But jokes aside, y'all need to remember that we're watching from a viewer's perspective. We know things that LX doesn't know. He had no idea ZY was bedridden & depressed. He was not aware of ZY's suffering while studying abroad because ZY lied to him saying she had a good time. He doesn't want to get back together with ZY because he would affect her image & future since he's been in jail and is seen as trash of society. So when he saw ZY with her childhood friend, that gave him the final push to try and end the relationship once and for all (either because of jealousy or relief that she found someone else)
At this point we only have 9 episodes left and I really don't have the vision how he will be able to succeed with…
That's what I'm concerned about as well. I really hope it's not one of those dramas that have a very rushed ending. I also wouldn't be a very big fan if they used a cliche resolution to the problem (e.g., LX secretly recording & broadcasting Gao & FZJ saying the bad stuff they did) I have faith, though. The drama so far has been really good and they proved that they won't waste time on certain things (e.g., LX & ZY "making it up" shortly after their argument, instead of dragging it out for a whole episode)
He definitely needed to apologize. In fact he should’ve groveled. He betrayed the only person that was ever…
It's not a good example, because these are 2 very different situations. Li Xun whose sister JUST died vs Li Xun who had 3 years to calm down and mature. Given the circumstances, his past actions were understandable. There was no real way to take down FZJ other than killing him with a gun or knife, because you have to remember he comes from an incredibly influential family and has a lot of connections. Embarrassing him on stage for a 2nd time isn't going to do anything in the long term, as LX probably realized. LX beating up FZJ was just him venting his pent-up anger and (the way I see it) punishing himself for failing to protect his sister & mom.
He definitely needed to apologize. In fact he should’ve groveled. He betrayed the only person that was ever…
"There are many ways to get revenge" Can you give an example? " I hate Gao but I can’t help but wonder if Li Xun treated Gao better things could’ve been different." You can't blame LX for having negative EQ. I presume he spent most of his life with his laptop improving his programming skills and making money to pave a brighter future for his mom & sister. He never intended to hurt Gao's feelings... it's not LX's fault that Gao is a douchebag. You can NOT shift the blame to LX & his attitude for Gao indirectly causing someone's death and not showing any remorse for it. There is no excuse for that. "Also there’s no excuse for him to be mean to her after he got out of jail." He's a former prisoner who is seen as second class in society. She's a Cornell graduate with a Master's degree with a bright future. He probably doesn't want to ruin her future by being with her. ESPECIALLY when he's waging a war against a giant company. Do you remember how worried he looked when Gao mentioned ZY and LX telling Gao the fight is between them and not to involve ZY? LX doesn't want to drag ZY into the war. That's more than a good enough excuse, I think.
He definitely needed to apologize. In fact he should’ve groveled. He betrayed the only person that was ever…
What counts as not betrayal then?
Hiding his pain and continuing to live a normal life with ZY when the person who's responsible for the death of his last family member is right in front of him doing well?
He definitely needed to apologize. In fact he should’ve groveled. He betrayed the only person that was ever…
1000% I mean, literally how can anyone expect Li Xun to go on living his life as if nothing happened when the person responsible for his sister's death is living well and being smug over how he can't be legally held accountable? I wouldn't mind if LX apologized to ZY, but some of y'all acting like ZY dragging LX into the competition wasn't the catalyst that led to his sister's death & him being sent to prison.
Thinking how LiXun has a lot of programming knowledge catching up to do after that 3 yrs.🥲
Didn't he help the prison department program some kind of security system? I think Ren Di mentioned it in episode 1. So I feel like he might've had (limited) access to a computer while in jail.
It's been slowly going up even with no releases. Approaching 8.5 now.I think part 1 definitely deserved at least…
Definitely, but it's sort of unrealistic considering how many people dropped and gave this a bad rating because of the "rude" ML, before we found out more about his past. Considering how many people did this, 8.4 is already very impressive and speaks volume about the quality of this drama. And we will probably hit 8.6 if part 2 is at least as good as part 1.
We're finally going back to the present like most people wished Now can we have the ratings move up😭🙏

The scene of the two lovers in the snow was badly paced, the guy just lost his sister due to a tragic accident,…
Right before that scene, Zhu Yun remembers LX's sister saying he likes to keep everything to himself and pretend he doesn't care, even when he does (which is why even though he can't hold back his tears, he still puts on a serious face and isn't broken down mentally). LX then recalls the time when, after their mom died, his sister says they have to accept fate (LX having to accept that FZJ is getting away after what he's done), and then LX himself saying "I won't accept it". This is foreshadowing that he's going to go after FZJ.
The ML sees the snowy day as the last opportunity to be happy with the FL before breaking up with her. And the FL wants to do everything to cheer up the ML without "taking pity" and showing sadness for the ML because, like his sister says, he keeps everything to himself and pretends like he doesn't care. Typically, when people are like this, it's because they don't want to look weak in front of strangers, and don't want their close ones (FL, his sister, mom) to have to worry about them. If the FL kept showing a sad face and showing pity for LX, she would be insulting his character and intentions.
So, their moment together in the snow definitely wasn't out of place. This story is very well developed. Every character's intention and action can be explained by clues left behind here and there. It's not a surface-level drama. It makes me have to think a little to fully grasp a character's motives, which is why I like it so much.
Why does Fang Zhijing have so much influence? i don't understand. Didn't he clearly rig the previous competition…
Yea, Zhu Yun's parents said, "The Fangs ("Fang Jia") will not let Li Xun go". In Chinese, when a family is influential the family will be referred to by their family name + "jia"(family). We know Zhu Yun's parents are decently influential (ended Zhang Xiao Pei's career), but even they see FZJ's family in high regard and does not want to mess with them, which is why they stopped Zhu Yun.
I can confirm The western audience seem to really dislike her parents. But as someone with Chinese parents, their behavior is 100% expected. They just love ZY a lot and want to make sure she has a good future. They definitely could've been a tad nicer considering what just happened to LX though.
It turned quite dark and depressing in this episode. 😭 I really don’t know how to process all this. LX may…
Well, I doubt there's any way to lure FZJ to a "private" place, and I doubt LX had the patience left. Someone in the comment section theorized LX is doing this to punish himself. He might've felt guilty for failing to protect both his mom and his sister, so he wants to send himself to jail while punishing FZJ. That would make the most sense to me.

A lot of this is made clear in Episode 21-22.
I'm just going to say though... (copy-pasted from my previous comment)
It would take an "idiot" to accidentally expose a friend's weak, sick sister to a scheming douchebag who wants to do everything to cause misery to the friend. An idiot can't place #6 on the entrance examination to one of the most prestigious colleges.
There's a specific thing that Zhu Yun's parents says in episodes 21-22 that hints at why FZJ has so much influence. You can ask me again if you're still not sure by the time you finish watching 21-22, I don't want to spoil it for you.

now we see her taking charge and it's so refreshing

Be realistic... put yourself in his shoes.

Mine is when Zhu Yun explains what "Lighter and Princess" means and Li Xun going "aahh, so that's what you're getting at" and telling her "There should be a limit to our narcissism." Their facial expressions, chemistry, and just everything about this scene is so cute. https://kisskh.me/Drama/Lighter-and-Princess---Lighter---Princess/Episode-18?id=5697&ep=111288&page=0&pageSize=100

even before it happened, people in the comment section mentioned it without marking their comment as a spoiler and totally ruined it for me :|
