Okay...a few episodes in, this drama is EXTREMELY addicting! Idk what exactly it is, the well-paced plot, the characters, the effects, or all of them in one. It's very promising and I'm very excited.

I was getting 'bored' with the drama but then it started picking up speed and now I'm totally hooked!

When it comes to MDL, I've learned to ignore the ratings and just enjoy what I enjoy. Too many haters everywhere for me to bother lol. The site itself also has a lot of things that need to be changed, but oh well.

LOL I can't with Chinese netizens 😭😭😭 They made a ship name for Zhen Yu and Luan Zhu: Zhen Zhu Nai Cha (Boba Milk Tea) and making AI videos of them hugging. But honestly, can those two just get married and exit the drama?? Or we can summon Sa Dingding to whisk Luan Zhu away 🙏

Those two aside, I'm really happy with this drama so far...well-written characters all around (especially the villains), amazing acting, amazing visuals, awesome OST.

Watching the first feel episodes, I really feel like I stepped into the Tang Dynasty. The makeup and costumes were done especially well. Even the maids look like they came straight from the Tang period--their eyes and lips are done so well.

Completely agree. Chinese beauty standards are extremely toxic. I'm 165cm and 54kg, and am told to lose some at least five times when I go back to China. Actresses especially are pushed to their limit...and beyond their limit. 36kg for Lusi is absurd. This needs to stop. None of us want to see a frail A-list actress barely keeping herself standing. Netizens calling her fat are absolutely delusional and probably have no self-esteem themselves.

This is a great sign--anticipated date is January 8th and we know Cdramas can drop at any time, but I really do think we'll be seeing Bai Shuo and Jing Yuan in the next few weeks!
