Dongjoo's birth was a miracle because of the help of several people in the fire incident. "Among 21 deaths, there…
Yeah (lack of romance aside as this was not the focus anymore after they got together and those, in hindsight suspiciously long 30 minutes of dating fluff in eps 11) the more i think about the ending the more i like it, tbh. It makes kinda sense why her dad had to be the last client, full circle etc. And i am still charmed by how little taehee was saved by (highly pregnant) Dongjoo's mom from the fire 🥺🥺🥺🥺 This is such a nice twist on the destiny/destined to be/met as kids trope <3 Finally an explanation for the burn scar on his wrist as well. Now he is "paying DJ's mom back" in loving DJ and staying at her side, awww. Plus Michael keeping the newspaper clippings makes perfect sense in hindsight, since his sister was involved/died there (later in the hospital)

I always thought she died during childbirth, but in truth the fire accident was to blame (smoke poisoning, i guess) and only the baby (DJ) could be saved (by Chungha's mom, no less, wow) It is really all connected in a way that feels nice and believable, under the fate/destiny trope, that is.

what even was the point in her dad dying???
I interpreted it, since death is the natural cycle of life and unavoidable, it was bound to happen as everyone has to say goodbye to their parents someday (they are the ones leaving us first normally) For Dongjoo, as her father said, the time was just premature and sudden and this is something he regrets, but not the other things. It is also about cherishing the time we have with our loved ones instead to squander it, so to speak. Ngl, this drama made me call my mom to check in :D

I honestly expected more scenes with So Ra and Il Sub. ❤︎
Yeah, but she got him charmed to the point where he uses his free day to see her. I think regarding team leader Im and him being a true workaholic, this is as romantic and as much a love declaration as it gets lol.

But tbh, i wished for more romance scenes in general, tho the focus of the drama was obviously on helping people and move on from tragedy, to live as best as possible etc, hence both of the romances, main and side felt as though they would only truly start/grow and be happy once the drama is over (the coffee date scene with sora and Im and Donghee's "better future, together" shot on the street, smiling at each other) Oh well. I would say that is what fanfic is for but i doubt the series is popular enough to have any, alas xD

Settled now on 9/10 for my final score, half a point minus due to the CH bs and half a point for the lack of romance/happy scenes, heh.

HOW DOES ONE DIE JUST CUZ A FUCKING POT FELL??? Explain the kdrama logic!!
Umm, that was quite a large pot that fell down and from that height it gains quite a deadly velocity. Physics are cool but in this case a total enemy and killer. Which is why it should go without saying that is always a bad idea to throw bricks or rocks off a rooftop for shit and giggles, And in this case the brick/rock was a potted plant. A deadly mixture of mass and velocity, like a bullet.

I am rather upset about how this side of the street wasn't made inaccessible during the moving crane usage. If something is to do involving these machinery like rooftop work etc here, you always have to use the other side of the street to prevent accidents like that. This is far more kdramalogic than a pot from large height being able to kill you tbh.

*high five* :D Yeah the drama year 2022 has been a heavy one where shows like FNOS or this one here are the exception. Dunno who has hurt kdrama writers so much this year but i wish they would STOP, so they stop hurting us lmao.

Seeing we have similar taste do you have any recs regarding that btw?

Yeah i plan to start it but after May I Help You being unexpectedly heavy even till the end, i think i need something light and fluffy first before i throw myself into another supernatural cryfest, lol.

Yeah, i have seen it months ago. It was silly at times but the good kind. Tbh tho, no matter which role ML plays he will always be "that dude from mr. queen" for me xD

That is a perfect explanation, and now having seen it with subs, also a beautiful one. I liked how they tied everything together, and why her dad had to be her last client. (Baby Taehee, aww, now i know why he is 5 yrs older than DJ as well) One thing i reeeeally feel is amiss is how they squandered the leads' fantastic chemistry in letting them only be sad together, not just be together after episode 11. Idk they show them growing as people with each of them returning to their respective jobs in the end (which is huge for TH), but in regards of their relationship we just got... that 10 second before the credits and otherwise... nothing..Sigh.

I initially thought it was going to be in the Vein of Move to Heaven, where they rip your heart apart, but then…
Oh gosh true, i was loving Summer Strike till the last two episodes and then my chill drama became all tragedy and doom, sigh. Now The Forbidden Marriage is my last hope for watching something light and funny this year. Tbh, I really don't know what is up with kdrama writers this year. Are they all so unhappy that they can't imagine their characters to be happy for more than half an episode, or are they anxious that the audience will be bored if there is fluff for more than five minutes? I ensure you... we won't lol.

Personally when i write, i love to put my characters through hardship because this is where they grow as people and makes readers feel with them, but at the end you also have to have enough relief for them and the audience to not let it devolve into a misery party with endless angst and suffering. Balance is key and while MIHY wasn't endless misery by far, the balance between dark and light was definitely too slanted toward the former. (From Now On Showtime is the rare exception here which has done the balance between both right this year imo)

Honestly, idk what it is with writers falling into the despair pits in the last episode. Hence, From Now On Showtime…
Yeah it is far from ruined, it fits the themes she has build up and used all the way through and we see all characters move on from all the bad events in their life after all, but that part was a bit too shorthanded, so the overall feeling is while warm remains too melo.

Btw the writer has another, older work called 20 century boy and girl, which is much lighter in tone/topic and slice-of life-ey with romance, if you are interested.

Yep, in the end i feel the mending part is definitely missing. I really liked how she tied all the characters together (little Taehee with DJ's father and the explanation for his burn scar, awww destiny for them to meet later in life heh) but still would have hurt anyone if we had gotten ten minutes of fluff and them being happy without it being prelude to tragedy (like with the kimchi making yesterday) Geez.

why do people like the sml again?
I haven't either, or at least not as far as others have bc i only found scanlations of the webtoon that include the events till the end of episode 4 (which differs from the drama.)

But from what other users said here, it is preeeeetty ensured SW gets his own loveline halfway through and moves on from Sorang with another woman. And that it is a queen candidate, which is how he meets her. And the actress has been cast for that role already. More i dunno myself lol, so we gotta wait and see heh.

Non spoilery opinion: With having watched it all, is way closer to Tomorrow in mood, aka heavy with a few light moments, but more somber throughout than Mystic Pop Bar which imo is lighter in tone, even. New watchers should definitely go with the right mindset into this drama (aka "I will watch something sad/melo with light warm moments and get to know lovable flawed characters, not a romcom" bc otherwise you are going to have a bad time with it.

It just has some frustrating moments/writing decisions in the end, and the drama quite a few flaws overall that will influence my rating downwards. The characters all get their sendoff and happy ending, but I still feel there is not enough relief from all the heavy emotions for the viewers, especially after those dark past episodes and with the last client in the final one. But maybe that is the point, to enjoy life and being with your loved ones as long you can, not waste time or have regrets etc. I don't know, it still feels like something is missing, too rushed. Which is a shame, given how much i loved the drama in many other aspects. Due to that i am still hovering between 8.5-9 as final rating but it will be more likely the former. I still want to write a review so new watchers go into it with the right mindset. Bc a light fluffy watch it ain't not, yet still heartwarming in its own way. Requires the right mood to watch, is all.

Hey please tell me how's was the ending after watching last episode...... waiting for your thoughts 💬.
I am torn.... on the one hand i see what the writer did here and why she did it, but on the other i find it also unnecessary to put everyone through such a hard time in the final episode. The writer definitely stuck to her theme of grief in all its different forms till the end, that is for sure. I also miss moments for TH/DJ as a couple, bc while supportive to each other all the way through i feel they never had opportunity to enjoy their time together, simply as a couple after episode 11. They were always consoling one another while the other is in pain, with too few happy moments we see most prior to their relationship, weirdly enough. With all that happened there was no time for the relationship to grow further, beyond many hugs in comfort, to ease each other pain. Maybe that was the point, but still the happy moments for these two have been far too rare.

It also shorthanded DJ's character quite a bit, especially with the events of this episode to make her suffer instead to reward her for all she had been through and done. And the five minutes of explaining her ability, which is nice as it ties every character and client we met together and it all makes sense, but still it was too little focus on her overall. I say it is still a good ending (tho the TH works as doc again moment very random and too sudden. For once timejump would have done the narrative well, lol)

Oh boy wait till you watch ep 10. But the mentally disabled guy isn't really a bad guy as I've seen from episode…
You know as they say: Great minds think alike hahaha but fr tho, it is puzzling as to way they would take this element of growth away from FL in the drama when the webtoon (supposedly) has it. I wish there was a little more depth to her as well, bc we know little to nothing about her after 10 eps.
