also as i was predicting Taehee, in his current trauma ridden/triggered state, is rejecting Dongjoo at first,…
I think he will and also that she should fuck off, like how many times has someone to say no/reject you for it going through your thick skull? Have some fekkin self-respect gurl. I hate characters like that, no matter which drama.
Following live tweets and yep, the Chungha situation is going to go/resolved today. Prayer circle for this woman…
also as i was predicting Taehee, in his current trauma ridden/triggered state, is rejecting Dongjoo at first, Noticeable is here how he lying through his teeth (quite harshly even, ouch) while his eyes say something wholly different. LJY does well here in showing his character being torn through an array of subtle, conflicting expressions.
that epilogue really broke something inside me.. i couldn't control my tears for some reason...
It was so sweet and yet so sad and i loved how they linked it to DJ under the theme missed chances/seize the moment as long it is possible. Made it all the more poignant bc death is so final and one of the drama's big themes is to (learn to) live without having regret in the end, to cherish life/the time given to you for as long it is possible.
Even though I enjoy watching DJ and TH as a couple, I can't help but feeling that TH has absolutely no good reason…
Honestly he did NOT *chose* to be/feel guilty, no one does so, for that matter. It is full fledged trauma and unresolved grief he is dealing with and this is never as straightforward or rational as you wish it or him to be about it. I explain it here more in detail:
Omg that just made my night! AahhhPlease I hope they donโt drag out the ex girlfriend thing, itโs making me…
I made an embarrassing squealing noise the first time i saw his hand grasping hers, ngl.
It kinda feels like the end of the episode-ish with the way they look at each other. Also it could be kinda twofold meaning with Taehee saying "sorry i am late" as tho he comes to terms with loving her at last. But yeah no idea who these other ppl are or why she is there, lol. We will see. Just love the bit where he basically goes "sorry i am late, honey" and takes her hand, right after they asked her where her bf is. Perfect timing ๐
i am not even sure what is going on here, but still excuse me as i am crying, screaming throwing up because of the end scene of this episode 10 pre-release:
Waiting for a scene when Taehee wants to invite Dongju to dinner again around Ildangbaek, but Dongju stops him…
lmao, it is like saying beetlejuice or bloody mary 3 x in the mirror. Only that any eating plans uttered conjure his delulu ex. Dunno what is worse tho ๐ Honestly, I will sue the writer if they don't have a mukbang feast to make up for all the missed dinner dates before this drama is over xD
I mean, sure, it does not make for the most frustration free watch when it comes to Taehee and his ill-adapted…
Like he made good progress with opening up to DJ about what happened and his feelings of guilt, but it is realistic to show that the process of moving on from trauma is never a straight line. There are always set backs, one step forward, two steps back kind of things, bc mental health is complicated. And even if he was not endangered in the incident as it is typical normally, aka surviving when the other did not in an accident etc, it is full on survivor guilt what he shows. (Tell me I am wrong bc it all fits:: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/325578#causes)
It is veeeeery poignant to see in the two scenes with Vincent and i love the dialogue as they give insight about HOW DEEP the trauma runs for Taehee. The drama did show it before through various scenes as it uses a lot of visual storytelling for its narrative, but it was never talked about in this extent.
"You live like you are trapped somewhere."
That is... probably the best/apt description of what trauma is and what Taehee is doing for the last two years- Pushing people away, remaining friendly but distant, surviving instead of living. Conceal, don't feel. And I once more love the dialogue writing in this drama, bc characters talking (nearly) always serves a purpose, to either further their development or give the viewer or even the characters more insight into a situation/person etc "I pity you most of all, keeping it all inside." This is good, insightful stuff.
All the more that Taehee confesses how he should not get better, live and be happy. He fears because to him it means to forget what he has done, his guilt and how people are miserable and continues to be, because of him. He ruined/ruins everything. Hence why he cuts off ties and is emotionally so distant, particularly to CH. She is a reminder of what he buried deep inside, his wrongdoings. Unhealthy coping mechanism ultimate. And this deep into trauma tunnel vision he doesnโt see or remember the many times he made DJ smile/happy or he smiled because of her. Or worse, feels bad due to it.
Either way I donโt want to repeat all what is said in the dialogue between him and his uncle. You can rewatch it, if needed. My point is, this is why we probably see him refusing DJ at first. Since he does not deserve to be loved or to love, nor happiness in his eyes. It is full on his trauma speaking atm and really wish I could send off this character to trauma and grief therapy, lol. Tho failing that as so often in kdramas alas, it will need some outside force in order for him getting to accept that he is worthy of DJโs love and allowed to reciprocate, and to be happy. To get him out of his self-inflicted stalemate. Yes, other than clingy, delulu ex keeping bothering him.
Hence why we will see more of Hae Ahn trying his luck with DJ, and her ex appearing in eps 10 as the preview showed. Thus a bit of patience is needed with Taehee still, because getting better/moving on is, as said never a straight line process and I am glad the drama is showing that. (Even if I am like โWHY ARE YOU STILL NOT DATING?โ most of the other times, haha)
I mean, sure, it does not make for the most frustration free watch when it comes to Taehee and his ill-adapted trauma coping mechanisms (cutting off ppl around him, shouldering the burden alone bc he thinks he does not deserve to get better, and he alone is to blame what happened etc), but i actually really like the show's depiction of trauma and survivor's guilt. It is well done and realistic. [continuing under spoiler tag}
I used other languages in the subs and when they asked โhow did you two meet for 10 yearsโ the translation…
Yeah, this is the truth after all. It is just the one scene where one subtitle said in the 2020 flashback, "how they were meeting again after 10 years", as if they were both, separated and also dated for ten years each that did not make any sense. The separated line is wrong as the nurse only asked "how they were meeting/dating (for so long) and CH replied "It is fate.." Nothing more :)
I used other languages in the subs and when they asked โhow did you two meet for 10 yearsโ the translation…
Yeah and korean being a guessing game language since SO MUCH is dependent on context and often even interpretation, when it comes to translating it, does not exactly make it easier.
Me, starting to learn korean: Okay, once i learned the sentence structure korean will be so logical. The grammar makes sense too. Nice. Me, now, 9 months in: You get a guess, i get a guess. We just guess together (what it means.) It is a free real estate ๐คฃ
I used other languages in the subs and when they asked โhow did you two meet for 10 yearsโ the translation…
Yeah, that makes much more sense tbh. I thought already that it was a mistranslation as i went back and kept rewinding to listen to the dialogue. I did not hear "10 years" being said in korean, which is "simnyon" in romanization or 10๋ in hangul. Someone further down the korean pipeline feel free to correct my A1/A2 self, but the dialogue sounded more in the line of "how did you two meet (so long ago)" without the ten years being even mentioned. Thus her reply it being fate makes also more sense, so yeah xD
I was going to say the same thing because they are young so according to that they should started dating during…
I mean that is possible, seeing he said she was his first love. But even to me, who made a wholeass timeline in the forum, since ppl forget about the two years that have passed in between all too often, am a bit confused by what they said and how it fits into there.
TH is 30 now, and they broke it off 2 yrs ago. So they basically started dating at 18? We just ignore this whole ten yrs separated thing bc it makes no sense at all, lol. Or maybe they were going to an elementary school together then one moved away or something and they met again in HS/uni? Ahhh ๋ชฐ๋ผ์. ๋ชฐ๋ผ์ ๐คฃ
I think what annoys me most is how Chungha is upset that he's moving on which is a big red flag about her to me.…
yeah, she started off so well and as a sympathetic. intelligent woman, but alas they have reduced her now to one thing only: Obsessing over her ex,. I hate that writers fall into the same tired tropes with SFL's and turn them into whiny, entitled and selfish exes/brats that do never take no for an answer and are off to delulu land. Happened a lot with SML's this year too btw.
