He even dressed the statue with pretty clothes teeehhhheeeeee...
Yeah, he's not a normal character (and doesn't have a normal attachment level to Ruyi), but to a certain degree I understand his wish to memorize her face (with all the paintings of her around the room). One of the many things you may start to lose when you've lost someone is the memory of how they actually look in real life. These days you have plenty of digital photos/videos, but back then? The paintings were his desperate way to try to hold on to her memories. Edit: He can't put up her paintings elsewhere in public 'coz Ren Xin was said to have killed the Empress.
I hope no one dies from their crew? And will the princess wise up?! She volunteered for this! She is driving me…
The princess has the biggest growth arc among the squad and many people are loving her character now. The crew...I'm afraid many will die (according to a snippet of the trailer).
I'm thinking they purposely stopped at this point so we can stew at how annoyed we are with this character, so…
Agree. It takes MANY episodes for Yang Ying to be more confident with herself and to be more aware of many things...and that is also 'coz she's surrounded by the awesome squad 24/7 teaching her A LOT of stuff. LTG doesn't have that kind of squad around him.
I don't like LTG behavior either, but am I the only one feeling Ruyi is unnecessarily cruel and cold to him? He…
Ah, and also, to a certain degree I got why Ruyi was disappointed at LTG not taking revenge on the Empress, 'coz the Empress was his actual motherly substitute. His own mother had asked the Empress to take care of him since he was young, though of course he felt much more attached to Ruyi 'coz she was the one who taught him to fight/be independent. In Ruyi's mind, the Empress was the one providing shelter/education for LTG. Without the Empress, LTG would have been left alone and helpless. That said, I agree that Ruyi was probably also triggered at that time, so to some degree, she did took it out on him, too. Probably also 'coz the both of them knew the Empress personally and they both grew up under her wings.

I can't dislike LTG, either, because I feel so sorry for him. I think that the difference is that Ruyi doesn't feel a thing for him (other than caring to some degrees as his shifu), but no romantic feelings at all. I don't know what other drama MLs you specifically have in mind, but if the FLs have feelings for the MLs in the dramas, then maybe people accept it more because of that? Hmmmm...
Ruyi isn't really a master in handling these types of things (her being a solo assassin most of her life), so I think it's easier for her to be unattached to people compared to LTG (who had had a lot of abandonment issues). It's easier for her to protect people by killing their enemies than dealing with people who're too attached to her (in which case her first instinct is always to leave them behind). For her: mission done, bubye. The way she could leave LTG behind when she thought she had taught him everything meant that she felt her mission was done. Maybe in a way she's also taken aback 'coz she never thought he liked her in a romantic way (that was why she asked him directly about it after entering his secret room).
I'm on episode 8 and I just want to say that I have never watched any C-drama as exciting as Journey to Love,…
The squad (other than the main CP) is def one of my top fave dramaland squad (Liudao Hall squad + Yang Ying). The way they root for the main CP...the way they provide those background leaves and how they try to show off the sweet moments of the CP in front of delulu LTG, the way they protect one another, how funny they are and heartwarming...
The extremes in Li Tongguang's personality is hard to take seriously. On the one hand he's set up as some kind…
I feel like he may be the representation of the toxic, delulu fans out there. "Oh, my idol looked directly into my eyes, he/she may be in love with me." LOL!!!
The fact that all she did was step on his face a couple of times and disregard him also there were moments where…
Well, she trained him for yearrsssss to become strong (they were very young when they first met) and she was an adult when she left him for her own personal missions as a Secret Guard. So the years of being together had left such a huge imprint on him.
"I was once punished in an icy spring, I can stand it.""I know you were once punished in an icy spring. I can't…
Proceed to spoon-feeding her some soup and then wiping her chin clean HEHEHEHEHEHEH...Also when she came back so late, he came bringing food and snacks he he he he he...
LTG will come around, considering in one of spoilers of Ruyi on top of tower, he is standing behind her with YY…
That's what I thought, too. No temper tantrum when in the scene where Ning carries Ruyi away.
As to your question: Back then he wasn't sure Ruyi was really his shifu as she kept denying it, but now that he knows she's truly his shifu, his obsession is unleashed to the max. 'coz she said she wasn't her disciple anymore (triggering another abandonment issue). That was why the jealousy was this time turned to YY ('coz he thought she was Ruyi's new disciple and in his obsessive mind, if he can get rid of the new disciple, he'll be the only Ruyi's disciple again).
