It's weird, never liked a couple as much as Sang Shik and Na-rae in a long time. Can someone pls recommend another…
Crazy Love, Mr. Queen, From Now On Showtime and most recently May I Help You are my faves regarding (not quite) enemies to lovers. Welcome To Waikiki comes very close to GE's style and humor tho, and has a slow burn romance too. Angel's Last Mission and Thirty But Seventeen (Still 17) fall also into the enemies/dislike to love category, but are emotionally heavier/more serious dramas than GE of course. Same for Tomorrow With You. All worth watching, tho imo

I get needing closure and she deserves that as much as Taehee. But nothing of her behavior is in any shape or…
It is a shame yeah, but i would not go so far as to say the show is ruined due to that. I get the intent behind her appearance (namely for TH to face his past/trauma) it is just not executed aptly, tho. Everything else in the show is done so well tho, with the leads being cute as heck and their relationship progress so effortless and natural it feels like watching two ppl falling in love in real time tbh. Plus the side characters are lovely and the stories of the dead people are meaningful and touching. It is all very cohesive and well written, except for the ex. I hope the story will fill us in with more details as to why she acts how she acts (there has to be more than the breakup years ago c'mon) and TH's bg and further events with the boy/boy's relation to ML in general.

She reminds me of the delulu ex in Crazy Love tbh, ugh. Sure the breakup was shitty but better than he dragging…
Oh definitely different circumstances behind their breakup, for sure. However they share the same "he will take me back no matter what happened he still LOVES me as much as i still love him" delusional down to pathetic mindset though. That is what i meant with she reminds me of CL ex. Or kdrama writers just use the same old tired character archetype, just with a new, shit-colored paint, sigh. It is such a shame for she was introduced as smart and compassionate, only to land now into unhinged/delulu territory with her ass first. And yeah agree, there is something unsettling about the way she acts toward ML (the sheer entitlement) and idk, something is very off with her. i cannot put my finger on it. Feels a lot like dependency issues tho. Even as they were together, because as we know now she never made the attempt to find/build up a social circle outside of her partner and depended FULLY on him alone for support and her emotional well-being, which was/is.... very unhealthy tbh.

I feel Taehee will be getting there soon to tell her off (in all its extensive entirety needed) after the first shock of seeing her has been stomached. And Dongjoo will be the reason why he puckers up to face his ex. Not only because he is obviously in the process of moving on romantically and is full on smitten with Dongjoo, but also because he expressed the tentative wish to rely on "a woman" and tell her everything (meaning FL, obvs) And since DJ has responded in kind to his vulnerable moment (you can rely on me when things are hard) he knows there is someone who has his back without judgement, and it will give him the strength and courage needed.

That is why i love the leads so much, btw. They are such a comfort and support for each other in a wholly healthy, non-codependent way. And you notice that with how happy and at ease not only Taehee (especially in contrast to with his ex) but also Dongjoo is whenever they are together.

I feel there is more to his story than meets the eye but after the sml red flag galore in cheer up and love in…
Yeah he is cute, but i have an inkling that the overly cheeriness is either a facade or coping mechanism. And agree, I hope he just stays cute and cheery in the bg too and that is just because i have just seen too many kdramas that i suspect him of something more/bad haha 🀣(Also i am tired of creepy/entitled SML's. Let me have a good one pls)

SML must be Hae Ahn. Since the early episodes, he really likes Dong Joo. But upon noticing the rain incident,1.…
I feel there is more to his story than meets the eye but after the sml red flag galore in cheer up and love in contrast lately, i am already happy about such an unassuming, nice/respectful sml as he is, ngl. (Yay for not imposing his crush/feelings on FL and respecting her boundaries. Gawd, the bar is on the floor for smls' atm, i swear πŸ’€ πŸ’€ πŸ’€)

Fair but I fear she already is all that with her delusional hope of getting back together as if nothing happened. I'm so annoyed that the writers don't give us for ONCE a well adjusted SFL who has her shit together and is ready to let her ex go while having sought out her own happiness/went to therapy counseling to deal with lingering issues. Gimme an ex who doesn't want to get back together, nor is intrusive toward the former partner, but someone who is able to wish the other well bc they have their own life that is not 100% hyper focused on a(n ex) partner. It would really not be so hard to implement this, instead of the same old tired clingy mentally unstable ex character archetype for draaaamaaa, siiiiigh πŸ˜©πŸ˜’

Kinda sad that no one is seeing this from the SFL’s point of view. She is obviously from a dysfunctional family…
I get needing closure and she deserves that as much as Taehee. But nothing of her behavior is in any shape or form healthy tho, nor are her expectations and complete disregard for his boundaries/him telling her to stop contacting him. it is downward creepy to be stuck on an ex partner for years and never even attempting to move on and to build up a social circle and support system for herself. Her family is not an excuse for her failing to do so, shitty as they may be. Taehee may be responsible for a harsh breakup but he isn't to fix her life or be her only fixpoint/social contact in life either. This is so unhealthy and I wish kdrama writers would stop pulling this crap and send her to therapy instead. Because it isn't cute nor romantic to be stuck on one person as her savior for *years* Gurl gotta put in the work to save and be responsible for herself instead and move on like Taehee wants to do with Dongjoo.

Kdrama screenwriters writing a realistic three-dimensional SFL, not stuck in emotional limbo because ML left her years ago challenge 2022.

The ex isn't well in the head I'm afraid
She reminds me of the delulu ex in Crazy Love tbh, ugh. Sure the breakup was shitty but better than he dragging her down too with his trauma tbh. They both need closure and thus talk honestly, but for her to think they'd get back together as if nothing happened 🀑 I already hate the way how she is forcing her way back into his life, disregarding all boundaries as if she is entitled to his time and attention. Yikes.

Not to mention two years have passed and homegirl has not moved on or tried to foster any new social contacts in the slightest like any normal human being would? Wow what a healthy and not at all obsessive, mentally unstable behavior that is πŸ’€πŸ’€πŸ’€

We know that when the clingy ex is introduced the drama gets a little annoying. But I reactions TaeHee is showing…
Yuuuup. Another small detail i noticed now the subs arrived and i can feel like a clown for missing a lot with my still subpar korean skills, is how the flashback shows that ex doesn't like/can't stomach hot drinks, which he knows/took care of at that time.

What does he give her to drink when she appeared out of the blue and invited herself in? HOT black coffee. I dunno why but i find this very amusing and it feels kinda like a more sophisticated f-- off toward her🀣

This show is a hot mess I like it at the start but everybody is acting so messy. ML is leading on SFL. FL just…
For real though it is the drama of asshole people. I have rarely seen such a huge bunch of unlikable characters collected in one single drama. Like i get that the drama tries to be "realistic" with putting flawed people in the center or something, but at least make it make sense and thus less frustrating to watch. Because there is no com in this rom, and even barely a rom to begin with. Question is... what is it then/now?
Replying to andjaje Nov 16, 2022
is it avaliable with subs anywhere?
Not yet, unless you have amazon prime and are living in the regions where it is published (i don't so i should finally invest into a VPN very soon lol) Should be soon up on kisskh at least with subs, for now i am getting by with the raw version and my 9 months of korean learning lol (with mixed results haha)

I know the trope of ex coming back is annoying, but can we forget that part for a bit and instead talk about the wholesome dynamic between Taehee and Dongju's father? Like daughter like father. he makes Taehee feel at ease and will probably be their biggest supporter once they start dating. TH is already accepted as son in law hahaha. And just as he was feeling down due to his ex and all, DJ's father called him over for a coffee, and gifted TTH a backpack he made for him 😭πŸ₯ΊπŸ₯ΊπŸ₯Ί

And Sora is cracking me up with her pursue of the funeral director her grandmother supposedly sent to her, although she is coming on a bit too strong toward her "future husband" Poor guy got startled by her 🀣

Honestly the side characters are so lovely too in this drama. After LIS and Cheer Up's sml red flag galore it is also nice to see a gentle, non-toxic SML that is kind and respectful toward FL and is not demanding her time or attention more than she is willing to give (despite having a(n one-sided) crush on her) Like despite the annoyance with ex and all, this drama is so very wholesome and comforting <3

Did they have to insert a third wheel into a ship that hasn't even started sailing yet? 🀨And an ex to boot,…
watched it raw so my understanding here could be a bit lacking, but i am not a fan of the fact that she seems to be of the category of ex who wants to get back together, sigh. Taehee is all but receptive however (like just watch how different he acts toward her in comparison with Dongjoo. He does not even want to be in the same space with his ex) so i am not worried at all. We will see though.

I know right. More like he is scared and sad to be in the same space as her. Like he is stuck in time unable to…
Yeeees he truly portrays the difference of interactions between with his ex and with Dongjoo so well. He is so flirty and simply at ease with her (while also awkward and trying to impress DJ bc he got it bad by now 😏) and it is just misery with his ex as though someone had sucked all life out of him. It is really striking each time he interacts with each of them.

I love LJY subtle gestures and expressions that show how his character falls more and more in love with DJ/is totally whipped for her, tho, It is the cutest awww, also how they gradually open up to each other, it all feels very natural.

That whole shift in Taehee when he sees his ex though, wow. Body language, expression and manner all changes from open, happy and smiley to the complete opposite. He is guarded and quiet to the point of not even looking at her while she talks. He really does not want her to be there.

Dongjoo left so they could talk, but is jealous, tho πŸ˜‚
