I'm glad that all this mess is gonna be over soon but... a part of me still want more of the hot teas and gay dramas,
and of course, the most aesthetic couple, Sandray and their smokes and cigarettes and liquor and red faces and teary eyes under the neon lights π
Gonna miss all their beautiful shots, and the way their scenes always SPEAK in visual language. It's so rare to see this level of storytelling in BL, I haven't seen something like this since ITSAY.
kinda agree, Nepo babies were always present in gmmtv... all these hate is kinds BS since they are not even worst…
Ohmygod that actually made a lot of sense π that's why it felt so weird, why are they filming the new series so early, and why do off and gun rarely post or talk about cc, it's like, they're not even excited about it. That series might be worse than I thought ππ
Every week I come here and say something about the episode, mostly Sand Ray, mostly compliments on either the writing or Jojo's direction, or FirstKhao's acting.
But this week, I have to give a round of applause for the conversation Mew and Top had on Mew's bed.
What a simple, solid, clean execution by the whole crew and cast πππ It's emotional, but not too much, not too intense, just raw, realistic, right amount of sincere dialogues and honest feelings.
Damnit why can't they write like this for all gmmtv series?! Whyyy??
Lol I saw arguments about them being "nepobabies". Here's my thought:
Honestly speaking, when I saw their trailer came out during the livestream, that's EXACTLY the first thing that came to my mind. "Nepobabies, definitely", I thought. I donβt even know about the alpha project whatsoever. All I know is that GMMTV would usually give you support roles in some BLs before you got your main roles.
BUT then again, Nepobabies are EVERYWHERE, especially in entertainment industry. There's so many celebrities, singers, kpop idols, that come from rich family. OF COURSE they used their parents connection to get into this ruthless industry. And that's okay. Because you know what? This industry is unforgiving. If you don't have enough talent to keep up, you're gonna sink down anyway. Only the good, talented ones will be on top.
So I don't care where they come from, with rich parents help or not, as long as they bring something to the table, they're good to go. People are not that dumb, we can tell which one is real talent, and which one is just lucky. We have taste. (Well, some people don't though, all they see is handsome faces, but yeah what I meant is talent will always outshine everything. There's no way people overlook great artists like Nanon, Gun, First, Khaotung, PP, Billkin, etc). Let's just see what they got. βοΈ
So Off said that Not Me was like badass and serious, Cooking Crush is more cute and funny, but The Trainee is more realistic...
and I was like YESSSS I'm a sucker for realistic writing, pls pls pls make this one really good, raw, emotional, showcase their acting to the fullest potential, focus on the screenwriting quality, and of course ITSAY level cinematography π€π€π€
The one million dollar scene, Ray confronting Sand.
I've NEVER seen such performance in a BL before. I had to do a standing ovation right after seeing that. First and Khao deserve hundreds of awards for that. Never seen them in such extremely emotional act before. WOW. πππ
Do you know what I love about the writing of this series?
That scene with Sand Ray sitting in the stream talking about their true feelings, Ray said he liked Sand, but Mew is very important to him, and then Sand said:
"It's up to you. I won't put pressure on you. But if I find someone with no conditions, I'm ready to go. I will not wait for you."
And then he got up and started walking down the stream, Ray followed behind, but he struggled so he's a bit slow, so Sand stopped and WAITED for him.
THAT. That's brilliant writing. I swear gmmtv should keep this quality of writing for all their series.
There's one thing that still confuses me. If Nick doesn't want Boston to hate him, why did he tell Mew about that guy that filmed him? I don't understand his action at all π΅βπ«
That freddie mercury scene is the most satisfying shit I've seen so far.
First, that yellow jacket freddie guy is cute. Second, when Ray said he wanna sleep with Sand, and Mr. Freddie could join too, he's such an ass but it's funny and hot at the same time π€£ Third, when Sand said to Ray's face, I'm not your second option and then push him, I was like BITCH YES TELL HIM. First's delivery of that line is just... *chef's kiss*
Why do I heard rumors that Boeing is Mix? What did I miss? And is Boeing the ex bf that Top snatched away from Sand? If yes, then it's funny how history repeats itself π
I can't believe some of y'all can still defend the boys. At this point, I only side with the girls. π€£
Boston, no explanation needed. Top, a cheating, lying ass. Ray, always drunk, always high, either in trouble or causing it. Nick, crazy enough to do borderline illegal stuff. Sand, he's the better one of them all, but he'd go extra mile for revenge. Even if it's morally ambiguous. Mew, he hasn't done anything, but I'm sure he will.
Wow Sand's character really surprised me in this episode. Didn't expect him to be that crazy as well. This eps really made me think to myself, "do NOT mess with the gays, do not have any beef with them" π
Also, that "what are we to each other" scene hurts as hell, but LOOK at that acting dammmnnnn Khaotung's performance in that exact moment... I feel like I should've paid to see that.
Watching firstkhao's scenes makes me think of my biggest wish ever as a BL watcher for years.
FirstKhao series. And not just any other gmmtv basic series, but a really, really good one. By "good", I mean a seriously ambitious project, like "get a good writer, a good cinematographer, and the goddamn best director we've ever known" kind of project.
Like, have u ever imagine one day, someone in gmmtv woke up and be like, "you know what, we're literally the front runner of Thai BL industry right now, what if we create this super artistic, high quality series on the same level as ITSAY? That would be bomb"
I mean, it doesn't have to be free on Youtube, if it's too expensive to make. I'll even pay to watch it, not gonna lie. I just want to see gmmtv be less commercial, and actually bring out their biggest guns. They've been in this industry for too long and too rich to keep making typical mass produced BLs. Time to step up their game, make some art, produce a "premium" line of BLs.
(Seeing how well-executed SandRay's scenes in this series, is actually why I think gmmtv is capable of much more than what they're producing.)
Man, every time it's SandRay's scene, it's like someone else wrote and directed the scenes. Why are their scenes so different from others? It's way more well-written, natural, and well acted too.
I don't know why, it's just, the aesthetics are different. The writing is so raw and genuine. The actions, the flirting, the sexual tensions are so original, unlike the typical romantic story build up.
Sand, namchueam and her gf should stay away from all these people, they're all walking red flags. π€£ I thought Nick was okay but he's crazy enough to wiretap people's car. I thought Ray was fine too but as we progress, he's almost never sober, and in the little time he is, he's playing around with people due to his loneliness. Mew... he looks fine so far, but idk, he's a bit sus somehow. Top and Boston, no explanation needed. Damn it's so messy I love it.

Damn I haven't checked their previous works but I know they're working on offgun's next series. Guess i have to lower my expectation then π
Damn, now that the boy's sober, his brain functions and communicates way better than everyone else in this show π€£
The real Ray is here y'all.

The music, the lighting, the color, the angle, the face, the expression. PERFECTION. I wanna frame it and hang it on my wall. It's fucking beautiful.
If yes, then it's funny how history repeats itself π
