Zhang Ruonan explained in an interview that the director specifically wanted Wen Yifan's clothing to be more baggy at the beginning and slowly change over time to show this transformation. ZRN also mentioned how she was initially a bit confused over the director's decision, as were some OG novel fans (they are brutal, but tbh who cares abt them lmao) but from the choice of clothing you can really see her learning to love herself again. Not sure if this is explicitly said in the drama, but in the novel, there were several instances in which she didn't feel worthy of love.
The fact that Wen Yifan wore her first skirt on her date with Sang Yan a few episodes ago and wore this cute white skirt to Qian Fei's wedding! Sang Yan's love is really showing her that she deserves all the love in the world, including self-love. The details in this drama are immaculate.
