Honestly, if this series and check out were released in 2019, I think they will still be considered okay, or even good? I mean, even tharntype was a big success.
Unfortunately, since 2020-2021, loads of talented filmmakers out there began to step into the BL industry and showed these BL creators who's boss. BL standard has never been the same since then 😎
At this point, I'm already looking forward to see bible build in their own series in the future, with better script writing, maybe a more casual theme but with more realistic, deep, and emotional direction, because damn, these two definitely understood the assignment.
I think we haven't discuss Pete's "eating noodle in the main family's house" scene enough!! Because he literally was just eating noodle but that scene feels very powerful and emotional?? The way he's sniffing his palm and wrist, desperately seeking for the remnants of Vegas. Like, wow, looking forward to his future projects.
But anyway, I'm not really fond of how they wrote vegas pete meeting in the club tho, idk, I like the novel version more
[Novel spoiler 🚨] The one where Vegas tried to see him again after he escaped, but as Vegas arrived in the main family's house, he saw pete from afar, pete was genuinely happy, joking around with his friends, Vegas didn't want to ruin it, so he decided not to see him again.
I think we're already way beyond the era of "hot guys, steamy romance" kind of BL.
We live in the era where masterpieces like I told sunset about you, tales of thousand stars, and not me, exist. Where story matters, actual romance matters, filmmaking skill matters. Just hot guys and steamy scenes are no longer cutting it, at least for me. This isn't 2017.
"How are they gonna tell the story of vegas pete in 4 eps?"
So I kinda skimmed through the whole vegas pete chapters in the novel (cuz everyone in twt was like "we're gonna be so robbed, vegas pete original story is much more beautiful" and I got curious 😂) and I think they're just gonna cover: [Novel spoiler warning]
- the whole arc where pete was kept in vegas room (but they're gonna cut some scenes and make it shorter, obviously) until vegas fell for him and let him go back to main family - the climatic part, where pete met vegas again during the two family fight - the ending part where pete left his job and the main family to go chase after vegas
I think they're not gonna include the part where vegas got into accident, the whole hospital arc, the part with baby Venice and them going to meet Pete's grand parents.
How does the cinematography just keep getting more and more beautiful each episode?? I checked on who did the cinematography, and turns out it's the same person working on ITSAY, no wonder, they're so talented ðŸ˜
Me: *lowkey enjoying the Vegas Porsche motorbike riding scene where they both look like they're having the best…
please spare our lives 😠we just got sidetracked for a bit 👀 I'm blaming the beautiful cinematography, the night wind flowing through vegas's hair, and porsche's genuinely happy smile that i haven't seen in a while
Me: *lowkey enjoying the Vegas Porsche motorbike riding scene where they both look like they're having the best time of their lives, then sense an overwhelming tension as they stare into each other...
The fandom: if you like vegas porsche go burn in hell
Me: forgive me for I've strayed from the right path, I've lost my way, please let me back in
wow just realized the rating is rlly harsh in here 😅 honestly, I don't have any positive or negative feelings towards this series yet (it's still on eps 2, so not yet), but I have to admit that the direction and screenplay style is completely different from what I thought it would be, not in a bad or good way tho, just different style.
From the trailer, I thought the direction will be like one of those artsy, heavy, raw, "film-festival-material" kind of film, but it turns out to be a light and easy-to-watch style, despite the mafia theme and premise. But so far, still interesting and enjoyable tho.
Can you list your top 3 fav bl's? I am trying to find a show I have not watched while waiting for episode 2
I love artsy, in-depth films, so... [Series] 1. I told sunset about you (and the sequel): this one is a MUST if you haven't alr watched it 2. Not me
[Movie] 1. Your name engraved herein 2. Moneyboys
[Bonus] Stranger by the shore it's an anime film tho, but the storytelling style doesn't seem like typical anime, less comical, less exaggeration, more realistic approach, and the art is out of this world
Going to miss this show. Does anyone where I can read the book
I don't think there's a "book" for Not Me, because I heard that the story was based on a fanfiction and the director and screenwriters also changed some of the plots, so it's kinda like a "semi-original" screenplay
The fact that this series was supposed to be 16 eps, but they have to cut it down because of budgeting issues, and many other issues surrounding the making of this series, AND IT'S STILL THIS GOOD?!
Have u ever wish u could go to alternate universe, where they can give P'Nuchy any unlimited resources that she wants, and watch Not Me in its best version?
but anyway can we at least have a special episode like TOL? please? i'm getting desperate here...
HOW can I move on from this :( I haven’t felt this way for a long time since ITSAY in 2020 (and it took me months to move on) I don't want this series to just end and slip away as just another good gmmtv series and people will then move on to the next hit series, because it is MUCH MUCH MORE than just a good bl.
We can all tell that this one is DIFFERENT, not because of the unusual theme and concept, but the quality. It's obvious that this series is crafted by a talented director & screenwriter and all the supporting production team.
There’s no cringy screenplay, no unnatural turn of events, consistently written characters, and a solid story foundation. The people behind this definitely have TASTE in filmmaking.
Y'all are seriously giving me a heart attack here by saying OffGun confirmed their relationship ðŸ˜
But anyway, by far this is the most serious interview I've seen them answering things about their relationship https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twXCf5-5eEM since usually, they will answer jokingly as if they're dating
Also, there was this radio interview where Off was asked what is his real life relationship with Gun, and he said he doesn't know what everyone's thinking of them, but we should see for ourselves through what they do, it should already give us the answer.
I feel like his answer didn't really confirm anything, but it's much more valuable to know that whatever they're doing with each other is genuine and not just for "entertainment purpose", compared to knowing if they're actually dating or not.
I see people asking who fell first: Sean or white. To me, i can't really say but I feel there was attraction from…
Omg the timing is so perfect, I literally just did a quick rewatch through the whole series just to see and analyze their feelings development, and yesss I definitely agree that White fell first. It's so obvious, he's the one that started to tease sean playfully (snatching his drink, flicking his forehead, etc). He must be having butterflies when sean came to his place, saw his pale face, then reach out for his forehead to check his temperature 🤣
A lot of people ship BlackTodd, and I really want to, but I can't see it 😠Todd literally almost killed Black three times, I just can't see them together
However, I do agree that their character dynamics and relationship are VERY interesting, I can say I ship "past Black Todd when they were best buddies" Would love to see some more of their flashbacks 🤣
Eps 13 was ON FIRE! I was scared asf during the entire episode, scared for everyone's safety, scared of what was going on, scared of what's gonna happen next. You won't normally expect to experience all of this from watching a romance drama BL series. Damn, what a great show, seriously.

We need Black's own story!

Yes, everyone's left with emptiness now, thanks a lot :')
