To me, it's because she wasn't prepared to be the wife of the Empyrean. In the future episode, you'll see a glimpse of how much prep Qing Kui had to go through since a young age to become the wife of the Empyrean. On the other hand, Yetan has been mostly living in seclusion and many times she's not even fed well because the maids and guards etc. believe she's cursed. So she's been living as a survivor since a very young age. In the future episodes, you'll also see how much she's suffered. That's why there's a HUGE difference between her and her sister. Instead of being "booksmart and mature", I consider her to be a survivor who uses any tricks necessary to survive.
