The comedic genius of Jane The Virgin is hard to replicate though I'm starting to warm up to this adaptation too!…
I miss the sarcastic af narrator most tbh xD But yeah I rolled my eyes at the drama giving her a husband but that is SK conservatism for you i guess *sigh*
Well,Do ML and FL know each other already in the original series as well??
Yes. They met in a similar fashion (shared a kiss) in the OG if i remember it right. Can't remember if they knew each others names/talked or if it is the same like in the drama now, been too long since i watched it.
Maybe this is just me being too atheist/agnostic for this shit, but i find SML a bit unsettling with his view of how every small touch is dirty/a sin to the point he runs to church to confess. He would not even kiss her, like wtf? Sure it is an adaptation and thus not og Michael but I don't like they made him so religious in this drama that it dictates every move he takes. And his JTV pendant was generally more fun/interesting a character tbh while SML of this drama seems to live in the church and it is his whole personality so far. Meh.
its reminding me of taxi driver with the annoying detective character who can't read the room.
Lol, he gives me strong SML from Strong Woman Do Bong Soon vibes who was also a detective and a complete ass. He is probably guk doo's lost brother or something xD
I have not watched Jane the Virgin but this drama to me looks very kdramalike.
Of course it does because they adapted it for SK audience. The og show is very heavily influenced by Latin American culture/customs and a satire of Telenovelas basically. Plus they have to condense 5 seasons a 22 episodes into 14 eps so a lot is/will be rewritten, left out and modified.
I’ve been waiting for this too since it was promoted but sadly its not available on Disney + streaming service…
Don't hold your breath, seeing that snow drop is still the only kdrama internationally available afaik. You are best adviced to watch it on alternative streaming pages such as dramacool since Disney plus does not give a single fuck about their kdrama international availability.
Okay, I take that back, the end of episode 6 was good and finally puts the romance plot back on track especially…
I feel development regarding their romance gets rolling now after characters and dynamic is now established... You know the typical episodes 7/8/9 of a kdrama, lol.
When I see comments like this I wonder if we are even in the same world. You think this is absurd and I don't…
Yeah in JTV it was a regular check up gone wrong (tm) instead her very first OB/GYN visit in her late twenties. Dunno why they chose to die on that weird hill tbh.
Wait, many people dropped this because of the ghost speaker part?
Not sure about many people but it is an odd thing to criticize in a fantasy show with ghosts, shamans and evil spirits. I think it has its ground rules of how it works well established by now (aka "normal ppl aren't able to see/talk with ghosts. Which IRL paranormal groups do when they go into haunted locations using voice recorder etc too to contact "the other side" and find proof of the haunting there (called EVPs)
Hence bringing in that device (and even explaining its rules of function) into the drama to let non-"spiritual" ppl communicate with the dead is nothing that was too outlandish to begin with.
Looking at the 2 episodes, the leads love each other are stuck between the royal politics. Storyline is similar…
I have carefully chosen my sageuks i watched so far (Mr. Queen, Moonshine, Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, 100 Days My Prince, Love in the moonlight, The Crowned Clown, The King's Affection) so ALL of them have happy endings (TCC is a bit trippy with its end tho) Hence bloody hearts is the first sageuk where i expect things to not end well for anybody involved, but with this drama i have 13 episodes more to steel myself for the impending doom at least lol.
Probably why i haven't watched Queen For Seven Days and Red Sleeve yet tbh, despite the latter being praised so much for its quality) I just don't like sad endings much, but i am willing to take the plunge/risk with this drama for once due to its quality. And who knows it may give me the guts to finally brave Red Sleeve as well afterwards lol.
Does it have "sageuk politics" or not? Want to watch it for Jang Hyuk.
If you want a lighter sageuk (aka less serious and with more comedy) try Mr. Queen, Moonshine, Flower Crew: Joseon Marriage Agency, Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung, 100 Days My Prince and Love in the moonlight instead. All of these shows have politics/scheming as a sideplot to varying degrees but they are less heavy/serious historical dramas than Bloody Heart is where palace politics is the front and center of the plot.
This is much better than Tomorrow which I only liked the first 2 episodes by current MBC fantasy dramas. I like…
Tomorrow is a complete different drama tho with serious themes and social commentary. It has some comedic elements for levity in between but they are far and wide instead of a focal element such as for this drama. Just because they have supernatural elements doesn't mean they are comparable. 😵
Tomorrow's serious nature makes it appealing to watch (for me) for different reasons than showtime which I watch for its humor and the main leads romance tbh.
It's a slow burn I assume, so yes and no, the romance isn't really the main plot of this drama so that's why.…
I mean YMMV as it comes down to taste in the end, but seeing you only watched one episode so far it is really not enough to get a full picture of the drama, imo.

Not to mention the ghost squad is awesome and the drama manages the rare merging of genres coherently, aka switching from action to comedy to creepy supernatural scenes to romance is very fluent within and never feels awkward. Plot is well paced and interesting too, so i cannot recommend this sadly quite underrated drama enough.

honestly i see it differently. They pace it well in sprinkling in moments of obvious attraction between the two and i was surprised how fast they established the attraction on ML's side (nearly from the get go). But ML is in deep denial part due to his tsundere, more standoffish personality and part due to their shared backstory of family members in a case that has yet to be fully revealed. FL tries to connect with him more the past few episodes as she started to have feels, but he is brushing her off/playing it cool and distant. They behave like a married, bickering couple most the time, but in their beginning nearly shy romantic scenes (glances, a hug and some accidental touches so far) their chemistry is very natural and palpable.
