I want to watch this but the fact the 2 leads are technical step siblings turns me off. would you guys recommend
Give call it love a try nonetheless. It is not as though the leads have ever known each other, before the start of the show they'd never met. FL is estranged from her father for a decade since he left his family for his mistress (ML's horrible mother) and married her. Father is also dead so them being step-siblings is veeeeeeery tenuous and technical, if at all.
I don't have much idea about Korean culture so I always wonder why does Kang San dressup different than Yoo Ha…
I would also guess dressing this way is more inconspicuous than a flashy hanbok. People especially of higher status rarely give common folk a single glance, so it is easier to blend in. Something Kang would want in his situation tbh.
A few pointers from the actors about the drama and the second half from their "Singles" magazine interview:
Lee Sung Kyung described CIL as “a drama with blank spaces. Those blank spaces could be the distance between Dong Jin and Woo Joo, the pause between conversations, or the emptiness in the air surrounding the characters. I think the drama well reflected the director’s intention to let the viewers feel all the emotions properly through those pauses and spaces."
About her character: "I was rather passionate to play Woo Joo because she was the quietest and darkest character I’ve ever played. I was glad I was able to play Woo Joo. Originally, I have a very straight posture, but drooping shoulders and unsophisticated walking posture are more fitting for Woo Joo. It was such a bad posture that my whole body was in pain throughout the filming. I also tried to maintain facial expressions and a monotonous tone like Woo Joo. After living like that for months, I found it hard to even smile in real life.”
KYK about his character: "I paid attention to Dong Jin’s looks, behavior, and even gaze. He only ever wears a number of suits, two pairs of shoes, and the same T-shirt all the time. I lost a lot of weight too for the role. Han Dong Jin is used to only listening to others rather than looking into someone’s eyes while talking, so for a good while, I kept my eyes down and only stared at the ground while walking.”
About Call It Love's second half: KYK: “I think it’d be good to focus on the nonverbal expression of Dong Jin and Woo Joo. When they exchange glances or when they brush past each other, those moments show their inner emotions that will be equal to other forms of communication. I think viewers will find it interesting to see the subtle differences in the way Woo Joo and Dong Jin look at each other and express themselves.”
LSK: "Woo Joo’s voice tone also changes depending on her emotions. Please pay greater attention to see those small and modest changes in the way she’s expressing herself.”
You know the schedule is at the top. It says which days it airs on. It’s the same for every show.
Yup i also use the browser like 98% of the times for MDL, Either on PC or mobile, but in 2% the app is good when you just wanna quickly read something lol

the mdl app is basically a much more worse version than the website with way more limited functionality for some inexplicable reasons. It most useful function is the push alert whenever someone replied to your comments, but that it's about it. You don't miss anything in not having it, lol. (because clicking on the alert does not even bring you to said reply comment like on the website, it just opens the app. Nor does clicking on it in your notifications in the app does that, there t just brings you to the show's page, lmao)
Also much like this kdrama, they beat the viewer over the head with the same OST abut that OST is SO MUCH more…
ngl, hearing "stand by your man" 4-16 times being played in a single episode is what made me drop this drama and never look back. And I hadn't even reached the annoying mother disapproving part yet, tbh hahaha
I'm enjoying the show but On Ha Joon just feels like a cheap rip off of Taecyeon's character in Vincenzo. A seemingly…
I mean.... this character archetype is a staple in kdrama by now. The screenwriters love to mask psychopaths as harmless/good characters you don't notice until it is too late for the greatest shock effect. Worked well in Vincenzo with me, but now over a hundred fifty kdramas later i am automatically suspicious whenever the overly friendly/brightly smiling guy or gal appears in a supporting role, lol.
try the currently airing Call It Love, maybe? Which is sadly as undervalued as this one.
Same, my favorite airing drama right now with a slow burn that burns so well hehe. It also inspired me to give APOYM another go, so i have something "similar" to watch while waiting for Wednesday hehe
slow burn story means that the story develops at a slower pace but each detail added in every episode serves to…
So what is a slow burn story? Well, to put it simply, it’s a story that doesn’t try to rush itself or keep escalating things as the story goes on. Instead, the story takes its time getting to the story’s resolution, using an intriguing set up, good characters and character development, and little bumps in the excitement levels to keep people invested in the story.
slow burn story means that the story develops at a slower pace but each detail added in every episode serves to form a fuller picture. Aka you need to give the plot time to develop in order to appreciate it fully. It is a very character-focused drama too with lot of attention to detail.
First family drama i dare to watch bc the trailer was amusing and i like the premise. I mean okay if you count the two episodes of Three Bold Siblings before jumping ship, it is my second, lol. Let's hope this one here keeps my attention for longer, since it is quite the commitment to make with 50 eps haha. (Which feels a little less daunting on a weekly basis tho)
Couldn't agree more. Their love is there in every action they make. The way the look at each others. In their…
Yeah, exactly. Hwan is holding back a lot, and has been for quite a while. Which is why we get his feelings for her as inner thoughts instead of spoken out loud. And his feelings also came/come through in petty bouts when she didn't pay attention to him enough (that polo tournament for example or when they are out in the city in disguise) or regular jealousy regarding the sergeant (or himself even hahaha)
Not only cant hwan act on them as freely in his role as CP (palace vipers are everywhere as we know, sometimes even literally lol) but of course there is the whole dilemma with his friend too. Though you notice how it gets harder for him to do so with each episode as his love for her and wish to be with her grows stronger and stronger. It is why he tried to send her away to the sergeant in the best noble idiot fashion to begin with, in the last episode.
Hence why i expect a true resolution only at the end of the drama, when her name is cleared and the whole engagement thingie solved, so they both can be open with their love (as royal couple at that *fingers crossed*)
Lmao, the episodes with the cult were done in best Café Minamdang tactics... just more funny thanks to Lee Jehoon and the rest of the taxi crew. He makes such a dashing (and convincing) shaman, tho. I love their collective creative insanity so much 😆
Really enjoying this season a lot more, since it is way more focused on the cases and is without all the prosecutor nonsense of season one that stole too much focus away from the taxi team. Much better this way. Also it is not edgelord grim dark any longer, definitely a plus in my eyes. The way they take revenge in utilizing the respective shady person's weakness to ruin them, and the bit of tongue in cheek during it, suits the team and tone of the drama better than... you know... throw them all into the 'eternal dungeon of punishment' and lose the key 😅 Way more satisfying too.
Ofc there is the resident psychopathic crime boss/organization, but that is a problem for another time. They might wanna call "the nation's best banchan" to ask how to handle him 😉😉
It is mentioned that he stays for weeks there instead just one night as he had planned. So some time had passed…
Glad i could help in whatever little ways haha. And yeah, it is a bit immature, i agree. But tsundere gonna tsundering, i guess haha. Personally I have a soft spot for the outwardly grumpy but soft inside character archetype, no matter the gender. So i never take their supposed "insults" too seriously and just hear what they really want to say which is just "don't cry." in this case bc he does not want to/cannot bear to see her sad.
Wasn't a fan of KBS' ML calling her fatty either btw, that was a bit too much for my taste too.
