Usually you have a time skip to a happy end. Here, we have a time skip from the happy end to where things go awry…
So glad I'm not the only one who thought that about the flashback they showed as the ending scene. When you title your drama Empress Ki and show her journey of becoming the Empress, you shouldn't reduce it to just the romance at the end, because the show was clearly about more than just that.
I'm actually ok with the ending itself, because that seems to be more or less how history happened. What I didn't like so much was the flashback they showed... To me that just seemed like it put the love triangle back into focus instead of Seungnyang's journey of becoming the Empress. But in dramas like this I'm usually someone who cares more about other plot points than the romance, so maybe that's just me.

Hi :) It's the female lead from daily drama King's Daughter, Soo Baek Hyang! Long drama, but worth it^^
Hi :) Haha you have so many pretty pictures in your profile, I'm too lazy for that :P Did you listen to K-Pop too before starting dramas?

Nice to meet you too^^ Haha my 10s (at least the dramas) don't have that much romance^^ Well, you can say there's romance in QSD, but it's not really the happy kind of romance... The focus of the drama is on her becoming and staying Queen, and I like those kind of politics so it was a great drama for me^^ But if you really must have romance in a drama, I think Sungkyunkwan Scandal might be the better choice. The romance there wasn't as good as in Princess' Man for me, but it's good enough and the bond between the 4 friends totally made up for that!
I'd recommend you Two Weeks anyways though. They only show romance that happened in the past between the two leads, but the hero maturing is one of my favourite character developments so far!
Good article! My favourite villain is Mishil from Queen Seon Duk, which I've watched several years ago, but no other villain could top her character so far. Other noteworthy villains for me are Kang Dong Yoon (The Chaser), Chae Do Woo (A Man's Story) and El Temur (Empress Ki). El Temur is more of a standard villain than the other two, but the actor really made that character work.
Hey, just in case you don't see it in the feeds, you can find Vampire Idol links here:

Somehow, I really feel like watching this. How "big" is the age gap of the male and female lead in this…
There's no age gap in this drama, the leads are all in the same age group. Secret Love Affair from the same writer/director team is the one with the big age gap^^
Great drama! If you like stories with an older cast and a mature atmosphere, this is a very good choice!

The Face Reader isn't a masterpiece, but I like these types of movies where normal people get caught up in something that is way too big for them. Lee Jung Jae's character was the most interesting for me in it, not just because I'm biased, but he's the most cruel one. I saw that you started The Princess' Man and the historical setting of both is the same, showing Prince Suhyang trying to steal the throne.
I've only seen LJJ in The Thieves aside from the stuff I've watched him in recently. It was a good heist movie imo, but obviously he can show more intense acting in darker movies. Haven't seen either Il Mare (nor The Lake House), but I'll probably watch it for him. I don't watch that many movies that are only focused on romance, so I can't really comment on whether they're pessimistic^^ But then again I don't mind tragic endings as long as it makes sense to conclude the story that way.

Hi^^ Nothing much, I just finished My Girlfriend is an Agent, because I needed a light movie between all the serious dramas and movies I'm watching lately^^
How about you?

Yes, that scene was really telling a lot about his character. Before watching I kind of expected his character to be more serious I guess. But seeing how unaffected he was by everything, because he just likes himself too much, made a stronger impact on me in the end. This movie also proves that you don't need totally surprising twists in a story (although I surely didn't expect her body to catch fire D:) or overdramatic scenes in order to make a deep impression on the viewers.
I saw your comment on The Face Reader and I liked LJJ's acting in that one as well! Judging from these two movies, he's really good at playing villainous characters, while not making them hateable for me.

I just finished The Housemaid and I loved it! A lot of the comments said it was pointless, but if the point of the movie is to show that these kinds of people only care about themselves and can get away with whatever they do, it totally achieved its goal. Makes me feel sorry for the children to grow up in that kind of family, but at least Nami seems to head in a different direction.
Thanks for bringing up the movie btw, who knows how long it would have just stayed in my ptw list otherwise ;)
