i have started to watch My Father Is Strange which is around the Five Enough family drama era (2016/17) as distraction from this complete shitshow. But yeah, the worse TRHC gets the more i am looking forward to Hyo Shim as it is a fam drama penned by a veteran of the weekender genre so you won't see such complete and utter structural writing blunders like here.

I have never watched Uee in a drama so no opinion good or bad of her, her character however seems interesting and way less mousy than YD. ML is again a rich, cold/lonely guy with a good heart hidden underneath from what i gathered, so heh. I like that set up of her seeking independence from her toxic fam and crossing ways with ML by chance during it (he trains in the fitness studio she works in) But yeah i am hopeful bc the writer knows what she is doing and is not going to treat a 50 eps drama like a regular 16 eps one or a 100 eps daily she has once written years ago like this idiot here. Atp, i just want TRHC to be led behind a barn for a mercy killing to end it sooner.

I am watching Behind The Touch, My Lovely Liar, want to start watching Moving and The Killing Vote, continue watching My Dearest and finishing Not Others this week, heh.

Five Enough is so so good. The leads are doing the best parenting with their kids i have seen in a kdrama. Once Again is in the same heartwarming family drama vein. So good. Ended up liking it even a bit more than FE, but both show how family dramas should be. Not like this nonsense.

this is the best you can do atp, honestly. Episode 41 with their marriage registration was enjoyable too and showed how good the show could have been if the writer wasn't a pretentious incoherent hack that is high on his own farts and wrongly perceived ingenuity.

She never tried to run away there? It was just Taekyung's panicked assumption due to having quite severe abandonment issues. She was simply resting in the other room to give him some space in order to rest without having to deal with Haneul. Which nice idea but given his panicked response to not having them close by was not the best one.

He has to give them a heads up since he needs his parents permission to be removed from the family register legally. He is basically asking to undo his adoption. Just as a FYI. Otherwise I fully agree.

I just want one singular episode of Yeondoo NOT blaming herself for all the bad happening in the world. Hun, I promise you are not to blame when it does rain suddenly or the sack of rice is tumbling over in someone’s kitchen. This victim mentality, including pointless self-blame is really grating.

What gets me even more is YD/TK not sharing the burden of the newest brand of bs thrown at them, out of a misunderstood “I have to be strong for my spouse” attitude that just makes things harder for each of them. Guys you are MARRIED. You are supposed to be leaning on each other, find comfort in each other, be open about your feelings, thoughts and worries, and find ways out of the dilemma together. I hate this forced lack of communication between them.

Even the few side-stories we have focusing not on this shithead are depressing. One could argue that Soojung and Hee’s son (forgot his name) are in there for levity but eh, not working. It is all doom and gloom all the time, no humor, no reprise from it. Just people crying as they are buried under conflict and strife 24/7.

In it all, the silver linings is how the gongs collective hate the creepy fucker and side with Taekyung and Yeondoo. But I can’t shake the feeling that it is all lip service to a greater or lesser degree because sooner or later I fear they are gonna flip flop like joseon granny did to sing kumbaya to further the worlds worst abuse apologia redemption arc. Because rat bastard is family by blood (supposedly, WHERE ARE THE DNA TESTS?) and we all know they are vampires keen on that alone in the end, always have been.

Where is momzilla when you actually need her bulldozing? But I guess it got so hard hugged out of inok in eps 40 that she is now back to helplessly stare into the distance at the things that happen to her son, doing fuckall. Just like before this manic hysteria episode happened.

Taekyung. My man. My heart hurts so much for him and the way this character is treated like shit 24/7. I am not sure if the monkey on his typewriter was not held enough as baby or why he has such a personal vendetta against and goal to make TK’s life as miserable as possible all the time. As a writer myself as hobbyist that may be it is inconceivable to put a character so much through the wringer without any breather in between, to make them suffer for the suffering’s sake without any perceivable rhyme or reason. Because this is just exhausting for everyone, reader/viewer AND character alike, and jeez the amount of waterwork AJH has to do here, it certainly looks exhausting to act too. Same for Yeondoo/BJH no doubt. Every story needs balance and this is what this drama is so very much lacking, it is just exhausting instead of enjoyable due to the constant conflict thrown at them and TK in particular. It makes me want to send this writer back to a basic writing course, so he learns how story arcs work and how they are structured in a sensible way, bc boooooi is it ever lacking. But that is a topic for another time.

TK coming home tipsy drunk was cute (as was their collective ease to call him appa) but underneath he is suffering, at a loss what to do. And again he is not sharing that with YD, sigh. I liked his ice-cold attitude toward the rat-bastard bc finally someone spelled it out for him that custody is not in the books for him. Seems we are getting the full spiel which requires dna testing at court to support his paternity claim, so this is the only reason I am looking forward to it. There is a distinctive lack of dna testing in this show. Sadly I feel no matter what TK is doing in the end it is rendered void due to the writer’s hateboner for him. It is like in that linkin park song “I tried so hard and got so far, but in the end it doesn’t even matter.” Geez, no wonder my man has now reached the point where he is like fuck it, remove me from the family register I am outta this shit. Now well we can count our blessings if we even get one-five minutes of “happy ending” where everyone is most likely forced to hug it out with both demons as they hold hands and sing kumbaya all a happy family at last. The rat bastard show continues next week as if this hack of a writer still had 20 eps to go, while the so called plot has planted its shit-filled fat ass firmly on the ground moving not one bit in perpetual stagnancy. I HATE EVERYTHING and especially myself for continue watching but well my need to see TK prevail supersedes my reason, I guess.

She might have actually some useful things to say to make ears ring with her verbal slaps. It is about fekkin time she steps up for her husband that is for sure, bc god knows no one else does.
