worlds. I'm beyond excited, my expectation is sky high to the point that I'm scared of disappointment. 😭
A hopeless romantic guy for Khaotung, and a slutty guy for Dunk, I AM loving this. I love how different the characters are from their previous series. I really really like this Bison guy, and I think Khaotung portrays it well. When I watched Only Friends, I thought Sand and Ray are basically a grown up version of Akk and Ayan, so it's great to see them in a different dynamic this time.
The more I watch Jane and Ryan scenes, the more I loveee the crews behind this project. I really love the direction. It's not heavily edited, the scenes are lowkey and a lil bit raw (my exact taste in film direction style).
Also, it's very well-written too, because I also started as an intern (also in creative industry) and I grow close to my mentor at work as well. And now I'm 27, still in the same industry, and I understand Jane so much, how we kinda "forget" our dream because we thought this is how far life can take us, but deep inside, our little spark of passion knows we still want it. I teared up so much whenever they're talking about their career. How Ryan is so passionate and hopeful about his future, and Jane contemplating his career now. I can relate so much to both Jane and Ryan because I've been there and felt exactly like that. 😭
And again, I'm so frustrated at the fact that this project didn't get to explore more deeply into this direction and writing because the concept of this show is focusing on multiple characters at once. IMAGINE the quality of Jane and Ryan's story but make it longer, deeper, more realistic, more emotional, more relatable. I swear GMMTV needs to hire them again for another OffGun project. I'm NOT SATISFIED.
Jane and Ryan reminds me A LOT of Pick and Rome. Their personalities are so similar that it's almost nostalgic to see them "again".
First things first, Jane is very strict & mean, but also very tsundere. Showed from the way he passive aggressively calls Ryan's name all day during shooting because he's jealous. His behavior reminds me so much of Pick. Both of them are very irritable when it comes to feelings, but they're too shy to admit it. Except that maybe Pick is more childish, Jane is more mature and communicates better since he's older.
And Ryan, is very BOLD in expressing his feelings, the confession, the way he bravely calls out Jane for "bullying" him even if he's a senior, like the way Rome also isn't hesitant to talk comfortably to the more senior Pick as well. Even his cheekiness reminds me a lot of Rome, the way he almost texts Jane things like "are you jealouss".
And that one scene when Jane gave Ryan the shoes, Ryan said "He's just a friend. I'm just saying this, in case that's what makes you mad at me all day." Like, Jane didn't even say anything and Ryan can read him just like that, and then teasingly say it to his face. Then, Jane's reaction is like a cherry on top, "Don't get ahead of yourself" then walks away shyly.
Man, with this good quality of writing and direction, it was such a shame that The Trainee is more of a "multiple stories and characters, sitcom-ish" style rather than the usual "main-couple-centered" style. I wish they just did this "sitcom" style for Cooking Crush, and do the normal style for The Trainee. It's the other way arounddd, I'm so frustrated because it's SO rare to see this level of quality lately from gmmtv. I want to see more from this crew in the future. More narrative, more exploration in storytelling, more complexities. 😭
After watching Call Me by Your Name, I Told Sunset About You, Your Name Engraved Herein and the trailer of this movie, I think I know my weaknesses now: gays and pretty nature 🤣
So, basically Puppy honey: light, fluff Theory of love: drama, angst, hurt Not me: dark, serious, action Cooking crush: comedy, wholesome, cute The Trainee: (as Off mentioned) realistic
If it works well, I think The Trainee might be my favorite🤞 I love it when a film/series is from a realistic, slice-of-life approach.
I think TenPrem is gonna take the first place in the most non-toxic OffGun couples ranking. Their relationship is so healthy, wholesome, and mature. I sometimes can't believe that they are in the same age group as Third, Khai, Pick, Sean and the others. They're soo mature and communicate really well.
This turns out to be way more wholesome than I expected from watching the first episode. I'm so happy it's becoming better and better.
It's also very nice to see Off and Gun's characters actually fell in love with each other in a total romantic setting.
With Khai and Third, Third was already in love with Khai, so we don't get to see that. With Sean and White, it's more of a tension turns sexual turns love, and the plot doesn't really focus on romance. With Pick and Rome, it's not deep enough because they're side characters. But this one, it's a LITERAL "cooking crush". They really went 100% towards that direction. ❤
I love the fact that this series is probably not a BL, because most BL that we saw to this day are heavily influenced by the origin japanese yaoi manga, where mostly are about dreamy handsome guys and their romantic, pretty, love stories. Whereas in real life, unfortunately, it isn't like that for the people in LGBTQ+ community. And I love that this series show how it actually looks like in reality, both the ugly and the beautiful sides.
My goodness Ray speaks so clearly and so well phrased when he's sober like this. He states what he wants, what he doesn't like, only take the matters that are necessary and still part of his business and responsibility into his hand. I didn't know I can love him more than I already am.

is it just me, or during the scene where Ten is stitching Prem's glove, they use the same bgm from Theory of Love??
It took me back for a second there 😭😭😭
