It does have enough story (potential) for 50 eps, the writer is just an incompetent hack who never came close…
nope he was not there, we have not seen won since eps 39 and even there he was just a doll prop, not the real baby boy. oooh right he was on the bed in TK's apartment, together with Haneul as HW talked with TK there, but that is about the last time we saw the kid afaik. So damn weird. They do the same with Haneul sometimes even when both parents are out (TK/YD) shown without her with the gongs and then in the next scene you have BN, also Haneul-less lmao. Nothing compared to Won tho, who seems to be KIA in the bullshit strawberry war we are sadly still fighting. Or long before that, even.

the sourgrapes couple bothers me even more in this regard. First they have magically been fixed by the timejump, happy happy family while nothing had changed between them with the same unhealthy dynamic we had all along. And now they have simply completely stopped to exist as own character entities and parents (does won still live? We just don't know) instead to show further the conflict parenting and career brings with it. Or hell, even let both set of parents (HW/JM and YD/TK) swap stories about their kids, talk about their woes and hardship of parenting, and those chars bond over it again. Have play dates, either at home in the park, go outside have fun together and support each other as parents of a kid the same age, but nooooope. NOTHING.

Just pathetically unimaginative bad writing.

exactly, there was and still is no balance nor any visible structure in this story. It should have ended with sister eka and even if she is the real ttalgi deal it would have been fine since she quickly went away again. Right about now should have been the time where the fams rally around the leads helping to protect Haneul, but instead we have to deal with the world's worst most unneeded plot twist that adds NOTHING but dragging out the problem further and to shit on the leads once more. No wonder there is no development in their relationship, even married as they are now. Because whenever should that happen when there is not a single moment of peace for them????? Ugh.

This is what happens when you have the content to make a 12 or 16 eps drama, but you purposefully drag it to 50…
It does have enough story (potential) for 50 eps, the writer is just an incompetent hack who never came close to using the potential given by the characters. I made a loooong post about it above bc as a (hobbyist) writer myself it grinds my gears.
On The Real Has Come! Aug 24, 2023
Tejas made the argument that this story would have worked better in a reg kdrama with 16/20 eps. However i would argue that the story *does* have enough meat for 50 eps, but the problem is the incompetent writer who is so used to write how a couple gets together due to his experience in reg 16 eps kdrama, the build up and all but has no idea to handle the "after" of it. Which basically showed with all pairings we had in the show where it fell flat like a flounder and/or crashed and burned. The writer simply is incapable of developing relationships past that point of will they/won't they, when there are still so many compelling stories left to tell. Structural problems that he indeed wrote this show as tho there were just 16 or 20 eps add to it. You see this in the clear continous structure he had for the first 20 eps of YD/TK's will they/won't they, and it is after that it... floundered. Lemme focus on the leads here bc this will always grind my gear.

Yknow back before everything went to shit with the timejump, I actually thought that they would show TK/YD balancing their careers with parenting and how it would lead to conflicts between them as a couple, but that one arc is how they settle into that life as new parents and eventually they'd figure it out and in effect growing stronger and closer together as they support each other, juggle co-parenting, marriage, careers, and how the families help and support them in this in taking care of Haneul, how she would grow up together with Won and in effect bringing sourgrapes closer together with YD again (does this child still exist? We just don't know)

There was so much potential for char focused stories/growth here in general, to show realities of childrearing & balancing it with job/career, like you know a family drama SHOULD have done. Makes me super angry this hack has wasted it all on a incoherent plot twist to next plot twist chase, and circular nonsensical bs that is nothing but boring and frustrating, and adds absolutely NOTHING of value as it goes absolutely NOWHERE for so many eps already. Simply because this hack is too unimaginative to do anything with the characters and their relationships once they have committed to each other, so this is why we see cheap conflict over conflict and twists for shock effect, simply he is incapable of development past that point. No he is rather regressing them completely to hammer them through his inane plot ideas, no matter what, without any rhyme or reason. Also all conflicts that he is throwing at the lead couple like toxic confetti has been external ever since the lie has been unveiled and he renders them incredibly passive due to that, since they only react, but never ACT on their own. Things only happen to them instead them being ALLOWED (since this is an active writing choice) to act and do something about their situation. All this has been done to drag the same old conflict (with Haneul) out over 10-15 eps now and we ARE STILL NOT DONE with it, ugh.

The only characters allowed to ACT are actually the villains, which adds to the overall frustration as it is win over win over win for them while the leads stare into the distance and cry. There is no punishment for them (ooh nooo the five minutes being yelled at doesn't count, quite the opposite while the leads getting shit on these human toxic garbage people get rewarded for being shitty all the way through by this writer. Another structural problem as others already have pointed out, since their supposed redemption arcs to come feel like a massive slap in the face of the viewers as it is too little and much too late and MAKES NO SENSE.

With a much better structure in its writing, or ANY structure at all instead of repeating the same nonsense over and over again and be stuck on the same problem/conflict we already have been over ten eps ago... they could have shown how YD regains her place as instructor on her own merits, but also that jerks like that one guy can't hurt her career any longer due to being DIL of a powerful/rich fam. That would have been an interesting arc with that jerk trying to ruin her rebuild career but failing hard. Outside of her character assassination from tigress to scared kitten what pisses me even more off is how YD was rendered to a family problem solver only without any ambitions. The writer has forgotten she used to be a top instructor. This one jerk killed her career to make time for family drama & it doesn't make sense. There are so many things they could have explored with the entire story.

Like show how she juggles motherhood & climbs back up to her top instructor spot. TK's working hours are flexible & after HW, he could have taken paternity leave too. But they've dumbed her down so much from who she was. Where's the outspoken YD that was bold enough to leave her job, when they were jerks. The intelligent & ambitious woman that worked hard to support her family & grow her career. It's weird how she just moved in with TK & is comfortable with being supported, without any discussion with him about it or consideration for her career. They threw all that away so she'd have time to have endless meetings for family drama & it's just sad. It's completely normal if she doesn't want to work anymore or she wants to work less, but they did not show any arc concerning her career at all & her coming to any decision for her life. When they were in a fake marriage, YD missed going back to work again & job-hunted. But now, seems she looks helpless and super-passive. And that is just one example what could have been done with the leads instead of them just waiting upon the things to come. Now imagine, just imagine the side stories in hands of a capable writer and yeeeeah, it definitely had enough "meat" for 50 eps, but its potential was never used after the first 20-25 eps, not even in the slightest.

welcome to the club, heh. I would love to say it gets easier, but that would be a lie lmao. However hangul is…
Thanks it is no biggie tho lol. Oh hey if you have Korean friends that is a huge advantage for speaking honestly I'm still super awkward with it and I should stop being lazy with writing Hangul and read more but yeah. Seems you have already the best starting environment available for learning it quickly tho 🎉❤️

I started learning Korean this week and I feel like how grandma did when she was learning haha
welcome to the club, heh. I would love to say it gets easier, but that would be a lie lmao. However hangul is not that to learn, as it is designed to be easy learnable buuuut it is everything else that is not easy, haha. Thankfully there is so much material online that will help you out.

I am 450 days into duolingo streak but use other sources to learn too, however very casually (i could be wayyy further already when i were more serious about it tbh, but i only learn it to read korean subs or rather get to the point where i don't need subs at all for kdrama. Soo eeeeh, steady and little wins the race) Best of luck on your journey it is a long one but keep at it <3

They have exhausted all the evil deeds so I hope that for the remaining eps we get to see the ML 's happy for…
With the flaming dumpster diving direction this drama has taken, you can bet that we have to sit thru a full bullshit redemption arc for both of these assholes which will be trying to brainwash us into believing how they are both now suddenly kind and good people and were just "misunderstood", and it will eat up all screentime still to be had.

So we will get 1 minute of happy ending scene for the main couple if we are lucky. Mark my words.

When a show can generate this much comment traffic and hate-watching, it has to be considered a success, even…
same here. The contempt of the writer... it rankles.

Huh? Moving is not written by this incompetent hack writer here, thankfully.
Yeah. Was just confused by your post bringing up this shitty writer of this turd here with the drama Moving. I am currently making my way thru "My Dearest" which woah the chemistry is off the charts, so i am gonna start Moving after that. Was never on my watchlist to begin with, but i heard so many good things about its writing and char development, i have to try it myself.

Edit: Ah my bad, confused the directors name of Moving with the writer here bc similar. Lol.

No romance yet. Only fl is having a crush on sml.
Nah not yet. It is a true enemies to lovers slow burn dynamic it seems so we gotta wait till 'you lunatic' becomes (my) love 😂

The rat JH, Argh...I wonder if the actor (JH character) walks down the street, he gets heckled? There was a Hong…
i imagine this can happen with ajummas too, heh. He seems to be a nice dude irl tho (the bts vids of him with AJH are always fun) so i am sure he will be able to defuse situations like this heh.

But also the other way around for AJH is valid. Due to his positive role in a weekender he is afaik bound to have some perks aka free food in (small) restaurants etc and probably a lot of ajummas loving him now and do the verbal equivalent of pinching his cheeks when they see him, feeling sorry for him etc hahaha
On The Real Has Come! Aug 22, 2023
Btw, it seems they have edited out a KISS scene of YD/TK in eps 43 (after his panicked wake up and them hugging) lol because surely no one wanted to see that Noooo give us more rat bastard instead. Wth?

Needless to say, Korean viewers are pissed and calling up a storm, like literally calling KBS and demanding for it to put it on SNS.

The title have romantic touch but not showing on genres, so this show don't have a romance trope?
og title is more in line of "A true/pure boxer" so that is definitely an international title thing,
