This was a struggle for me. I love both leads, but found myself feeling embarrassed for them that they were doing a drama like this. Both of them have done wonderful dramas, well written and well acted. This one was cringe worthy. Every cliche in the book. I found both of their acting to be awkward and forced. Still I stuck it out to the bitter end. I wonder why they agreed to do this? Obviously the subbing sites knew something because none of them picked it up. I wonder if it is because she is so recently married and just had a baby? It stayed mostly under 3% ratings in Korea, so that is very bad news. That we had subs at all is thanks to a young man who worked hard to do them on his own for us.
Absolutely lovely. It Should be apparent from the first that there is much more to the stories of all the characters in this drama, so making judgements about people, when you know nothing of their current circumstances, nor what lives they have led to reach this point, is something you should not do in this drama...nor in life. There is always more than one side to every story...and not all people react to their life situations in the same way we would. Watch to the end to learn some really lovely life lessons along with them!
Nice film, but I'm so glad that the 'Disease of the Week' era for dramas has seen its day. I didn't cry since it's a forgone conclusion from the first episode exactly what is going to happen. I found the ending confusing though. It appears he finds out from the hospital that 'a miracle has occurred' and I assumed that meant he was a match, but then later they show that lady on the phone saying What did you find? Bone Marrow?
Thanks so much for sharing the links for fans!Actually, I've noticed on Viki's fan channels, the 'following' count…
I love and own CT,HD and have watched it a dozen times I think. I also own, Hero, House of Flying Daggers, Curse of the Golden Flower, Eat Drink Man Woman, Farewell My Concubine, Iron Monkey, Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle. And there are a bunch of others I don't own but have watched ...Lust Caution, Raise the Red Lantern, In the Mood for Love, Red Cliff, and on and on. I guess I like their movies. Just not the dramas??? :) I too have a few friends met over the years and we chat about all things K. on a daily basis. They are from all over the world and all ages. It's such a wonderful thing!

I have never been able to get into Chinese dramas. There is something about them...I don't know if it is the dubbing, or what, but I cannot attach to them like I have K. I keep trying, because one of my friends watches them all the time and loves them, but ..... :( In one way, I am very thankful and hope I don't get converted! I can't keep up with all the K I want to watch...and I am at my computer or on the couch 16 hours a day as it is! Oh the joys of retirement. My son and family think I'm crazy....but they love me still! :)

That's what I was thinking too...about Life and JTBC. I knew about JTBC and DF and Netflix. There was another drama recently that came out on Netflix Asia, also with a few weeks delay, that showed up after it was completed on Netflix US. My friends and I who have been so worried about being able to watch it were reassured that at the very least we can go to the illegal sites to watch, but we are hanging on in the hopes Netflix US does pick it up so we can be supportive of that platform. I have a hard time keeping the back stories of dramas in my head when I can barely keep in my old brain the plots of the 15 or so dramas I watch on a continuing basis! Thanks again.

Thanks for that tidbit of info. I am always curious about things like that. I'm way more curious about the licensing ins and outs and why some dramas get licensed while others don't. In particular why DF , or Viki, didn't pick up Life. I hear Netflix Asia will be broadcasting it August 4 or 6. So I am hoping that means the US Netflix will get it...maybe when it is done. Otherwise I'm stuck on illegal sites. :(
I put off watching this for a long time out of fear I could not bear to watch. So if you are like me, let me encourage you to watch. Yes, it is hard, but it is also lovely and a testament to the human will to survive as well as to love and support one another in spite of times of terrible, horrible circumstances.
Finally got around to watching this and, I have to say, enjoyed it very much. I love fantasy sci fi to watch and to read. It is very difficult to create fantasy worlds and have them come off relatable, 'real', and coherent. It's important that the world holds together in a 'real' way even if it is fantasy. In other words, it has to make sense. You can't just pull solutions or 'magic' out of the air to solve a problem. It has to be part of the story all along or you lose your audience to eye rolling and Oh Brother where did that come from!?? This did a pretty good job of keeping things sensible. But I was mostly just happy with the story, the characters, the terrific acting by the leads and the supporting actors. Everyone held the story together and did their parts very well so we could feel like we were in their world and it made sense. I guess, like most, my only hesitation was with Oh Yeon Seo. Like a lot of people mentioned, the chemistry was rather so so on her side and she does have this method of acting where she barely moves her face. I guess it's to prevent wrinkles? ;) I don't know.....I have never liked her in anything I've seen her in, but I actually didn't mind her so much in this. There just could have been someone better. Someone who could have created more passion in that relationship. Because the story sure called for it. The ending made total sense for me. It's obviously to let us know the story goes on, but I doubt this would ever see a second season.
