Gosh i knew it was a good idea to wait with writing the review, lol. Like everything pointed towards it lately but i am still annoyed how unnecessary cruel the writer is to its characters in the last episode. I will wait till i have seen it but i hate this writing decision already. By now it is just misery piled on misery, give everyone a rest, jfc
I have a question. The final episode hasn't finished airing yet, right? So why is the drama not marked as "airing"…
Yeah it is, as soon the second last episode of a drama has aired they remove the counter, release the reviews as visible and remove the airing tag as well. Bit stupid to not wait with it until the last episode actually airs of a drama, but oh well.
Wat? They broke up two years ago, lmao. And that after TH went through a life-altering, traumatic event. I am…
Narrow in not considering as to why characters act as they acted as things are not as black and white as you portray it as, particularly not when dealing with grief/trauma is to be considered. Taehee is really not an 'ideal' or strong character, he is just a protagonist with all faults of a normal human being. As viewer it is easy to say he should have xy or so, but as humans we don't make always the best decisions nor know everything (that could occur). Or handle every situation perfectly. Flaws is what makes a character complete and a good character in the first place, imo, because perfection is boring.
Taehee is doing his best, even if that best is just holding his head above water some days to not drown. As someone who struggles with MH issues, i find it very relatable and i also find it quite frustrating when people don't understand how it feels to be like that and why he acts how he acts at that point in the story, but oh well.
And it clearly would have been better if she was a likable person like the impression we get from her when first meeting her, but oh well, that is also due to itaewon happened so they had to come up with a quick backup plan as the script was altered and extended her role/function in the story. I doubt we would have seen as much of her as we have in the end.
Either way, it is what it is, and thus i have little patience for people, no matter their gender, who completely disregard another person's wishes, agency and boundaries in a matter, repeatedly. in general.
10 years? She turned pathetic just because they dated for 10 years? LOL.I and my ex-gf dated for 15 years, and…
Yeah of course, he is very flawed, and frustrating at times, as, well, humans are, in general. We don't make always the best decisions nor know everything (that could occur. Or handle every situation perfectly. Flaws is what makes a character complete and a good character, imo, because perfection is boring.

As for the question if he would run again? No, i don't think so. Simply because he has Dongjoo now whom he loves and trusts completely with everything, and bc he has found a healthy way to channel and express his thoughts and feelings instead of bottling them up and avoiding. Chungha and him were not suited for each other, no matter how long they were together because their dynamic was very different with him being the sole emotional provider instead of it being a give and take.
Ahhh twitter theorized the same tbh and i could see this happen, although there were many many hints about it being her dad in this episode (her doing what her dad wants from her/going back home, "lets make kimchi again next year" etc.) Could ofc be a fakeout, we will only know tomorrow for sure hehe.
This drama would have been more realistic if they dared to show Taehee as coward, no need to try to project him…
Wat? They broke up two years ago, lmao. And that after TH went through a life-altering, traumatic event. I am not going to ride this carousel again in circular arguments but have this here for your consideration as your pov is quite, well, narrow.
Still waiting on it myself (for context bc my korean is still baaad lol) but outside of prime you are unfortunately out of luck atm. kisskh is taking its sweet time for it too today for some reason π
Imo, here, it is more a matter of wrong expectations than bad writing as the had been consistent in its themes…
Not ML, lol. He is a cutie, dealing with a lot of grief/guilt/trauma to overcome during the show. It is another character and you should really see/watch it for yourself to get the full picture. Because this is what happens if you read comments w/o knowing what is actually going on, and lacking the context and make judgements based on that alone. Just watch it, or not, it really is up to you and no rocket science to press play on episode one. Or not idc, just don't judge a(ny) kdrama on comments alone.
Yeah, i will be forever bitter about Big Mouth, the prime example of 2022 in how to fuck up a complete kdrama with a shit ending. The most fulfilling ending of a kdrama 2022 has still From Now On Showtime for me tbh. But MIHY is doing fine so far, too.
LMAO at it still being at 8,6, that is the biggest joke and so is MDL's rating system. Never trust it and always watch any show you are interested in yourself. High ratings are also no guarantee for quality, as this drama will always be the best worst example of how to fuck up a perfectly fine story/show with a shitty second half and even a way shittier ending. And don't get me started on how abysmal this drama treats all of its female characters or we will be here next year still (which is not that long anymore, but still lol)
Okay episode 15 impression, and imo, they are handling the resolution part 1 after we got the dramatic high point…
AH lets go of DJ as he is recalls his murderous father's action, and he has become the beast he had always feared himself., and panics, TH comes home and finds DJ gasping for air on the ground, rushes to her and with one gaze of hers into AH's direction he *knows* and he chases a fleeing AH up a rooftop where he tries to jump down, keeping him from taking the easy way out as he tells him "you should live, live with the guilt and shame of what you have done for the rest of your life." Taehee, you dropped this:π The scene makes clear one more time that AH is no mustache-twirling caricature of evil or without remorse, but, even as twisted as his actions/desires have become, human.
The leads hug it out and TH apologizes to her (you better!). A bit weird how everyone, including DJ, just shakes off that she was nearly choked to death, but okay lol. Had expected at least a hospital scene when otherwise in kdramaland a cold is enough reason to be hospitalized (maybe TH did the medical supervision of her lol, always good to have a doc-bf even if he is not working as one anymore.) or questioning by police but as we see in the next point...
Kdrama police is as useless as always and outside of putting HA in a holding cell and some halfassed apology toward TH, does jackshit. Not even searching his home for evidence, which DJ ends up doing, finding the blackbox memory card. Before that some "nice" closure for HA tho if i were DJ I would not face him on my own. Gotta hustle for the client counter to go down to 2, tho. Welp.
Taehee is facing now all the things even if it means to watch how HA left his brother for dead in the rain which is the content of the memory card DJ found with HA's instruction. After that he is facing HA a final time in jail, and i bet without that parting wall between them, HA would have gotten a dose of his own strangling medicine. Oof, Jun is so good when it comes to freezing someone with a look, ice-cold. I really like how they showed TH grieving/processing everything and the progress of time with Vincent putting breakfast/dinner every day in front of his closed door that remained untouched each time. So simple so effective. Glad they included that scene of him shutting himself away for days, as this is the most natural reaction to have after ALL THAT instead to let him return to his daily life just so. Which DJ surprisingly did easy after a near death experience, but whatever.
DJ waits for TH to sort out his feelings (and now imagine CH to be his girlfriend at this point, she would have never gave him room lmao) and sort out he does. The under the stars dream scene with his little bro is touching as he tells TH to no longer feel guilty and live well. This is the best he can do for his brother anyway, honor him in living and loving well, enjoying life instead of standstill/drowning in guilt. I love how just NOW Joonho's wish is fulfilled and the counter goes down to 1. That surprised me and teared me up a little. Nice nice closure, but also the 1 on the counter makes me nervous. TH goes to DJ and they.... hug it out, like a loooooot and no one can tell me they stopped there with the door to DJ's apartment behind them still wide open, if you know what i meanπ Especially after Vincent saw them and decided to leave them to... it for the rest of the night, instead to play c*ckblocker, hahaha.
There are still no subs so i won't linger on the uncles' scenes as i didn't understand much of it. Some out of nowhere burning building backstory as well. Huh. The amount of dad scenes warms my heart and makes me nervous at the same time. Kimchi family time with dad ordering dime a job for help was perfect and cute. We don't get much in grand romance scenes in the classic sense with the leads but there are always those little smiles and looks without words between them, aka like a married couple. Loved his scene with TH in the car but also felt like a goodbye after he approved of him and hugged him for the gift given to him by TH (oh the difference between him and CH's mom, lmao)
Speaking of exes, I cackled at his very unenthusiastic look when Chungha texted him to meet up a final time. So relatable bc we all have been there, lmao. Ah well he does in a cafe (classic) and we get to see she is doing better (i am unironically glad) and she gives him "not a gift" but wrapped up like one which turns out to be his old stethoscope. Ah, okay. Thanks i guess? Probably the beginning of his return to be a doc arc which tbh, meh, bc Dime A Job is booming and he seems much happier with a better work/life balance there tbh. But we will see.
Sora's scene with Taehee was adorable. She is adorable in general. Yay for a little bit of progress in her quest to woo team leader cutie even if it is going at snails pace (if i got that right) He is definitely charmed by now. I am glad the one secret at least had been discovered, aka him working as a security guard. Less anxiety/cover up work for DJ's boyfriend going forward lmao.
As for the ending... i hate it here. The job he kept secret from DJ is probably also what gets him killed and ugh. I KNEW there was too much focus on him this episode for her dad to come out unscathed. Maybe it is a red herring, but that damn potted plant looked very lethal from that hight. Dongjoo just can't catch a breath/break huh? If he dies i expect a timejump ending with them getting married 2 yrs later (in memorial of dad) and TH returning as doc. Or something. I don't even know what is going to happen and it is the final episode tomorrow aaaaaaaah.
Okay episode 15 impression, and imo, they are handling the resolution part 1 after we got the dramatic high point of plot last week well. More under spoiler tag once i am done writing it lol
Imo, here, it is more a matter of wrong expectations than bad writing as the had been consistent in its themes…
Oh i agree, but so far (eps 15) the drama delivers when it comes toward leading its characters and viewers to a good sendoff/conclusion. We are in the falling action and denouncement part of the story arc and it is handled well from a writer's standpoint.(https://blog.reedsy.com/narrative-arc/)
Also in this case where you have not watched at all yet, i would stop reading comments and watch it for yourself to see if you like it, since it is always up to personal preference. I mean perhaps good to get an overview somewhat but ppl really put too much weight into other ppl's comments. But while we are at it now with other ppl's (aka mine lol ) comment, imo, it is definitely worth watching. Just go in with the mindset that the mood is more like in Tomorrow than a typical fluffy romcom as it handles themes like trauma/grief in all its different forms and the devastating effects it has on people, and to learn how move on after a tragedy in detail. But it is also warm and a very human story that has flawed characters doing their best living with these past scars, and finding new hope, purpose and love along the way. It has situational humor within to lighten the mood (like tomorrow) and lovable side-characters and healthy family and romance/lead dynamics. Tonally, the drama gets very somber and even dark, at times around eps 12-14) but there are still little moments of relief and light within to ease the tension and sadness. It makes a small detour into thriller, even, lol. But this is something you may want to be aware of when starting to watch it. Aka that the first half is a bit lighter since it starts there to build up its narrative arc that finds its climax in eps 14. And don't believe everything you see or characters tell you, hahaha.
Kdrama old disease of 2022 Great first halfBroken second halfI always read more negative comments when the drama…
Imo, here, it is more a matter of wrong expectations than bad writing as the had been consistent in its themes and plot-build up etc (the story arc structure is as exemplary as it gets technical-wise (https://blog.reedsy.com/narrative-arc/), even with the turn of events. It just got a lot darker tonally and less romancy/humorous the past two weeks/four eps in favor to focus on and resolve the main plot.
Now we passed the "climax" part where everything/conflicts/the confrontation etc mounts to a head, and have the resolution to it all, tying off loose ends, lighten the tension/mood, rewarding /punishing characters etc right now. Imo when the latter fails to happen and you get out of the story unsatisfied due to a lack of resolution, it is bad. Not however, the darker tone of the second half, as this has never been your fluffy romance drama to begin with.
