Yes to what you said. Regarding intent - Jean still suffered major negative consequences due to Alex's actions, yet Alex had zero consequences for 10 years and in the present his only negative consequence is feeling bad about it. I'm not saying Alex should go to jail for his whole life or be on the sex offender registry forever but the lack of consequences then and in the present is gross.

I'm debating dropping it, I do want to write a thorough review so I think I'll watch the 2nd half of the series. Yeah even if he goes back in time and changes it, the Alex/Jean endgame would leave a bad taste in my mouth.

We'll see how much pushback I get. The fact that people don't all see it as rape shows how badly the writers messed this up. Me thinking that survivors might see this and it reinforces the incorrect idea that it was their fault makes me sick to my stomach.
Let's call a spade a spade. I'm going to talk about episode 6, I'm marking it as a spoiler and it has a potentially…
Alex raped Jean. Jean being drunk, Alex being drunk and drugged does not change the fact that Alex raped Jean. She said no multiple times (consent can be revoked at any point). She was trying to push him off of her. She was not okay during it or afterwards.
I'm disappointed at how they handled it in the present. Alex continued to ignore Jean's boundaries and went to see/talk to her. It was good that he started by saying that it was his fault and was apologizing. Later she says that because she was drunk she was at fault too. Alex does say again that "it was my fault and not yours" but she said other things and I think it lost some of its effectiveness because he didn't counter her statement directly afterwards.
It. was. not. her. fault. It doesn't matter if a person wears a short skirt/tight clothes, or is drunk or walked alone at night. It. is. not. their. fault if they were sexually assaulted. I don't think the writing got this across enough.
Also because Alex had that conversation with his friend about Jean forgiving Alex is likely the key to him orgasming again, it felt like he was maybe doing it in order to solve his problem and not from a genuine place of being sorry (I do think he was actually sorry though). I just wish they hadn't put that conversation right before Alex went to see Jean.
Most likely Alex will go back in time and not rape Jean, so I guess we should all feel happy then, but I personally feel that this whole situation was not written well/mishandled and I'm disappointed.

Your "content warnings" are ridiculous and amusing. What is the "KICK" you are warning kick-phobic people from…
He kicked him off the bed, I realize it might not bother you, but people who have been in abusive relationships (as I have) might be bothered by things like shoves, kicks, slaps, etc and so I list them.

This is based on a book so maybe the writers felt bound to how that played out (I didn't read the book). I think it's that fantasy romance idea of another person just can't live without you. The reader/watcher is supposed to find Lian's insistence on marriage romantic. Yes, the second couple's dynamic was even more controlling.
"do not feel like they've been in romantic relationships for a year, they feel like middle schoolers who just…
In addition to supposedly dating for over a year, don't Kuea and Lian know each other from like...birth??? Weren't they going on weekly dates for a long time??? Their lack of communication drives me nuts.
Some people really love this series so it definitely works for them. I can see the appeal of the fictional helpless/innocent character with the aggressive/protector character. It's not really my thing though, I love agency and communication.
edit - oh and this long time skip but feels like they just started dating happened in the Coffee Melody special eps too, hope this isn't a trend. These characters are in their 20s.
This would have been a 9.5 but I think they made some missteps in the end. 1. pretty sure they had originally intended only 10 episodes and then tacked on the 11th after the series was popular. This makes me suspicious if the original ending was sad which would have been terrible 2. 2 year time gap was way too long, it should have been 2 weeks max 3 months 3. 100 days every 2 years, WTH?!? they should have been able to stay indefinitely and not just 100 days every few years 4. in ep 11,over half the screen time was Jung Woo being sad, they should have cut that to a few minutes and then had more time with the reunited pairs 5. if they have a second season and get rid of the waiting every 2 years for 100 days then I'll bump season 1 up to 9.5 but for now it's a solid 9
