what almost bothers me more, or rather equally like the obscene character regression done post the timeskip (and even before YD was waaaay too compliant and meek with rat bastard whenever she saw him) is the way the themes of the show have regressed.
It was supposed to be a show promoting childrearing and against the prejudice of adoption and how family is not of your blood but of your choosing. But instead we see how the one adopted character of the show (Taekyung) has been ostracized and abused for not being a family member by blood, basically all his life, how he is never accepted. And once there is a modicum of acceptance after many many episodes there, the rug is pulled under him once more because the true, blooded family member appears and TK is discarded as worthless once more. Was this show meant to promote adoption, because it shows it in the worst light, always and only. As in how you are never enough when you have not the right bloodlines, how you are never FULLY accepted in this case, how you are better off without that family putting you thru decades of abuse and pain in cutting ties and request to be erased from the fam register.
Same with choosing to be a father and raising a child not your own. While TK was taken in by the gongs, the man adopting him did jackshit for him for over a decade, watched as he was abused, was never a father TK needed him to be. And instead to celebrate the willingness of a man to step up and care for the child of the woman he loves and came to love as his own, he is constantly being shown as "lesser" and ridiculed for it by other characters, almost as a mouthpiece of the writer. It is never shown in a positive light outside of TK not giving a damn about all the verbal abuse thrown at him bc he loves Haneul more than anything. But he is constantly reminded by the narrative and other characters how that is not enough, and will never be because he is not the bio father. So we have another disintegration and this time of the show's most vital theme.
Then of course there is the whole single mother juggling career and motherhood that went to shit and absolutely nowhere bc YD has completely given up to be anything but a mother in headlight, staring dumbly in the distance instead to sort out her future and career, have agency and initiative. Nope, nothing. Most she is doing is waving TK goodbye as he is off to work, which sure would be fine if there had been ANY discussion about what she wants to do and what not. Nope, nothing. Even less than nothing as she is super passive all day every day. So in the end, the jerk ruining her spot as a top instructor is proven right that career and kid is being impossible for women, and the show seconds that attitude with YD and her passivity. Even sourgrapes has stopped existing as a character and mother is now only existing as background decor to stare in disapproval at the new writer's pet JH, stealing all screentime and rewarded for all evil done rewarded instead of punished (This is another thing i find super irksome and problematic with the narrative saying... just bully and harass your way thru life without abandon and you will get whatever you want! Other characters will cave in to your will if you just threaten, lie, cheat and blackmail enough without any consequence for you doing so, ever. )
Hence in the end, what the fuck does this story amounts to? Never try, it is all hopeless anyway? Bloodlines are superior, always? Never get any kids as it will ruin your life? Wasn't it supposed to be shown the exact other way around, to "promote the SK birthrate? Lmao. It has all just become... meaningless , contrary and suuuuuuuper backwards from what it had started out and planned to be.
It seems (the latter) parts of eps 47 they are currently shooting got revised, because a very tired and 100% done AJH is holding the script of TRHC 47-2 & 48 into the camera as he silently screams for help.... err is standing in front of the coffee truck fans sent him lmao. He may want to use this coffee truck extensively by the liters tho xD (Pls save this poor man 😂let him sleeeeep)
