I was actually surprised that the writers used an accurate timeline - it was like "A Week In The Life" of all…
Hyojoon's problem is that he is and tried to be jack of all trade and thus ended as a master of none. He was not steady in his pursuit of things, changed goals too easy and flighty bc he was relying on acing whatever he does when that is impossible to do if you lack focus, genius or not. (that was in his char description too, but don't ask me where i read that i don't remember. Might have been the official show site tho heh)
The TS boss called Taeho tho, not the other way around. He offered a refund for the pt sessions and a new trainer but TH declined as he wants to keep HS for his sessions now that she has peeked his interest and "grew on him/his dislike has turned into affection". π What better way than that to get to know her more/better? And his reason for him not wanting HS to train TM again was also "He is too handsome" which he then played off with his hurt back acting up when she called that reason childish to end the callπ. So he is jealous indeed but it goes way more in the (romantic) direction of "give me your attention/spend time with me instead of (with) my cousin." π€£ He is still a bit of a brat sure, but a cute/playful one by now, and i prefer his straightforwardness to TM's underhandedness by a mile.
Poor editor only got approved 2 songs and no stems, variations or instrumental. Brutal to work with.
Now I imagine the editor staring at the approved two song list in despair and being on the brink of ragequitting their job after they had to do this nonsense already with SITR π
I thought people were exaggerating about the soundtrack. I have never had music ruin a piece of media so completely.…
I tend to mute the scenes with the horrible music and skip ahead to the next bit of dialogue since the 2 songs always play when there is long drawn out nothingness anyway. That helps to get thru it without poking my eardrums out I found lmao
I'm exhausted (more like sad) watching female lead cleaning after everyone...
Yeah obviously Taeho knows nothing of her situation but gets to know she is sick the next episode. I hope she is finding respite through him soon and likewise Taeho in her. They both need someone in their corner as alone they both are in their respective suffocating circumstances π
Yep, noticed that from the start with him. As soon he saw Taeho train with Hyoshim, he became waaaaay more passive-aggressive…
Having a crush is not a question of age but how you handle it. And imo he does that very immaturely without regard of consequences or 'mutualness' he is bulldozing his way forward. But I guess this was to be expected after he spent a year daydreaming about HS in jail while she basically only wondered two to three times in the same time frame bc the dude didn't appear to his pt sessions anymore. That is the discrepancy between them too. She is polite bc he is a Vip client after all and he mistakes it as romantic interest due to the fantasy world built up in his head for a long time. He is handling it badly without any sense of her boundaries and comfort level, is unable to read the room as you said so fittingly. Or otherwise he would have noticed already that it is all one sided and only in his head.
I added this to my plan to watch list. And when I was scrolling down, I saw "50". No way does this have a whopping…
Live Your Own Life is a family drama they are always this long. If you are here for Hajoon I think you are gonna have a great time since his char is already very lively and amusing with an incoming golden retriever bf arc hehe. Thing is weekend dramas are different from regular kdrama. It needs more patience for the characters and story from your side out since the pace and development of everything is slower. Also more soapy so according tropes apply you will be able to recognize as soon you have watched a few heh. I second the rec of Once Again and Homemade Love Story but Five Enough is also a very good family drama in the same episode range. This fam drama here is still in its beginning phase due to many sport event related delays but it is already competently written and set up in regards of its und characters and story.
Writer has smartly spend 4 weeks on just introduction which is effectively 6 weeks.. This is how you earn your…
Yep. The story is really competently set up and this already sets this weekender apart, seven eps in, from the messy trash fire that was the prior fam drama to this. There is a clear line and structure here that I have never seen in TRHC tbh
You need to go back an think ep and re watch to see who tells shady guy to find grandma, i think Taemin is just…
I mean this is what the preview text says not me heh. But yeah it all feels like a shut up tactic to quiet Taeho. Because if Taemin would have cared to find his grandma he already could have since she disappeared long even before he went to jail for bribery. But he did nothing so yeah. Not buying his sudden concern sorry not sorry.
I learnt from TM in episode 7 that that TH has only been working for the company for a week or so. It's hard to…
Yeah that was a good reminder of how much family dramas employ day to day storytelling. So basically all we have seen over the weeks and made even longer thru postponing is happening in a week in this drama. So Taeho going from dislike to (romantic) interest into Hyoshim is actually fast, as you said. It just seems to us so slow due to the many delays and such. So no wonder Mr. Nice Guy dislikes that since he has spent more than a year daydreaming a relationship with her so in his head she is pretty much his gf when in truth she ain't comfortable with any of his advances. The reason Taeho will succeed here is bc they already have an authentic connection without any pretense and she is herself with him while watching every of her words and moves with TM since he is an important client she can't offend.
Idk how TM will react to Taeho's interest in Hyoshim, especially seeing it is gonna be mutual, but I can't imagine it will be pretty. Let's just hope he moves on to news lady quickly without being a little dick but I struggle seeing that atm tbh
This has such a famila/weekend drama feel with how the story is structured and focused on sociatial expectations and reactions rather than the leads' romance. The muting trick works well for the insufferable music as does 2x speed in general except for selected scenes. Otherwise the drama would be waaaay too slow for me, Melo or not.
Yep, noticed that from the start with him. As soon he saw Taeho train with Hyoshim, he became waaaaay more passive-aggressive…
Oh yeah I meant the marriage thing that he basically already sees her as his gf no matter if she a) wants to be that, b) or his advances in general. He is thinking way ahead emotionally without actually taking Hyoshim into account which is textbook nice guy behavior lmao πππ Hence also his uncalled for possessiveness of her.
eps 1 and the mute button is already my best friend to escape the shitty, repetitive music within. Ugh this has already ruined SITR for me so lets see if i can endure it with the mute technique π
Preview text of episode 8: (google translated bc i am lazy rn lol)
Taemin gets injured in a fight between Sookhyang and Jinbeom (her husband/TM's father). Taeho learns from Chisan (other trainer guy) that Hyosim is sick. Taemin tells Jeonmoo Yeom (shady secretary guy i think?) to find Myeonghee's (grandma) whereabouts. Hyoshim goes to a place she misses and sees Taemin's text message. She calls Taemin.
Still learning the names so i have no idea who half of these people are lmao. I looked it up tho and added some context clues for yall
This is better written than the whole of TRHC and that drama somehow even achieved 20%+. Hopefully this drama…
Hmm yeah, i think you are right. The irony is that TRHC turned out to be and never was a rom nor a com but the most overwrought misery for misery's sake wankfest/torture pr0n i have ever seen in a weekend show. Outdated and backwards as hell too with so many misogynistic undertones that did not even stay hidden the further the show progressed. Its conflicts and arcs all felt fake and superfluous without sense or direction.
The humor in LYOL is more subtle but there (Hajoon's face journeys are sending meeeee, and the way his chars injury was timed with the music and sounds π) it is just way more character-focused like the whole show is. It gives so much info on the leads in seven eps that TRHC hadn't had in fifty (especially Yeondoo, we never learned of her past or why she wanted to be an instructor etc) Also the chemistry between Hajoon and Uee is much better already too. It feels like they play off each other much better than TRHC's stiff leads (AJH tried his best admittedly) ever did and it shows in the tit for tat bickering between them alone. Hence the romance gonna be good i am sure <3 Plus it is not overly dramatic nor melo thus far, sad or heavier scenes are always followed by lighter ones for the viewer's relief. Hence why, as you said, you indeed notice that a very experienced writer is at the helm bc its story is structured sensibly. It has a bit a classic family drama feel too, but without the outdated-ness/backwardness of TRHC. Lets hope it will reflect in both ratings then, here on MDL and in SK's airing ones.
