It has been a while since I commented! The AUDACITY of some people. Hyun Woo and Ji Myeong: it was clear that they…
Welcome back, friendo <3 Yeah i love how the drama tackles the main conflict of The Lie already in its mid-episodes and resolves it, instead to drag it out till the very end and annoy us all with it. It has served its purpose, but now it is time to be done with it and thus for the leads' full commitment and development as a couple and parents to be. Excited to see the new chapter heh. And agreed. Jinjja only has one dad and it will be Taekyung <3
Perhaps this is the only MDL page where we can see so many looooong comments...
which is why i like it so much, tbh. Outside of the few "i dropped this drama" self-reports comments i never not will find weird, there is such good indepth discussion here, bless.
i am there for the livestream and beyond tomorrow, but i dunno if i will be on sunday, tho. Which would mean no summary on that day since i am out and about the whole day, but it is not 100% certain yet. Just a heads up tho
Why so draggy . Show started at 8.6 rating. It slowly came to 8.1. by the September it will definitely turn to…
You must be new to weekend drama then, and many other similar comments i have seen too, for that matter. Because otherwise i am not sure how people expect a 50 eps drama to be exactly like regular kdrama with its pacing, story and character development, like ???? You really have to adjust your expectations bc weekend and daily dramas are different in its structure, or you gonna have a bad time watching it. Especially when you are expecting for characters doing their magical 180 change like in regular kdrama all too often. Because in weekend dramas everything happens more gradual, more like in the style of novel/book writing, with characters at their worst selves at the start and slowly changing through experiences made and people met who challenge their worldview. Things like that.
You are free to watch or not watch whatever you like, but i wish people would be more aware of the fact that when starting to watch a 50 eps drama, that you don't get the whole story presented in 16 eps, but in, well, 50, obviously. So if you lack the patience for that time commitment and its different plot built up, pacing/storytelling structure, you are better advised to stick to kdrama with the normal amount of episodes, instead of self-sabotaging yourself like that and then complain in the end about it being slow, lol. Yes, all family dramas are, basically, each in their own way. I have come to like it a lot, because you spend so much more time with the characters than regular kdrama and see them grow and change over time which i find very rewarding... but it is not for everyone.
Besides TRHC is already quite fast-paced, as it introduces conflicts in one episode and either solves it in the same one at the end or in the next one. From a writer's pov, it is apt in how it sets up a plot point and how swiftly it is also resolved again, with the next one being set up too then. You don't see the usual dragging over several episodes of an conflict in this show that even regular16 eps kdrama do waaaay too often. So yeah, but ymmv idk.
how are you liking this one - do you recommend it? I am almost done with Five Enough I think I have 3 more episodes…
Okay i spoke too soon with OA having no romance, we have definitely a Taekyung doofus i am not in love guy crushing hard situation in that drama, inclusive seeing her everywhere he goes and her being totally clueless about his hard crush on her, now in eps 34 and i amπ€£ Dahee and Jaesuk give me life atm, my adorable faaaaaaaaves. Sadly it will take them another 15/30 episodes or so to get together, lmao.
Happy you liked FE, it is so wholesome. And i guess like it will be in Once Again again, in FE a side-couple was my fave. Yuntae and Sangmin reminded me a lot of Yeondoo and Taekyung with their dynamic too.
Actually, theyβve had quite a few really good hugs between the lead couple. Especially the last two episodes…
Could not agree more to all of this. Plus they really have cute banter with, and also a good understanding of each other without even needing words. Or how one of them notices quickly when something is amiss (like TK did with the tone of the YD's voice in the last episode, which speaks of their level of knowing/getting each other/emotional intimacy despite the brief amount of time they actually ARE together)
And not to forget they really have healthy communication with and treatment of each other. Aka when mistakes are made apologies are made, they regularly check in with and support each other, talk about their day, feelings, and conflicts are solved quickly between them. As it should be between adults in a loving relationship, especially one as new (and complicated) as theirs. Ofc there are hiccups and miscommunication in between happening, because this, too, is a learning process between a newly minted couple living and growing together. But tbh they are better in communication with each other than approximately 85% of all kdrama couples and i love them for this and the healthy representation of a relationship.

It is a very chill family drama, lots of things being set up still in eps 28/14 for later where i am at. It hasn't gripped me yet in the way TRHC and FE did, but it is nice, if slooow watch still. And i expect to become more attached to the characters later, But rn, i like the other two weekenders better, tho ask me again in another twenty (viki) or ten (1 hour runtime) episodes lol. FL's younger sis and ML's bro are definitely my fave atm, super-cute even if they are not dating yet.
From what i gathered tho, any romance is suuuuuper slow in there. Like there is virtually nothing until eps 60/30 upwards (so lol @people complaining about the supposed lack of romance in TRHC.) Plus there is so much frustrating to watch miscommunication between everyone, atm
Just.... what? How is this ML toxic? He is just a socially awkward doofus with a big big crush on FL tbh. And…
hehe, I mean yeah that too, but i mean it more in line of being adorably dumb/naive, eager (with FL) and very kind golden retriever-like hahaha. I love him.
Watching once again atm and I'm at the point where a big bad secret got revealed from one of the children to the mother, who is the same actress playing Taekyung's mother here. Found it amusing because of the current similarities of story (very different circumstances of course) and watching her lose her shit at that daughter lying to her, so to speak, it serves basically as a preview for inok soon, lol π
i'm a having a field day with the grandma. the way she immediately made gu won an employee and made him peel onions…
Right? Won tried his best tho under those onion peeling circumstances, even if he reminded me of my eight years self who was asked to peel potatoes by my grandma for the first time. And in the end she had more peel than potato hahaha. Oh well he passed her test tho and it was so cute how much she liked the flowers of him after all β€οΈ
From the preview text of next episode we know that Yeondoo gives Taekyung the bracelet she had made for him, effectively…
@undisputedchamp8 It was a birthday gift from Taekyung to Yeondoo solely meant for mother and child. You really underestimate the symbolic value it has in the story for her to go and let make one for him as well. Plus her words at the shop with the promise of doing a family portrait for it (with them wearing the bracelets) later on. So after the events YD could have chosen to keep it to herself and not give it to TK anymore but it is said she does in the preview text so this says everything you need to know about she is backtracking or not. And she isn't. Even without knowing certain things of events that fact alone speaks of the writer skipping over the whole will they won't they nonsense and regress of character as soon a certain development was reached with her making up her mind of staying with him.
It will be a tough pill to swallow for inok for sure but she is not unreasonable. Especially if the leads come to her and fess up instead of her finding out by herself. It will hurt for sure but the sense of betrayal will be lesser with them coming clean on their own. Plus her backstory will help to gain another pov and understanding for them than her hypocrite of a husband, after the first disappointment. Also in the end the happiness of her son will outweigh anything else. But yeah she is the key figure in it all and YD would do well to convince her she loves her son for real (pun intended) after playacting the love only.
Bongnim does love Taekyung tons thankfully so he would be the man for the job to fess up to her. Besides BN is related to Jinjja either way so it is less severe if he is the biological father or not. Especially since he is going to be the child's dad and YD's husband either way, not much has changed anyway. Would love for her to go and beat up JH again after knowing the truth tho lol. But yeah she is always a bit of a wildcard with her temper and impulsivity. TK can be glad she loves him so much already tho π€£
I meant moving out into their own place after everything is cleared up bc they need more space for a nursery and the kid either way. Better to do it now when YD still can instead of waiting too long. Plus I would not trust daddy hypocrite with the safety of Yeondoo anymore were I Taekyung. Who is to say he won't pull the rug from under them again if he finds something not to his liking again? Nah their own place would be much better after everything is said and done to have that safety of home and also, privacy not to forget. I'm sure with both of them fully committed to each other now and in their honeymoon phase they would appreciate less meddling and more alone time too π They can still spend most of the weekends in the annex and visit them whenever.
Taekyung seeming cold and distant is just a survivor tactic he'd developed over the years of abuse and loneliness. Self protection, plain and simple, because if you seemingly not care you cannot be hurt (further) But in truth we all know how deeply he feels and cares, and yearned for connection. It is not that Yeondoo changed him, she just allowed him to be himself with her acceptance of and care for him. She is the first person in his life that showed him he is not only enough but also lovable the way he is. She understood him on an instinctive level while also challenging him to become his better self. No wonder he fell so fast and hard for her heh. #somarried
I don't have the preview text or link to it tbh. Lunkera posted it here days ago so you will find it when you deepdive into the comments section here tho π
I mean cool, you do you, but this comment section nor drama has mandatory attendence, so your formal letter of…
Aww to you too then. No need to apologize I'm just observing the trend of announcing to drop a drama in its comment section instead of simply dropping it and moving on, which I personally find weird but whatever hehe
The drama is not for everyone and that is fine. It does require a certain level of patience for its story to unfold and emotional investment in the characters. If that is not given well then it is indeed better to cut your losses and move on, seeing how long the drama is still ongoing but yeah. Hope you find something more to your liking then tho.
Here's a revised version of your statement:The following is my personal opinion and experience regarding the 2023…
I mean cool, you do you, but this comment section nor drama has mandatory attendence, so your formal letter of apology for future absence is really not required π
(Idk I just always found it weird that people find the need to announce they have dropped a drama in the comment section of said drama. Maybe just drop and move on instead maybe? Seems like wasted time/energy to me to comment about it tbh. You are free to do so ofc but still weird lmao. )
your definition of walking red flag is broken. May want to fix it, lol.
Seriously. I am all for watching media with a critical eye and call out problematic content for what it is... but it certainly does not apply here. So it is just like ??????
Are the people hating on the ML even watching this drama? why do y'all hate him are we watching different shows…
Just.... what? How is this ML toxic? He is just a socially awkward doofus with a big big crush on FL tbh. And due to him catching feels for the first time in his life he is so at loss how to handle it. Thus it is like he is sometimes acting like a boy on the playground pulling pigtails, but never really mean. Just being "why would i do this for you" (while doing all these things for FL) self-manipulating bc feels are scuuury, and being a big dumb golden retriever vying for her attention in a pls pls like me pls like me, cant you tell i like you? way I love him lots, he is actually very sweet. He just has to unlearn a lot of privilege from his rich upbringing but he always listens and tries to improve when FL tells him about something/mistakes made. If anything he is a fish out of the water in more than one way, and FL his tour guide, so to speak.
granny is definitely my "i have only known her for five minutes but if anything were to happen to her i would kill everyone in this room" character in this drama. She was sending me places and all of them laughing π€£
