the og novel is a BE?????
Honestly, it seems like a marketing strategy. Hooking the reader/audience to the story and presenting them with what seems like an OE/BE, then publishing a few extra chapters to satisfy the gaping hole that the "disappointing" ending has created. I wonder if they'll do that here, but I surprisingly really appreciate this ending. It really embodies "show, don't tell." No matter if it's Fu Zhou or Ziqi, he'll still love Miaomiao the same.

Chinese novels tend to have what is called 番外, which is basically just an extra few chapters after the “ending”. So in the extra, it’s an obvious HE.

Fu Zhou didn't die. He was in operation for his rare disease.
I’m not a medical student so I could be entirely wrong, but the heart monitor line was completely flat without heartbeat.

I’ve been scrolling on Douyin and have seen a lot of different comments and this might be a good explanation…
Potential reason for why the drama ended the way it did

I’ve been scrolling on Douyin and have seen a lot of different comments and this might be a good explanation for the ending:

There was a scene in the drama where Fu Zhou seems to have died (hospital monitor-heart beat line is flat, meaning he died). This would mean that the person at the end calling Miaomiao’s name is Ziqi. But because of China’s laws regarding time traveling and whatnot, the drama can’t outright show the audience that Ziqi traveled to the modern world. If that’s the case, that would be brilliant scriptwriting, considering the fact that the original novel did “end” with a BE (but an additional chapter afterwards shows Ziqi traveling to Miaomiao’s world and living happily ever after.) What a way to go around that time/world travel ban. I’m also still confused over that ban but oh well.

Omg! I'm going to do it too. It's so cute. All luck in making yours! I think I'm going to do the one with the…
The big star is SO CUTE! Ding Yuxi wore that for his recent singing performance.

This drama's official Douyin handle has 5.4million followers. For context, really popular dramas like LBFAD and Love Like the Galaxy have 2+ mil...I think LGIEF is the first drama account I've seen with over 3mil. That's absolutely insane.

Good luck applying to colleges. Also, do not worry if you they do not accept you. That college is not right for…
Thank you!

I have been so swamped with applying to colleges and just life in general, and this drama has really become a source of absolute comfort over the past two weeks. I don't think there could have been anyone better suited for all four main roles, and am just so impressed with the caliber of acting, costumes, production and music. It's amazing how even with the constantly growing popularity of the drama, the production team is consistently surprising us with little delights, from the MV to bringing the cast together again.

If you've watched the shows (not quite sure what to call them, promotion shows?), you'll notice that the first one had everyone in their historical outfits besides Yu Shuxin/Miao Miao, and she's the only one to wear a Hanfu in the second show. The attention to detail is so impressive and as for right now, the only downside of this drama for me is that it's going to end.

Do you guys know that the production team listened to the suggestions of the og novel fans and bought the rights to the song "Ji Ming Yue"? It's sung by the leads in the drama and is a super popular song in China to use as background historical music. The drama was already super popular, but gained the attention of a lot of the novel fans after they learned about this. (And the song is super good!)
