This girl really just woke up one day and was cast into half of the hit dramas I’ve watched in the past two years 😭😭😭. She’s such a versatile actress, so gorgeous, and has a great personality—I love her!!
These days, it seems too easy for anyone to become the male or female lead in Chinese dramas, unlike in the past.…
I don’t know if I’m interpreting your comment correctly, but I would argue against the fact that it’s “too easy” to get the main role, especially in a drama production like Blossom. Meng Ziyi has actually been in the drama industry for years, with her most notable works being The Untamed and Immortal Samsara. She actually went through a period in which she struggled to find dramas to act in and suffered a lot of netizen hate. Lin Yunrui was fantastic in Love Like the Galaxy—I recommend that drama to everyone. It’s also important to know that a lot of actors don’t even decide their own roles—their company does it for them, so opportunities can be extremely limited. People didn’t really expect for Blossom to be this popular.
And honestly, even if the leads weren’t that well-known, what would be the harm in discovering new talents, like what Guo Jingming is doing? (Journey to You, Fangs of Fortune.) All actors have to start somewhere. On another note, I can’t thank Zeng Qingjie enough for this casting.
The fact that Yu Shuxin is the only listed cast on the official released poster is disgusting. I mean, I have no problem with Yu Shuxin acting out all the roles and taking up all the screen time, (as long as she does it willingly and isn't tired lol!) but it seems like iQiyi is just reaping off her recent popularity to keep the drama under the radar of her fans.
This is very promising so far. Awesome cinematography, acting and overall plot, from what I’ve seen in the first seven eps. This is a drama that wasn’t on my radar but one that immediately hooked me. I’m super excited, hopefully it doesn’t disappoint!
your review is amazing and perfectly captured the series. I actually didn't know it was based on a book. If you…
Thank you for reading!
The ending of the novel has an "extra", which is quite normal in modern Chinese literature. The ending of the novel is a bit different from the drama, but the leads also ended up together in the modern world.
Could someone please let me know why people are saying censorship affected the ending? I’ve seen multiple comments…
The Chinese government censored transmigration in Chinese dramas. Miaomiao going back to the modern world passed censorship because she technically was transported into a book and took on the role of Lin Yu. Ling Miaomiao was never “supposed” to be Lin Yu, she was written to be Mu Qingshi, so she technically doesn’t transmigrate by traveling back to the modern world.
Ziqi is a bit different. He’s both a character in the book and the fictional embodiment of the author himself, Fu Zhou. (Fu Zhou is just his pen name, his real name is Xia Ziqi.) So if the drama ending outright shows him in front of Miaomiao, it’s implying that Ziqi transmigrated from the ancient world to the present. There are a few reasons why transmigration is banned in Chinese dramas. I’m pretty sure the problems started surfacing after Scarlet Heart aired, with people doing some triggering stuff to try to go back to the ancient world.
I hope this made sense. I’m disappointed too, but I’m pretty pleased with how the ending managed to go around the censorship.
I know I'm gonna get bashed, butI can't stand Esther yu's acting.and that voice is even worse
Everyone has their own opinion, so hopefully no one bashes you! I'd steer away from all the dramas she acts in, as she uses her original voice in all of them. Esther is like that in real life too lol (personality and voice and all), especially in front of her friends like Bai Lu.
I had to go through my list (and your list to see what you haven't watched!) and think really hard about the endings…
Xianxia (these dramas usually have three realms, so unlike LGEF, demons and humans don't live in the same realm.)
Beware, these are all super angsty! (but good endings, many of these have endings with kids.) I don't think a single drama here has an ep count below 45 lol) These were all before the [stupid] episode limit.
- Love and Redemption (like the previous user included, very good ending imo) - Love Between Fairy and Devil (Yu Shuxin!!!) - Ashes of Love - Eternal Love (aka Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms) - Eternal Love of Dream (related to drama above) - Ancient Love Poetry -The Untamed (censored BL) - Journey of Flower
Time Travel: - Love Between Tiger and Rose (no magic. And Ding Yuxi!!) - The Eternal Love (has 3 seasons)

Sure! I'll make a list rn. Just thought I'd give you a warning that the user above me's 1st drama rec might not be a "HE". Very good drama nevertheless.
Guyss...Need some chinese period drama suggestions with a happy ending ...😂Thank you!
I had to go through my list (and your list to see what you haven't watched!) and think really hard about the endings each drama had. I listed some of my favorites:
More lighthearted: -General's Lady - New Life Begins
Long-ish, more angst: -The Long Ballad -Love Like the Galaxy
Really long but "masterpieces": -Story of Yanxi Palace (harem drama) - The Story of Ming Lan (also very long)
I can also recommend some Wuxias and Xianxias. They have martial arts and magic. LGEF is a Xuanhuan--time-traveling and magic etc.
Random thoughts I have related to this drama and other cute things because I miss watching it:
- I am still appalled (in a good way) by the fact that LGEF's official Douyin account has 6.3mil followers...and the count is still steadily rising. The drama account with the second most followers is Joy of Life...with 3mil followers.
- The number of Chinese netizens who claim to be "former haters" are saying online that they have been 'captured' by the drama and the leads. Not only did Miaomiao capture Ziqi's heart, she also captured the hearts of some of YXS's haters LOL. (but if you're hating on YSX, you really need to find something better to do.)
- Miaomiao's "thank you, Mu Sheng'er" (when she was eating the bunny apple slices) became so popular that it became a meme/Loopy sticker and there are also Loopy figurines of her now. And they are so darn cute.
- And I can't get over the fact that Ding Yuxi immediately went to go make Yu Shuxin a perler bead Miaomiao after he recently went to the hospital for a fever. He is so caring towards all of his friends.
