Personally I prefer more angsty dramas, and even given the theme (death of beloved woman), it definitely won't…
i mean that is fine as long it is well-balanced. Like, my current airing fave "May I Help You" is about helping to fulfill dead ppl's last wishes, so it gets somber/tearjerking in between, but never forgets to balance it out with lightness and warmth (romance)
It is just that 2022 was rather a year in which kdramas veered strongly into miiiiiiseeeeryyyy and aaaaangst and making characters suffer without to provide (much) levity to it. Even in shows labeled as comedy/romcom. This is what i am tired of tbh and i wish for a better balance, outside of a handful of 2022 kdramas that provided it.
Honestly, writing and story-beat-wise it is never a good idea to drag out conflicts for as long as the drama did…
Hence why i am holding out to todays' episode to decide whether to continue investing time into it or to drop it, because it is not about being one team or the other or winning or any of the gross game analogy when talking about relationships (fictional or not), but about how much sense the resolution (if there is any) and characters still make this late in the story.
Honestly, writing and story-beat-wise it is never a good idea to drag out conflicts for as long as the drama did…
Hmm, dunno. I feel the ideal point has passed, which would have been episode 10 with his confession, but it was wasted with that drunken kiss and further zombie-fying this love triangle conflict bs instead to shoot it dead in the head as it should have been, lol. In the end dragging it out feels artificial bc we know, with VERY little exceptions that FL will end up with ML in a kdrama because SML is just there to create external conflict between the leads, but (almost) never more. Yet of course the how it happens also matters and imo that has not been done well or organic to the characters by now (mostly due to missing the ideal point to end it and shift the focus to other topics/conflicts within the story)
Serious question for Jungwoo fans. Is it worth it for you still if he ends up with Haeyi or do you think thatβs…
Honestly, writing and story-beat-wise it is never a good idea to drag out conflicts for as long as the drama did it. This is frankly inept writing and pretty much tells me that your story hasn't much to offer outside the love-triangle that serves as main conflict (with the actual thriller/mystery part either forgotten or falling flat) and in effect just annoys maaaany of your viewers (or readers, but we are talking about a kdrama here) Because it stopped feeling natural and organic to the story/characters a long time ago, and should have been solved around episode 8-9 at its latest to make room for the underused thriller elements, character development/bg particularly ML, and focus way more on the cheering team (competitions, rivalry w/ other teams, their bond as a team, etc) and issues coming of age brings with it.
Which would have made for a much better story, because (by now) this forced and arbitrary drawn out love triangle bullshit makes the characters look/act like clowns π€‘
Prayer circle for one single drama that does NOT is/turn super-angsty, serious and grim (halfway through) Just gimme some cute, light comedy with romance, because this drama year was already *exhausting* enough.
Nah. It got woooorse, they keep dragging the love triangle's resurrected corpse screaming and kicking from its…
He is a random background character i have already forgotten the name of, lol. He was several times in picture with the leads/cheering team, but the drama sold it to the viewers as a gotcha moment and showed flashbacks where you see him with the others. As if this was a shocking revelation, but it just made me go "huh, who?". It was very weird and anticlimactic, tbh.
I haven't watched the most recent episode yet (just snippets with that icky kiss and read twitter threads) but apparently Jungwoo meets up with him there to confront him. So there is possibly more to that story/guy but i dunno more than that, tbh. Since i wait for tomorrows episode/outcome to decide if i invest any more time into this trainwreck of a drama.
The story doesn't seems to be interesting I dropped it at ep.8. Any progress ??? Actually any good progress in…
Nah. It got woooorse, they keep dragging the love triangle's resurrected corpse screaming and kicking from its grave to the center of the drama to drag it out further. (There was the reveal of the culprit in eps 9, but it was very underwhelming as well, while the drama played it as "gotcha moment" lmao)
I am holding out till tomorrow's episode to decide if i drop it like a hot potato tbh.
Lol, i feel it is always the underrated/overlooked airing kdramas that i become smitten with. First Crazy Love, then From Now On Showtime in spring, Gaus Electronics lately, and now this one.
Oh and btw, if you enjoy this drama, don't forget to rate every episode with a high score individually here, to bring up its overall score:
Another drama that forced me to comment. Generally i enjoy watching drama and reading comments without taking…
Bad streak indeed and while i enjoyed LIC solely for the main couple, the current airing kdramas are keep disappointing me. Try for May I Help You, Crazy Love and From Now On Showtime if you want wholesome, funny/light stories with romance and happy ending (MIHY is still airing but a) sadly vastly overlooked and b) the leads are cute as heck and pretty much a done deal) Those are my faves of this year (along with Gaus Electronics) because they don't pull this shit, nor take a u-turn into terribad territory halfway through.
For the other category, Flower Of Evil (romance but married couple, very complex dynamic i adore), Vincenzo, Poong The Joseon Psychiatrist, Zombie Detective (light and funny), The Killer's Shopping List, Chicago Typewriter, My Name, Happiness, Inspector Koo and perhaps May It Please The Court?
Also lemme know if you need more recs of romcoms that are not shit/boring. They exist, if far and wide in between lol.
Drunken kisses are not romantic or meaningful in any way. It's just a bad culture, please stop encouraging these…
Yep. Also it is dubious consent and icky for this reason alone (as a drunk person cannot consent, either in parts or fully, since they are, well, drunk)
I'm sorry to all the actors but this is SO TRASH with their fucking love triangle. It had so so so much potential…
And normalize being kissed/kiss when drunk, when the drunk person is in no way able to consent. It is the second drama in a row where i see this happen (LIC was even more icky with it as there sober SML forces a kiss on drunken FL and in the end FL is the one apologizing for it) It is just fucked up how they keep using it and play it off as romantic.
I just caught up with the drama and liked it thus far, but seeing they drag out this shitty shitty love triangle with no resolution in order to fill the 16 eps quota, i kinda feel i have wasted my time to get up to date yesterday. Ugh.
Lmao. These drama could have been better, i agree. But I have watched drama which are worse than the ones you…

FL works in a funeral parlor so the stories of the people will get told episodically (keep some tissues ready)…
Oh that sounds good and I have this on my list (missing) might give it a try when I want something less romance heavy then ππ gotta first mentally brace myself to watch queen's umbrella it seems haha. For now I am not ready to give up on more light stories and dramas. Just started Please don't date him" to see more of may I help you's ML. Love and Leashes is great too with him.
